Video game marketing has a history of using sex to sell completely sexless products, but perhaps no marketing campaign has been as unnecessarily horny and high-profile as Nintendo's campaign featuring Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall reading copy about Mario like she was promoting a late-night telephone sex company.

The ad, unearthed by Twitter user Marc Snetiker Wednesday, finds Cattrall advertising the Nintendo 3DS and playing what appears to be Super Mario 3D Land. She talks about her experiences with the game while dressed in a negligee and talks about Mario (whose name she pronounces "Marry-o") like he's a studly pool boy with whom she's also having a kinky affair.

The whole thing was extremely uncomfortable back then and is still uncomfortable now, as many Twitter users discovered.

Cattrall herself jumped into the ongoing fracas and seemed to confirm that she was still very much turned on by the sexy Italian plumber.

Mamma mia, indeed.
