In navigating the perilous waters of dating in the digital age, how can single people possibly improve their chances? One word: emojis.

Last week, researchers from The Kinsey Institute published new findings regarding emojis and the sex life of single minglers. Through a survey of over 5,000 people ages 18 to 94, they concluded that those who use more emojis are more likely to get more dates and more sex. We all know that emojis are a clear way of expressing your emotions. Really, no ambiguity there at all.

The study concluded that "nearly 30% of this U.S. national sample of adult singles used emojis/emoticons regularly with dates, and most reported doing so because they provide a better outlet for self-expression than strictly text-based messages." Keep in mind, it's probably not a good idea to send an eggplant emoji on the first date.

Even more specifically, they concluded that "those who used emojis more with potential partners prior to the first date were more likely to have engaged in intimate behaviors with that person."

The Daily Dot made a fair point in noting that more research needs to be done, as 86.8% of the participants identified as straight and 62.2% identified as white. Also, it would be worth knowing if each of these participants are looking for a serious partner, along with what specific emojis they're using, but, alas, all we have now is all the vague information needed to empower the emoji spammers.
