Weekend Meme Roundup: Unus Annus, MacBook Craig And The JetBlue Burger King
It seems we are finally free of election memes! This past weekend had a nice return to normalcy with some very common back-to-basics humor. We have memes about Apple again, some memes relating to YouTubers and even someone stupid being racist in public. It almost feels like 2016 again. Helping us relive the magic is MacBook Craig, followed by Unus Annus and, finally, JetBlue Racist Burger King. Let's dig into it.
MacBook Craig
MacBook Craig is a newer version of the "person looks at something offscreen and is happy" that was first seen in Pulp Fiction with the infamous briefcase. In this meme format, Apple Senior Vice President Craig Apple is seen looking pleased with a laptop and then smiling towards the camera. This type of format always goes far, as it is incredibly easy to exploit, and since it's an Apple product, it just adds an extra little layer on top for memeability.
Unus Annus
Unus Annus is a series of videos made by YouTubers Markiplier and Crankgameplays. The entire idea behind the channel was to have a new video uploaded every day with a fresh idea that doesn't have to relate to any previous videos, all for an entire year. After the year ended, the entire channel was set to be deleted, and reuploads were strongly discouraged. The point of this, apparently, was to give the internet back a sense of wonderment, a sense of living in the moment, seeing something one day and it not being there the next.
Naturally, you are hearing about it too late if this is your first time, as the one-year anniversary was up last week. The channel had one last livestream, the last episode shown, and then everything was deleted from the Unus Annus channel. In the past year, however, it garnered over 4.4 million subscribers, which means that there were a lot of people impacted by the channel ending. Impacted enough, in fact, to make a plethora of memes about it! From favorite moments to just simple reactions, memes about Unus Annus have been flooding the internet in recent days.
JetBlue Racist Burger King
JetBlue Racist Burger King has started something now called "KingPosting," which takes its name from his Burger King crown so prominently displayed on his head. In the viral video, the "king" was upset over a woman who he claimed was in his seat. He then decided to escalate things by loudly screaming several racial slurs and other profanities. When questioned about his use of racial slurs, he claimed to be "part west African." This type of meme (someone being a spectacle in public) hasn't been seen in a little while, and though it's a captivating clip, it likely won't last long as a meme due to its origin and usage being racially disparaging.
