And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, equals, they recounted the memes of the week.

This week, Instagram bathwater marketer Belle Delphine was arrested (or maybe she wasn't), a troll crashed AOC's town hall, and Blizzard became the next big gaming company to anger its fanbase. Oh, and there were some new templates as well.

Belle Delphine's Arrest

Undeniable social media powerhouse Belle Delphine made headlines again this week, this time by getting herself arrested. Or maybe she didn't. The rumor of her arrest started after H3 speculated she had been arrested by UK police on October 7th, which would explain why she had been absent from social media of late. Delphine added to the rumor by posting her mugshot to Twitter.

While Delphine claimed that she was arrested for spray-painting a car of someone who allegedly stole her hamster (???) no news outlets were able to confirm that Delphine was arrested at all. The Metropolitan Police, whose alleged watermark appears on Delphine's mugshot, stated they didn't recognize the watermark. So the question remains: was Belle Delphine actually arrested? Who knows! But the bathwater saleslady continues to attract attention.

Eat the Babies AOC Hoax

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has long been a target of weirdos online, but last week she may have faced her weirdest weirdo yet when a woman stood up at her recent town hall and declared the solution to climate change was to "Eat the babies." AOC pivoted away from the question in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, thinking the woman may be mentally ill. Instead, the woman was a troll.

Shortly after the event, members of the Lyndon Larouche PAC, a group that has been described as "cult-like extremists," took credit for planting the woman, claiming a kind of Swiftian-satire. Regardless, the obvious troll and AOC'd graceful handling of the situation still riled up conservatives who took the bait and claimed the left was full of crazy people and AOC didn't expressly denounce eating babies so she therefore supports it. This made its way all the way to the President, who took time out of his busy schedule to say "AOC is a wackjob!" Normal stuff!

Blizzard Boycott

As China continues its harsh censorship of anything supporting the Hong Kong Protests, Blizzard found itself in the fray after banning Hearthstone player Chung "Blitzchung" Ng-Wai from participating in Blizzard-organized Hearthstone tournaments for one year and stripping him of his winnings after he called for the liberation of Hong Kong. Gamers, who are, uh, not the friendliest group of people towards publishers, were understandably angry at the company for punishing a player for exercising free speech. In retaliation, they have attempted to turn Mei, a popular character from Blizzard's Overwatch, into a Pro-Hong Kong icon. Basically, Blizzard waded into an ocean of crap, having ticked off their fans and entered into the political arena.

Girl Bites Lip

Oh, and there were memes this week too! Not just controversies! First up, we have this lady biting her lip while checking herself out in the mirror.

The picture comes from 2017 and has remained a popular reaction image, as people imagined what might happen that has made the girl so "interested"-looking. Usually, it's something not-so-great.

Grab Her Waist

Another older meme that grew popular this week was "Grab Her Waist," a parody of advice one gives to make a girl feel special. The template gives a series of instructions about how to hold a girl before ending with a violent act, such as "Batista Bomb her."

The comic above has been used as an exploitable as memers imagine the various violent hijinks one could use to make a lady feel like the belle of the ball. The template is good goofy fun in a week otherwise ridden with controversy. Here's hoping next week's memes are full of lulz and not facepalms!
