Was 'StoneToss' Doxxed? The Potential Discovery Of The Controversial Webcomic Artist Explained

This week, the internet may have discovered the identity of StoneToss after a group worked to dox the controversial webcomic artist.

While the internet (and, sometimes, the law) is generally against doxxing, the doxxing of StoneToss has led to mixed opinions online, as StoneToss is one of the internet's more notorious figures for his far-right beliefs. Here, we'll break down what's happening with the potential doxxing of StoneToss.

Was StoneToss Doxxed?

At this point, nothing is confirmed about whether the internet legitimately identified StoneToss.

On Tuesday, two Antifa groups, Anonymous Comrades Collective and Late-Night Anti-Fascists, revealed the digging they had done into StoneToss and asserted that they had identified him as Hans Kristian Graebener, a 34-year-old resident of Texas.

The massive, 99-post thread has been deleted from Twitter for violating its rules against doxxing (a shorter version is available in a blog post). Screenshot tweets show they looked into an AMA from RedPanels, the "prequel" comic to StoneToss, and a combination of information from Gab and Bitcoin forum leaks and LinkedIn.

There has been some debate that RedPanels and StoneToss are not written by the same person, and some have argued that the group doxxed RedPanels but not StoneToss. The groups countered this by comparing voice clips of StoneToss and RedPanels and alleged they are the same person. They also allege that login information discovered in forum leaks ties Grabener to a Redditor named Scythe-001, who promoted RedPanels comics until the comic stopped, at which time they began promoting StoneToss comics.

The information certainly suggests that Graebener and StoneToss are connected, but again nothing is confirmed.

How Has The Internet Reacted To The StoneToss Doxxing?

Unlike most doxxings done online, the reaction to StoneToss' alleged doxxing has been mixed. Some believe that, given StoneToss' extreme political beliefs, the doxxing was justified.

StoneToss has long been accused of pushing far-right, white supremacist rhetoric in his comics. An archived Imgur post compiling some of his offending comics include examples where the punchlines are Holocaust denial, racism, anti-semitism, sexism, homophobia, and anti-immigration views.

Others posted memes about the doxxing, with some finding it ironic that Graebener is of Puerto Rican descent.
