A new meme song has hit the TikTok algorithm, spawned from a viral prank video about an Indian guy cooking curry in class.

The original YouTube video was only posted a few days ago in which the YouTuber, named Fique, brings out a whole cooking set-up in his college lecture. The video spread to TikTok soon after where meme creators and internet users have been remixing it and inserting it into preexisting meme templates.

So, where did the "Ding Dong Eat It Up" meme come from? What's the original video and who is YouTuber Fique? Let's explain.

What's The Original 'Ding Dong Eat It Up' Video?

The original video was shared on Saturday by YouTuber Fique. It's called "Cooking Curry During College Lecture!" on his channel.

The premise is simple: midway through a college lecture, Fique takes out a hot plate, dishes and a chef's outfit. He then pours butter chicken curry into the pot. Of course, the professor takes issue with this but Fique presses him further, eventually singing, "Ding dong, eat it up. Eat it well and mix it up."

Who Is YouTuber Fique?

Fique is a Canadian YouTuber who's been posting prank videos since 2022. He's having his moment right now though, as his TikTok account has been going viral, leading to views on his YouTube channel.

Currently, his most viral video is "Cooking Curry During College Lecture!" but others like "Attacking Cameraman Prank!" come close.

Why Is The 'Ding Dong Eat It Up' Meme Viral?

People on TikTok are enjoying the "Ding Dong Eat It Up" meme. Why? It's hard to tell. It's a pretty on-the-nose caricature of an Indian stereotype. Fique is hamming up an accent and cooking curry.

The appeal for fans, outside of self-effacing South Asians, is potentially just racism, akin to the belief that Indian street food is dirty and cooked in unhygienic places with dirty dishes.

Other people spreading the meme might be doing so ironically. Many of the memes so far insert the "Ding Dong Eat It Up" song into other trendy and notoriously bad anthems like KSI's new song "Thick Of It." For example, one meme creator replaced KSI's infamous hook with Fique's jingle to supposedly make the song better.
