About

Ding Dong Eat It Up refers to a viral prank video of a man cooking butter chicken curry in class, enacting an Indian guy stereotype by singing in an accent, "Ding dong, eat it up. Eat it well and mix it up." The original video was called "Cooking Curry During College Lecture!" and YouTuber Fique posted it in mid-October 2024. The video was reposted to TikTok soon after, where it became more viral and earned memetic usage like remixes, lip dubs and recreations.

Origin

On October 12th, 2024, YouTuber[1] Fique posted a prank video called, "Cooking Curry During College Lecture!" in which he played the part of a stereotypical Indian man by cooking butter chicken curry during class. The video received roughly 719,600 views and 49,000 likes in five days. At the video's 8:12-minute mark (shown below), Fique sings a song that goes, "Ding dong, eat it up. Eat it well and mix it up."



Spread

On October 14th, 2024, Fique posted the clip to TikTok[2] where it received over 4.4 million plays and 528,400 likes in three days.

In the following days, the Ding Dong Eat It Up song became a meme as it was used in other creators' content. For instance, on October 15th, TikToker[3] @adem.innit69 reposted the clip with a text caption that read the lyrics, gaining over 22.8 million plays and 2.5 million likes in two days (shown below).

On October 16th, TikToker[4] @grunchy.fn posted a recreation of the video in Fortnite, receiving over 192,100 plays and 10,100 likes in a day (shown below).

Also on October 16th, 2024, TikToker[5] @donpollostudios posted an iteration that also referenced Logan Paul and KSI's food brands Prime and Lunchly, gaining over 242,600 plays and 28,600 likes in a day (shown below).
