Meme culture often thrives on the subjective "clever humor" and relatable content created by communities, and the "Don't Worry Baby, He's Just a Nerd!" webcomic has grown to become a notable example of this online phenomenon.

Spurred by a dialogue that playfully pokes fun at the stereotype surrounding nerds, the meme has gained many variations, parodies and even lore of the characters featured in the original comic from 2011.

Let's uncover the origins and impact of the "Nerd's Revenge" meme.

Who Created The 'Don't Worry Baby, He's Just a Nerd' Webcomic?

Before becoming the notable "Don't Worry Baby, He's Just a Nerd" meme, artist Alexlatwork posted an untitled two-panel comic in August 2011 in which a nerdy student laments over his object of interest going out with a thuggish student rather than with him.

In the second panel of the comic, years have passed and the nerdy student, now a CEO, snubs his former romantic interest, who then complains about not being able "to find a good man."

How Did The 'Don't Worry Baby, He's Just a Nerd' Meme Gain Virality?

The webcomic remained a well-known meme frequently reposted online multiple times on Facebook, Instagram and X in the early 2010s. However, through 2017 and onward, parodies of the comic gained virality on social media as it became an exploitable format.

For example, in February 2017, the Facebook group CTFU World posted a Minions version of the comic, and a few months later, an unknown Redditor posted a Family Guy version of the meme to the subreddit /r/DeepFriedMemes.

Conversations around this meme have remained relevant going into the 2020s, as TikTok user @vickitoriii voiced her opinion about the webcomic's message and her desire to also have a “Beat It Chick!” moment with someone who wronged her in the past in a video from August 2024.
