Laika's Adventure Thread

When I was younger I used to read these "fantasy adventure" books written by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. They were unique in that you actively…played? the book, as in you made a character, gave him stats and made choices throughout the course of the book. These choices would lead you down different paths and bring about unique outcomes to your adventure as a whole.

Throughout the book you would battle enemies, collect items, solve puzzles and die a lot. To put it simply these books played like Zork to some effect.

In this thread we're playing Bloodbones

because its the only one at this point in time which I haven't lost

I will only allow 4 players to be playing at a time, I might increase or decrease this number depending on how well this pans out.

Just a few notes before we start:

1. This book is obviously only suppose to be played by a single person, there maybe times where I have to do some shoehorning or story manipulation to make it compatible with more than one player e.g. I might add more enemies to particular fights to increase difficult or force the group apart in tight situations. Just letting you know.

2. Feel free to interact and roleplay with your fellow team members (aswell as NPC's). You can either stick with them as a team or split up, I will also allow you to swap equipment between players.

3. When a player dies, a slot will open and can be filled by a new user. This new player will start off from the very beginning.

4. If all players are dead at anyone one time the story will reset and progress will be lost.

5. I will progress the thread as often as I can.

6. If you intend to stick as a group, state this in the thread or else people will be left behind or thrown forward.

7: Book excerpts are going to be in quoted blocks

Right enough of that shit, let's get to it…

Create your character and start your adventure

Roll 1 die to determine your skill
Roll 2 dice to determine your stamina
Roll 1 die to determine your luck
(You can cheat a bit if you want to specialise your class but don't minmax)
Also if your dorito dust covered dice aren't at arms reach you will find this handy

Tell me what you got for each skill ITT
Give a bit of backstory (if you want)
And finally give your character a name for old times RP sake.

Oh and one more roll of 2 dice to determine the amount of gold your carrying, may the happy merchants bless your soul.

Now time for a bit of story to set the background.

The Beginning, a TLDR retelling

A couple of years ago your parents were killed by Pelvis Pressly Cinnabar, a spoopy skeltal ship captain with a infamous reputation. This annoyed you to such an extent that you stopped playing D&D and set off sailing the seas of Titan, getting seriously swole and hench in the process in hope that one day you might meet this dreaded captain face to face.

Anway your return home after rumours that the Virago, Cinnabars ship, has been sighted sailing the mists of Nakunu Bay on the Eastern edge of the Port of Crabs, a shithole of a town (where you sorta live)

You begin you search at the Jolly Roger Inn, its dark and the atmosphere is a dingy as it can get. Unsurprisingly your question asking has aroused the attention of a particular group of people…

I'll kick the story off when I get 4 characters..

I've got no relevant experience beyond the Goosebumps CYOA books, but I'll give this a shot.

Skill: 3
Stamina: 9 (5+4)
Luck: 5

Backstory: Jim Jervis was the son of two middle-class merchants. His childhood was boring, his teenage years were boring, and his adulthood was, get this, boring. He was never known for anything beyond being a clumsy dunce with no real skills.

So Jim made himself a pirate. He bought a sword, a parrot, and an old merchant ship, then renamed himself "Mizzenmast" after an ancient inscription he found on the ship. As he sailed off, he swore he'd make a name for himself as the most fearsome man on the sea.

He still wasn't known for being anything other than a clumsy dunce with no real skills, but hey, he was a pirate now!

Name: Jim "Mizzenmast" Jervis

Gold: 7 (5+2)

I remember "playing" one of these things in primary school. Zero experience other than that, though.

Skill – 5
Stamina – 7 (6+1)
Luck – 4
Gold – 10 (6+4)

Name – Chrysopoeia

An unworldy humanoid entity made from a sludge of mercury and aqua regia. Created as a byproduct of a successful synthesis of gold by alchemists and given consciousness by its proximity to the Philosopher's Stone. Spoopy pirate captain raided the alchemist college, killed everyone, and stole the stone. Cleverly disguising itself as human, it sets out to avenge its "parents".

Name: Temmie

Skill:5
Stanima: 3+4=7
Luck:3
Monies:3+5=8

Backstory: Nobody knows who or what Temmie is, nor where Temmie came from, and even fewer care enough to ask the question in the first place. Naive, outgoing, and energetic.
(Sorry, is okay if I do this? I just can't think of something of the top of my head (too much pressure!!!) and I don't really know what would be allowed (like could I be a robot?) so if it's not okay, which I totally understand, then just pretend like this whole post doesn't exist.)

Last edited Oct 14, 2015 at 06:59PM EDT

Name: Karroti

Skill:1
Stamina: 10 (6+4)
luck: 6
Coins: 4 (3+1)

Backstory: Karroti was a young lass, sadly she was a uneducated lass, joined the circus at a young age, mostly made to run longer than any other creature in the circus. and now she's looking for an adventure.

@Mr. Stalker,

All slots are currently filled however I will call on you when one becomes free.

@Spoopy Roy G. Biv,

I can make you to be some sort of clockworky robot if that's how you want to play it, shouldn't be too difficult to work into the game (considering this is only meant to have human characters but where is the fun in that)

Beware that this means that it certain circumstances you could also be at a disadvantage but we will see.

@Particle Mare,

So you are some sort of conjured up amalgamation? fair enough. I'll work it in the same as Roys character

Your nosey question asking and desire for adventure has caught the attention of some undesirables..

Still laughing the ruffians advance towards you. Apart from the Half-Ogre, there is a well built bearded man missing most of his teeth, and a leaner rogue with two ugly red scars running down the right hand side of his face…

Will you:

Try to escape?
Charge one of the pirates?
Stand firm and prepare to fight the rogues?

Game note:
Combat is essentially very simple turn-based dice rolling in which enemies have a set stat the same as you do. You simply roll a few dice for each side, add some numbers up and whoever has the highest causes a wounding strike. You needn't worry about the mechanics however, I will only ask for dice rolls

@KYFMP,

You turn on your heels and run! You hear a sharp crack behind you and then find yourself falling forwards as the half-ogre's whip wraps around your ankles and your feet are pulled from beneath you (you lose 2 stamina points and 1 luck point for being so cowardly!) In an instant he pirates are on you. Fight them both at the same time.

During the first attack round you are trying to get to your feet again so you must reduce your attack strength by 2 points.

A battle has broken out and you must fight!

Second Pirate

@Snickerway, Spoopy Roy G. Biv, Particle Mare,

The three of you quietly watch as poor Nasser is pounced by a pair of wretched pirates, the half ogre will not let you escape this encounter and you must fight….you are going to fight aren't you?

Last edited Oct 15, 2015 at 04:29PM EDT

Um, sure I guess I'll go with the clockwork robot thing then. I'll keep the name Temmie to avoid confusion.
I attack the second pirate. (That's an option, right?)
I actually managed to roll a pair of sixes.

@Spoopy,

Much to the relief of Nasser (or fright for that matter) a robotic humanoid steps up to aid him in his scuffle against the pirates.

You attack the second pirate

You roll 2 sixes, with your 11 skill you strike with the attack power of 23
The pirate rolls 4, plus its 6 skill it has an attack power of 10

You swing your sword with an almost fluid motion, easily out-manoeuvring the pirates shuffling jab and slashing at his chest.

You win this round and cause 3 points of stamina damage upon the pirate, once he reaches zero he's toast!

First Pirate
Skill: 7
Stamina: 7

Second Pirate
Skill: 6
Stamina: 4

Choose a target and roll 2 dice

@Particle Mare

You enter the fray and engage in noble combat!

You attack the second pirate (I don't know what made me laugh more, attacking the weaker one of the two or misspelling it "wanker")

You roll 10, coupled with your skill you have an attack power of 21

The pirate rolls 7, his skill bolstering this to an attack power of 13

You absolutely trash him, dodging his untrained attacks and effortlessly cutting his head from his shoulders in a critical hit

You defeat the pirate, wiping out his last 4 points of stamina…

Roll 2 dice to continue your attack…

@KYFPMM,

You attack the first pirate.

You roll 6, with your 12 skill you have an attack power of 18, however due to the fact you had fallen just prior to combat you lose 2 points making your actual attack power 16

The pirate rolls 6, along with his skill that gives him an attack power of 13

You leg sweep is hasty but nevertheless successful, the fiendish pirate falls to the cobblestone with a nasty crunch of his back.

You win the strike and cause 3 points of stamina damage however he quickly climbs to his feet, ready to strike once more.

First Pirate
Skill: 7
Stamina: 4

Second Pirate
[DEAD]

Roll 2 dice to continue your attack…

Last edited Oct 15, 2015 at 05:49PM EDT

>implying it was a misspelling

These hooligans got no business tryina' kill some guy for asking questions. They're right wankers.

I attack the first pirate. Roll 3+5=8

EDIT: also, question. How much freedom do we exercise over what to do with our characters? Can we only act as you indicate (e.g. roll two dice and select a target) or can we do our own thing? I'd love to be looting the body of the second pirate right about now. Maybe check his address and send his widow some roses, yknow.

Last edited Oct 15, 2015 at 06:05PM EDT

@Particle Mare,

I'm going mostly by the book with a little bit of improvisation here and there. Currently you are locked in combat until it is resolved and there isn't much that can be done until you have resolved said fight This is the only mechanic at work in the game, the only thing you have to strictly conform to. You can interact with your environment to a small extent but in the end you will have to make fixed decisions to progress the story.

In some cases you can loot and throughout the story there will be many items and stuff to acquire. However not every encounter and location will hold loot.

For extra entertainment I will add loot and trinkets for those with a greed for treasure.

Feel free to interact with your immediate environment but be aware that you will have to make fixed decisions to advance (this is why we have the book afterall, gotta stick to the script to some extent)

@Particle Mare, KYFPMM

The pair of you launch a dual attack at the lone pirate, the stench of excrement fills the air as he soils his pants at the site of his beheaded friend…

Chrysopoeia rolls 8 giving him an overall attack strength of 19

The pirate rolls 6 giving him an attack strength of 13

Chrysopoeia attack is successful and deals 3 stamina damage. The pirate, now mortally wounded, still stands ready to fight….

Nasser rolls a 8 giving him an overall attack strength of 20

The half dead pirate rolls a 5 giving his final attack a strength of 12

The pirate takes his final blow, cut to ribbons. The battle has ended…

The half-ogre, soon realising that he is greatly outmatched, decides to do a runner. He disappears into the dingy depth of the port side town. Hopefully to never be seen again…

The last of the pirates fall and with some relief you sheathe your sword. It looks as though have beaten Dregg within and inch of his life and he is failing fast. You do your best to make the old man comfortable and he gives you some insight into the surrounding areas and tells of a rumour that something dark is afoot.

He also mentioned that the pirates of the Black Skull (ofwhich the two guys you just killed are associated) are gathering in the Port of Crabs so they may have a hidden base somewhere in the city, but ofcourse at present you have no idea where it may be.

To advance the plot you must choose one:

You could visit the tavern and inns yourself in the hope of finding out more information on this gathering?

or you could visit the notorious gambling pits, a possible source of information and a way to increase your gold pieces?

alternatively it might be a good idea to equip yourself better at the markets before you set out on your quest?

or you could try to find out more about the Black Skull and the Cult of Quezkari?

then again you may do well to get the help of the authorities against Cinnabar? although Governor Montargo has allowed the port to remain a safe haven for buccaneers and freebooters

Ofcourse you could abandon your search for information and instead look for the pirates hidden base directly?

(This excerpt has been modified and cut down to keep things simple)

So many decisions! and I'd be quick to get a move on if I were you, a robot, an alchemists creation, a bloodied half dead guy and 2 actually dead guys are sure to attract some form of attention and in these places it's never good attention.

Either interact, chat, split up or team up. Or go straight ahead and make a choice. No pressure from my part…

The Black Skull pirates were killed at the Jolly Rodger Inn…

Shit, I missed two whole turns? I gotta post faster.

I'll do whatever everyone else wants to. I ain't going off on my own and getting killed the first move I make.

Also, question: if I die, can I immediately get on the waiting list for another character?

@Snickerway,

Yep you can give it another shot if you want, no reason to disallow that. You will just be placed at the back of the cue, which at this current moment in time is only Mr. Stalker.

And that's me done for the night. See you tomorrow ladies and gentlemen.

Nasser decided check what he possesses discovered that he has some gold,a sword that could have been very useful against the pirates, a tinderbox that did't manage to open and a lantern
After doing all of this in absolute silence he turned to the other three strangers and said:
-What are we going to do now ?

Last edited Oct 15, 2015 at 07:40PM EDT

Mizzenmast shuddered as he realized he had no idea what he was getting into. He didn't think he could have taken one of those guys, but the robot and the… thing… had slaughtered the thugs with brutal efficiency. Mizzenmast had only just met these guys – could he trust them? If that strength was turned on him, he wouldn't last a second. The best he could do was put on a brave face.

Mizzenmast cleared his throat loudly. "Yes! Erm, to that. Not being here anymore would definitely be a good idea."

While those two lads are busy voting for where to go next, Chrysopoeia quickly goes through the two dead bodies before too much attention arrives. Dissolving slightly into a sludge-like substance, its fluid tendrils investigate every pocket and crevice and takes everything of value.

Last edited Oct 16, 2015 at 01:28AM EDT

Okay! Then it's decided! (Unless some mysterious entity says that's against the rules.) Now does anyone actually KNOW the way to the local pub or inn or whatever? Because I literally just got to town.

Laika wrote:

(Give me about an hour and half and ill do some updates, apologies for keeping you waiting)

Nah, it's fine. It's not like I'm available 24/7 to keep up. I think it's fair to say that as long as everyone checks in at least once every 24 hours, then we can keep this up.

(Right, lets get back to it.)

@All players,

Chrysopoeia investigates the two dead pirates. There clothing and equipment is nothing short of mediocre and haphazard, better gear could be produced by a man struck blind!

The only thing you find of worth on these two cretins are 4 gold coins which you have pocketed for yourself.

Now you feel generally unclean.

It seems as though you all wish to stick together at this moment in time, a good idea. Surely you will be able to succeed against all odds?

As a group you decide that you simply haven't got the information that you crave and that it is in all you interests to continue your question asking around the taverns and inns of the Port of Crabs. or maybe you just want to move on from this mess, I don't blame you…

You visit many of the seediest drinking establishments in the city, including The Cat and Cockroach, Angar's Mutiny and the Barnacle Tavern. However, your enquiries and investigations attract the attentions of those whose interest you did not want to arouse. Having just left another smoky bar room you suddenly find yourself confronted by a group of pirates and black-robed devotees – all followers of Quezkari, They have been alerted to your mission by your endless enquiries.

Realising the danger you are in from Cinnabars cronies, you run for it, as there are far too many for you to fight!

The four of you break out into a mad dash, the clatter of the robots feet against the ground echoing about the dingy streets. Behind you are the screeches and wails of madmen, a true lynch-mob.

You just couldn't stay away from those damn taverns could you?

You are in serious shit now guys and it's time to test your luck, even with the four of you there is no chance of survival against this battalion of burly demons!

You all must roll 2 dice and tell me your scores…
Dice for your dice rolling needs..

The Black Skull pirates were killed at the Jolly Rodger Inn…

(Luck has a backward way of working in this game, I think I might keep the technicalities of that mechanic to myself, makes this more interesting…the only thing I will reveal is that taking a luck test reduces your luck attribute by 1 point each use slowly making you more unlucky…)

@Snickerway and Particle Mare,

Jim thinks fast, throwing down a tactical match onto a puddle of spilled lamp oil causing a brief blaze, however it makes for a good stalling tactic (your chance of escape has been positively affected!)

Chrysopoeia decides that a good verbal bashing is in order, throwing a couple of insults back at the marauding pursuers however only seems to anger them. These men aren't shy to vulgar language after all. (Funnily enough this adverse effect cancels out Jims boost)

By the gods, even the most enthusiastic of Ostrich would have trouble keeping up with you!

However after dodging through alleyways and streets you have lost sight of your two friends, Temmie the Robot and Nasser the Unlucky. What has become of them you wonder?

You take a break in a darkened alleyway for a moment to re-evaluate your situation. Where to next?

Take a moment to interact or advance and make a choice…

The notorious gambling pits?
The markets?
The temple quarter?
Go to see governor Montargo?

@KYFPMM,

Nasser tries his best to catch up with his team mates but after his fall from earlier and his inherently bad luck he trips on a kerb, falls to the ground and goes sliding a few feet before being assimilated by the cultists.

Not going down without a fight you show a valiant effort to defend yourself, flailing your sword at the aggressors you manage to cut one of them down in a panicked and brutal counter-attack, incredible!

Sadly this almighty act of self-preservation comes to an end…abruptly…

You are struck over the head and rendered unconscious…

You come to tied to a stone altar before a hideous bony likeness of the voodoo death god, Quezkari. you only just have time to take in the fact that you are in a large underground chamber packed with pirates and devotees, before a black robed priest plunges his sacrificial knife into your heart! Your very blood will be used to help bring your enemy back to life!

Your adventure is over…

YOU ARE DEAD

(This book is brutal I know..)

@Spoopy Roy G. Biv,

You are still being chased be a detachment of cultist, it's a good thing you are a robot or else you would be passing out from exhaustion by now, who knows what's keeping your pursuers going…

Roll your 2 dice or suffer robodeath

((Not sure if I'll be available over the weekend. If not I'll act again on Monday.))

Mizzenmast nearly doubled over, gasping for breath. How many of these fucking guys were there? Was everyone in the whole damn town a cultist?

But this wasn't necessarily a bad thing.They were looking for information, and they'd just found a bunch of guys who might have what they needed.

Mizzenmast glanced at Chrysopoeia. "How likely do you think it would be for us to capture one of those guys?"

Chrysopoeia turned to Snickerway and laughed. "Simple, darling. All we need is to find some good, strong, cult-hating mercenaries and hire them for a night. Then one of us, preferably not me, needs to act as the bait, and get a small group of them chasing after us again."

@Spoopy Roy G. Biv,

Your robotic body (combined with your luck) makes your escape from the pirates an easy task. Not before long the sounds of "ARGH!" are lost in the distance of the city.

However this also means that your straight sprinting has completely separated you from the group. You wonder what has become of them but quickly dismiss the thought for your own sense of self preservation.

You take refuge besides a harbour wall, crabs snap at your metallic feet as sailors continue there hard graft and work unloading cargo on and off some nearby boats.

At this moment in time you are safe, however you must continue your journey…

Interact with the immediate environment or go straight ahead and make a choice…

@Spoopy Roy G. Biv,

You decide to call upon the knowledge of the temple, climbing up from the harbour wall you set off in its direction. You attract a few glances here and there but people are more wary of you than threatening.

With the threat of a voodoo cult springing up in the city, you decide you have a valid reason for going to the top and getting the help of the Overpriest himself. The Overpriest holds court within the most magnificent temple in the city – The Grand Temple of Vinar. Entering the pillared marble hall, leading into the temple, you join the queue of hopeful petitioners who would seek an audience with his Excellency the Primate of the God of Pride. A last it is you who stands before the pupit next to the doors leading to the Overpriest's inner sanctum.

A pasty looking priest stares down at you with barely suppressed contempt ' I'm sorry but his Excellency is otherwise engaged in the Ritual of the Sixth Hour at this time' says the underling. 'He will not be able to see you now. Come back again tomorrow'. Two armed priests, wearing ceremonial armour, cross their halberds in front of you. You plead with the cleric but nothing will change his mind – not even the mention of voodoo. There is no way you will be granted access to the over priest. As you you turning to leave, the priest calls out in a patronising tone. 'Wouldn't you care to make an offering to Vinar?'

A charitable man is one to respect and honour.

Do you make a gold donation?

Or do you keep your gold to yourself?

@Snickerway and Particle Mare,

A 2nd floor window opens opposite you exposing the darkened silhouette of a bulky housewife. She nonchalantly throws a bucket of shit out into the street. Delightful. Fortunately you are just out out of splash range.

She pauses for a moment before closing the window, spying the pair of you in the evening mist.
'Oi! what are you doing lingering about down there! get out of it you dirty drunkards!'

Yeah, sure I'll donate. If I get to pick the amount, I'll donate 10g. I'll probably be dismantled into gears and springs in a few turns anyway, chuckle.

KYFPMM has joined the game, starting outside the Jolly Rodger Inn

@KYFPMM

Here we are, outside that damned Inn again, you feel as though you have been here before, a deja-vu so lifelike that you almost enter a trance of existential measures.

Without putting to much though into it you push the thought to one side and let the craving for adventure consume your mind once more.

You've had enough of the taverns for one evening so you decide that further pub crawling is off the cards for today.

So, Lincoln, you are all by yourself, you know nobody in this city having just arrived from a previous adventure…and by arrived we mean shipped here in the back of a merchant boat. For what reason exactly nobody knows but somebody wanted you here for some unknown reason.

The only things you know of this place is that the Port is infested with occultists and pirates.

Begin your adventure by making a choice…

Do you venture to
The notorious gambling pits?
The markets?
The temple quarter?
or
Go to see governor Montargo?

@Particle Mare and Snickerway

Not wanting to leave his new friend behind in this rat infested dump the otherworldly humanoid hauls him over his shoulder. Saving him from any further insults from the shit chucking landlady.

You head towards the Temple Quarter.

Upon arrival you see a familiar shape, the mechanical machination…

@Particle Mare and Snickerway and Spoopy Roy G. Biv

You are reunited as a trio.

Temmie donates 10 gold to the Grand Temple of Vinar a mighty show of philanthropy indeed! some might take such an act as a display of economic prowess. Money flexing.

The lowly priest thanks you as per protocol whilst the two armoured monks give you a nod of acknowledgement.

You mentally brace yourself, awaiting some sort of renewed vitality. Surely a benefit will be granted upon you for such an act? more skill points, stamina…maybe luck?…

Unfortunately there is nothing…strange, after all you are machine, an ungodly intelligence. Hm maybe we will just have to wait and see.

With the temple closed for the evening and church goers leaving there is little else here to see.

However before you go the priest lets out purposeful cough before gesturing towards the donations box…

Will Jim or Chrysopoeia make a donation?

Choose if you do or do not want to donate, whichever you decision you must decide where you will venture to next. It looks as though you have time to visit one more place before the night sets in…

The notorious gambling pits?
The markets?
or
Go to see governor Montargo?

@KYFPMM,

With balls of steel you decide that you are going to go straight to the top with this one and pay a visit to Governor Montargo, basically to tell him how crappy his port town is.

The Old Fort, residence of the Governor of the Port of Crabs, stands at the top of the hill on which most of the Old Town Quarter of the city is built. You climb the hill and arrive outside the grim stone building. The whole edifice looks like it could withstand an army's onslaught for weeks, even though it is now several centuries old. As you approach the guards at the gate, he asks you your business, and you demand an audience with the Governor Montargo. ' Oh yeah?' sneers the guard. 'I can't let just anyone in here can I. It's more than my job's worth'

What do you do?

Attempt to bribe the guard? if so, with how much gold?

Outright threaten him with cold steel? you will have balls of pure diamond.

Or you could just leave, of which you have 2 choices…

Head to the markets?

Head to the gambling pits?

Lincoln started to think a little and noticed that he is outnumbered right now. decided to leave and maybe comeback later.
As he pondered about were to go he thought that definitely he should not go to the gambling bits but the markets are not that safe either, so he will go the markets but along the way look for some clothes to blend better with the locals even if he as to kill one to get some clothes .

I'll let you guys decide. On my own, it seems all I've managed to do is waste half my gold. I think I'll leave the thinking up to you meat-brains this time. =P

It gestures to the priests that it's with the robot-thing and that the donation was for all three of them, heheheheh.

We go to the markets. Better spend this gold before we get more opportunities to waste it.

(Back to it!)

@KYFPMM,

'Yeah that's right, clear off' the guard shouts as you take a few steps in retreat. You leave the Old Fort, Residence of Governor Montargo.

On your way to the market your eyes catch sight of a clothes line hanging between two houses in the darkness of an alleyway. Draping from it are what you would consider to be normal every day attire. And by that I mean a scraggy tunic and mole-skin breaches.

You quickly pluck them off the clothing line and dart off to another side-street where you change your outfit. It fits quite well but smells bad and is damp which is quite offputting. (You lose 1 point of stamina)

You put your standard journeyman attire into your rucksack.

You arrive at the market…

The port's sprawling markets lie within the Merchant Quarter, which runs from Farthing Lane to Moneylenders Street. You have two possible options now…

What do you do?..

Do you look for practical equipment around the market stalls?

Do you visit the Port of Crabs lively Bazaar in search of more exotic and expensive wares?

@Spoopy Roy G. Biv, Particle Mare and Snickerway.

The priest looks at you, quite visibly annoyed by your lack of charity. 'Very well…' he mutters.

You make your way from the temple, caught in the crowd of churchgoers heading home for the night. Lining the side of the streets are beggers in various states of pre-death.

(Due to Lincolns clothing he manages to blend well into the crowd, making it impossible to discern the adventurer from the average hussle and bussle. You remain as a trio)
