The original Voice actress was Tabitha St.Germain, VA for Rarity, Luna and Granny Smith. As for the new voice, we don't know who did it.

Regarding the whole Hasbro receiving complaints thing (don't worry I'm not raging, I'm just wondering outloud) I wonder how many complaints they received in reality. I think many of the complaints were not from soccer moms who don't understand where the term "Derpy" comes from but from some Bronies that didn't like it.

Then again, to make such an edit to a show is kinda drastic. I mean, not even Nintendo changed "evolution" in Pokemon when Churches were decrying it as the spawn of Satan and burning Pikachus in the street. And then we had the whole "spongebob is gay and making kids gay" thing hit national news but the Spongebob guys didn't feel they needed to make Spongebob more "masculine".

So the only two outcomes are that Hasbro are really playing it safe, or they received some serious complaints, either in number or from some very important people.

I was going to explain to Gigatoast why "Derpy" was found offensive so you wouldn't have to do that. I regret not making that decision.

Here's a summary:

If you do not understand why "Derp" has been found offensive that's because you understand how the word originated on the internet and how it is used on the internet.

"Derp" was never invented with the intention of referring to disabled people in particular, that much is true. It originated as a method of expressing googly faces and stupid actions and on the internet that is exactly what we use it for. As such, most people here don't draw the connection between Derp and disability.

But what you may not understand is how "Derp" has been used in real life. From my understanding kids in the school ground have been using "Derp" to mock the special needs kids.

Those kids are flat out wrong in their usage of the word, but they did it anyway. Why? Because kids are assholes. That needs no explanation.

Now here's the thing: Those kids who get insulted by being called "Derps" get their very first impression of the word from that, so do their parents. So those kids don't think "Derp" means 'googly face' or 'stupid action'. They think it means 'you'. And when 'you' is depicted as a cross eyed, slow speeched wall smashing clutz in your favorite cartoon…you may not appreciate it.

You may also ask Hasbro to change it, which you have every right to do.

So Gigatoast, you can argue all day wether or not "Derp" is offensive to you personally or if the word itself is intentionally offensive or not. If you say it isn't, I would even agree with you. But it doesn't matter now. Someone found it offensive anyway and that the reality of the situation. Complaints were filed, action was taken and history is set in stone. There's nothing you can do about it.

Now Daniel is sick of everyone being melodramatic and overly serious and demands we stay out of his shed, Pyro is being a Drama queen (seriously, wtf?) and Citation hates us even more now.

All because of this Drama…

It's actually Gaz/Ghost (they both have the same VA) who says it, not Price.

Well thanks for at least citing an example, that's really all I needed. I don't think I can ever be sure that's really true, I doubt that's the real cause of the problem, and it's still a reeeaaaly flimsy insult, but at least I have some kind of context.

Unfortunatly, it's just to bad that flimsy insults ruin it for everbody. As I mentioned though, I wouldn't be as annoyed if the new dub wasn't so half assed.

It is a long shot, but if a box set ever does get made, I hope they use the unaltered version, otherwise I'll have to skip that episode, which would be a shame since non Derpy wise it was good.

WTF? I just downloaded Last roundup yesterday, that is, after iTunes took it down, but derpy is cross eyed and completely intact.
Mabye its because I bought the season pass or something, but I didn't have it up until yesterday. Not kidding. Can everyone double check theirs or something. Thats kinda strange.

Allow me to try and explain this in a broader way.

I still have two pages to catch up to, but fuck that. I was away today.

What Daniel means is that the fandom is starting to split up. For examples I will name a list of groups. These might be incorrect and a lot of variety is possible between them. But I'll just use them to discuss the main things.

Do note that everything is based on people that actually are bronies, big and small. And grammar might suck here and there, but I'm not in a mood to check for mistakes. Deal with it.

1. Perhaps best to be described as the hardcore bronies. They join in most of the discussions and love doing so. Often overanalyzing the show, they are aware of everything that happens. These people commonly make the tl;dr posts.

2. Daniel's example descibed this group as just ponyfags. They just want to have fun in the fandom. They don't care if Derpy is renamed to Baloney, grows a fourth eye, and gets a cutie mark of a turd with green dots. They just want to have fun. Let this be through image macros, comics, random art, dumb posts. The more random, the better. As long as it's fun.

I keep it with these two to follow Daniel's example. Most people probably fit in both groups, having something in common with both.

Both groups can get butthurt. But over different stuff.

Group 1 tends to get butthurt over stuff like Derpy. Having a fully fledged headcanon, change is not something they like to see. They tend to forget it's just a cartoon. Whereas group 2 mainly gets annoyed over group 1. Don't liking all the butthurt and the constant overanalyzing. It's not the random fun they want to see. Often breaking tension by posting images. But as these image posts might turn into spam, group 1 tends to get annoyed.

But don't forget we're all part of the same fandom. Being part of a fandom is a give and take. Not everything goes as you want it. So sometimes you should deal with it and man the fuck up.
