@Ric Tesla.

The funny/scary part is that I come from a christian background and after a few episodes, I automatically labeled Rainbow Dash as a lesbian.

I had a girl in my class with a MLP backpack. After deciding to talk to her, our conversation went like this:

"Your backpack is lame."
"What?!"
"Where the heck is Twilight Sparkle, why is there only Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash on it?"

She then proceeded to have sex with you. On the spot.

@jacob: hey, it's not nice to just assume things. Until they actually come out with an episode where Rainbow comes out of the closet (that was worded strangely), you have no canon proof. Does Rainbows+tomboy=lesbian? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

To be fair, Jacob is far from the only one to assume she is a lesbo.

Well, I don't think it's out of the question for her to be one. In fact, with homosexuality being rather common in animal nature, and the general lack of stallions (and interest in them, for that matter), it would almost be safe to assume that many mares are homosexual. Almost.

But until we get that episode, anything's possible. MLP is actually developing very quickly, compared to other children's shows (cough cough Spongebob), and I hope the show will mature along with the viewers.

Although the Derpy thing set us back a few years, at least.

Ammm guys, this thread got me a bit worried… http://boards.4chan.org/mlp/res/693756

I am not worried by the fact that there is going to be a pony doujin, but the reactions in the thread..

Now i know that a lot of bronies on /mlp/ came from /b/ and we can expect them to act stupid but still, the amount of posts claiming that they are excited is too large.

Even worse is the fighting in the thread itself. with people cussing and screaming WEEBOOS! FURFAGS! and HORSEFUCKER!

this is not the behavior is expect from bronies at all. Even though it's 4chan, the crap that is being stirred up in this thread makes me a bit worried…

Your toughts?

Godhatessinners.com is the blog where that post came from.

Awesome
One of the awards has me voting between my two favorite ponies, and another has me voting between Tara Strong (who also did Timmy Turner) and Jennifer Hale (femshep is best shep).

Meh, I wouldn't make an account just to vote anyways.

Also, I heard some of you like Fire Emblem, so someone put ponies in your Fire Emblem so you can pony while you Fire Emblem.

@ Rainbow Dash homosexuality

I would first like to say (once again) that I have nothing against homosexuality, but I don't like the fact that because a female is a tomboy and happens to be rainbow colored makes her a lesbian in everyone's eyes. Everyone's allowed to believe what they'd like, but it seems so deeply rooted into fannon that it's all you see. I feel somewhat the same way with Lyra and Bon-Bon, but I think that developed over time rather than instantly happening.

In other words, I hate it because it's overdone, and anything against it is considered unacceptable by many. Also, an episode with Rainbow Dash coming out of the closet is never going to happen. You can debate it whether or not that's acceptable, but it won't happen. The majority of the target demographic wouldn't understand it, and the parents would be in an uproar. You have to remember this is a kids show.

Also, is this a reference to something?

Can't help but feel I've seen it somewhere.

I know its not nice to "assume" things, but I was raised in a super-conservative family where homosexuality was frowned upon. As I grew up I learned that I disagree with everything my parents believed in, but I still have the funny instances where my religious background will stereotype personalities such as: "She seems like a lesbian."

Dear God… Never thought I'd see the day when somebody posted anything to do with End of Ponies in this thread. Tl;dr incoming!

It's a post-apocalyptic fanfic of an absolutely ridiculous length. It would therefore seem natural to compare it to Fallout: Equestria, but that doesn't seem fair in my opinion. Fallout: Equestria has a huge focus on action and gore, and lacks originality in many ways. Being a crossover fic, you should expect it to incorporate some of the Fallout lore, but at times it really takes it too far. There are some chapters that mirror events in the Fallout universe so closely that I'd figured out what was going to happen way in advance of the actual story. End of Ponies on the other hand is completely original, and focuses more on the experiences of the main character as she fights to restore Equestria to its former glory. There is some violence in it, but it's not the main focus of the fic. There's one scene about 15 chapters in that grabs you by the heartstrings and yanks on them until you're begging for mercy, and Fallout: Equestria never even comes close to that.

The fic opens with scenes from the apocalypse. It's the usual horrific cataclysm from your nightmares that you should expect from this sort of thing. It then cuts to the future, following the last surviving pony as she aimlessly wanders through the wastelands of Equestria. The first few chapters are pretty hard to get through as they make the wasteland seem like a seriously depressing place. The writer does a great job of describing the hopelessness of the situation the last pony finds herself in. The scene depicted in that image is from chapter one, as the main character hunts a phoenix to extract valuable resources from it (sounds grim, but this is the apocalypse, so what did you expect?). Those things on her front-right leg are unicorn horns, and it's hard for me to explain why she wears them without giving too much away. Unlike the robots-and-lasers sci-fi you see in Fallout: Equestria, this fic has a heavy steampunk influence, and it also has time travel (and time travel is awesome).

There's a pretty huge twist about 4 chapters in, and that's where the fic gets really, really interesting. I've been hooked on fics before, but never like this one. In length, I believe it's currently at about three quarters the length of Fallout: Equestria, and it's only about half done (next update will put it far ahead of Fallout: Equestria, and you can expect to see it within the next month). It also contains quite possibly the coolest looking OC pony in existence:

It's easily my favourite fic of all time, and I've read a shitload of fics. I finished reading the latest chapters a couple of months ago, and I'm still eagerly waiting for the next batch (it releases chapters in huge chunks that are about the size of an average novel). It's a bit more mature than something like Past Sins, and it's pretty damn gritty, but if that's the kind of thing you're into I can't recommend it enough.

Here's the official site. Never heard of it before, but I might as well contribute my opinions.

Equestria Daily featuring this pretty much murdered the other candidates. I really feel bad for the non-pony VAs.

I've got to go with Tara Strong, because her sheer talent as VA overrides anything Andrea Libman has got on her. I feel like the Twilight voice isn't up to her standards (or at least, I don't enjoy it as much), but best female voice actor? Hands down, Tara Strong by far. No competition there. And she's being nominated for the Fairly Oddparents? Weird.

Sweetie Belle is like the cutest pony ever, and every time she opens her mouth my blood sugar levels get dangerously high. Scootaloo and Apple Bloom come close, but when it comes to diabeetus, no one does better than Sweetie Belle.

I envision a bright future for Clair Corlett.

Discord is best villain. That is all.

No idea about the other "Breakthrough" category people, but Ashleigh Ball having both Rainbow Dash and Applejack is going to be tough to beat.

Seriously? Tabitha didn't get nominated? Did the BTVA people hear her whining in "A Dog and a Pony Show?" (hehe pony show). I'd pick her over the rest of the mane 6 any day.

For the best cast, I have no idea why they didn't do FiM despite it being nominated in 4 different categories. Probably didn't want it to be a clean sweep. Never thought about it, but yeah, Futurama has some pretty tight voice acting. Billy West is a cool guy.

@rainbow dash
Why did I bring this up again? I have a bad habit of reviving dead and awkward discussions in this thread.

Twins wrote:

Yeah, I'm a fanfic geek, one of the few things that even the average brony will think is a little weird (but hey, at least it beats R34-fag). I once worked my way backwards through every single page of EqD to add up every fanfic I'd ever read (Most boring. Afternoon. Ever). The total was somewhere close to a hundred, but it's almost certainly surpassed that by now. I read most of them last summer, and I'm barely reading at all these days. That's mostly because the majority of fanfics these days just reuse ideas I've already seen a million times before, and I get easily annoyed at poor writing styles. Occasionally a fanfic will emerge that's so good that everyone hears about it (Fallout: Equestria, Past Sins, On a Cross and Arrow, etc), but that hasn't happened in quite a while.

Also, I'm not sure I really want to know this, but why are you so surprised? There had to be at least one compulsive fanfic reader here.

That totally doesn't count as 'great detail'. Algernon 1, RandomMan 0.

Speaking of which, you guys remember that silly little thing I started writing back in like June, and I haven't updated since November?
Yep
It's short, but it's something.
Damn, it feels good to finally finish this chapter.

ThinkGeek just made the most subtle MLP shirt ever.

Hydrogen: Everyone remembers Hydrogen. How could you forget? There it is, right on the top of the periodic table. #1. It's so fabulous that you can find it everywhere you go.

Argon: Known as "the lazy one," Argon is probably taking a nap somewhere. Being a high-flying noble gas is hard work, you know.

Molybdenum: Hard and stable, Molybdenum is used in high strength steel alloys. It's not a free metal on Earth, but when you have it, you can honestly depend on it to stand by you.

Nitrogen: A necessary part of our atmosphere, Nitrogen is present in all living things. And let's not forget nitrous oxide! Nothing like wearing the mask at the dentist's office and giggling until you turn pink.

Yttrium: Named for a small village in Sweden, Yttrium is proof that if you're nice to little things, they'll reward you with magical friendship the phosphors we need to make sweet LEDs.

Them being seriouse makes me laugh even HARDER!! XXXDDDD

I think religion is more evil than a tv show.Religion has caused more than thousand death and sorrow throughout the centuries.Religion make people live in fear of the unknown.Religion created many wars.Religion is money (Church of Scientology).Seriously, know who's the real evil.

What's wrong with homosexuality ? Doesn't mean that you're gay you are automatically an abomination of the devil(or watever you call this).Homosexual behavior is known in over 1500 animal species (here's a link to a search I did on the internet).

Another thing,Doesn't mean that Rainbow dash is tomboyish that she's automatically lesbian. Why everything with rainbow color has to be associated with the gay community anyway ?

I don't blame anyone for being religious. But for me,It's just some kind of mind control to keep the society from evolving.

Their lord jesus was supposed to teach them how to be lovely & tolerant toward Non-Believer.It's even said in the bible that christians shouldn't judge other because they shall be judged one day. What happened to their famous philosophy quote «Love thy neighbor as yourself».If they think this show promote witchcraft. They should know that Jesus walked on the water, he healed sick using some sort of magic, he performed miracle, etc. So if Jesus didn't use some sort of witchcraft,I sincerely dunno what it is.

Some interesting fact:
>The holy trinity is like worshipping three god.So you disobey to your own ten commandment
>Christmas root come from a pagan celebration called Saturnalia (The Roman God of justice).
>Easter was a pagan celebration before the world was christianised.

If you think God is in you then Satan must be in you too.Nothing in this world is black or white.Sorry, but it was my opinion on this subject.Just let you know I respect your belief no matter what religion you are but for me,I just think religion is useless.Deal with it

.

The fourth reason:I admit the fic cupcake was evil & gory (even myself I was shocked and,I'm not someone easy to offend). But still,Do not read something that is already offensive if you know that you are easy offended by those kind of topic.

The last reason:
This reason was too dumb for my opinion. That's just sexist

END OF THE TOPIC

Let just love and tolerate the crap out of them

OH GOD!

Is flashing in public illegal?

Oh sh-

I've read a good amount of fanfics, I'll admit, though I'm generally intimidated by the long ones like Fallout: Equestria. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

I only stick to the ones on Equestria Daily though. I generally like the ones about depression, isolation, growing apart, growing up, etc. You know, all that happy, feel-good stuff. The first one I read was this one mainly because it was around the time I joined the fandom and I still had no idea who Derpy was.

My favorites include:
The one I just posted
Past Sins – I liked the first 10 chapters, but the next 9 or so seemed to drag. But chapters 8, 10, and 19 (I think) actually managed to bring a tear to my eye, and that's more than what I can say for some other stuff I read, including non-pony stuff.
Eternal- I really don't like how it enters this one plot focus that drags for ever and ever later in the story, but the beginning and the end are very well written. I like how bittersweet it is, the ending is both happy and sad. Because for some reason I enjoy feeling depressed.
Transcendence – I read this only a few days ago, but I was so attached to the story that when I finished reading I realized "Holy crap, that wasn't actually happening" after I reached the end (it's still in progress).

That's not to say I haven't enjoyed a few happy fics (I do like short slice of life ones), but I just can't stand the overly light-hearted comedies where everyone is always super happy. Also, I might check out the "End of Ponies" when I get a chance. It seems dark and it's not a crossover like Fallout: Equestria. I generally find crossovers very cheesy.

I also considered writing my own, since I used to write my own short stories for fun, but whenever I get an idea I find out it's been done already.

Does this make me a sex offender now?

I LOVE Religion debates! But I will not clog the pony thread with them.

I'm writing a fic right now, but it is taking me a l………o…………n……..g……. time to write it…
If you all really want, it's here but it is hardly any length at all… As a matter of fact, it might be better to ignore that link for now.

Do it filly.

Pretty good, overall.

But, is Pinkie super-psychic, or something, being able to know every detail with that level of accuracy?

As for this discussion of fanfics:

The few I've read (My Little Dashie, Sweetie's Letter, Dreaming with Ponies, and Connor's thing) were all pretty good. My Little Dashie made me cry harder than I ever have, Sweetie's Letter gave me diabeetus, and Dreaming with Ponies made my eyes water, because it was a good kind of sad.

Oh, yeah, I also read Black & White, which didn't make me cry. It just made me depressed for a few days.

Damn, it feels good to finally finish this chapter.

I was going to read it but it's that long? 13. Whole chapters. The only ones I've read are the one with a meme entry (that I really don't want to bring up), and Connor's 2 chapter sadfic. 13 whole chapters… even if it's the best fanfic ever (and it looks pretty nice from the paragraph or two I read before I became utterly confused of all the previous plot developments), I'm not sure I can hold in all that fanon without exploding.

Good thing you finally finished it though. Although, a little inappropriate coming from me since I joined in only 3 months ago.

@algernon
I wouldn't say the fanfic has to be good for everyone to hear it. It has to interesting. Like Fallout: Equestria doesn't seem like a very good fanfic from what you've described it as, but the sheer length and scope of it gives it its claim to fame. Then we have that one with a meme page. Yeah.

You really read all of the fanfics posted on Equestria Daily at one point? How did you manage to like, not die from all those missing commas and run on sentences and horenduos speliing and out-of-character characters and plotholes (no not that kind of plothole) and stuff?

@Fridge Logic
This has been posted about 200 times in this thread, but

It's the Elements. Of Harmony. With magical friendship.

That's genius. Subtle enough not to alert the world to your existence as a brony, but at the same time, yet an easy enough reference for even the newest of bronies.

OK, so I currently have an advert on the top of the screen for "My Little Pony toothpaste." Is KYM keeping track of the bronies on the site?

Also, what do you think MLP toothpaste would taste like? Do you think it'd taste like the cupcakes? Because those were good. Especially the rainbow flavored ones.

@Explosive Lasers
I have no idea how Pinkie does it. I make this shit up as I go along.
It'll have something to do with the Omega Waves that I mentioned, along with earth pony magic and her Pinkie Sense.
I just wish I had more time to write than two hours a week on Saturday morning…

I wouldn't say Fallout: Equestria is bad. I'd actually say the exact opposite. It is pretty intimidating when you consider it's almost the length of the entire Harry Potter series, but if you just try to enjoy it one chapter at a time it's pretty damn good. I'm two chapters from the end, but for some reason I can't bring myself to actually finish it. In my last post I was just trying to compare it to End of Ponies, and I was pointing out the flaws that it has that End of Ponies manages to avoid. Despite its flaws, it's still one of the best fanfics out there. There was one chapter in Fallout: Equestria that was so unnerving that it put me in a bad mood for a couple of days (that's a good thing, in case you're wondering). For a while I was looking forward to new chapters more than I was looking forward to new episodes, and I could sit and read them for hours at a time, so it's by no means a bad fic.

No, I didn't actually read all of them (that would be beyond insane). I mean I went through them and counted all of the ones I'd already read (a tiny fraction of the total amount). There was a point where I was reading almost every 5 or 6 star fic going, and that alone was pretty time consuming, but even then there were a tonne of them that I was avoiding. I usually avoid anything that has less than a 5 star rating, since I get easily annoyed by bad grammar and bad characterisations and stuff, but I've found a few 4-star gems in my time.

Explosive Lasers wrote:

I never understood the hype around My Little Dashie. I might have found it more saddening if the main character didn't seem like so much of a creep to me. It seemed to me like the writer had self-inserted himself and tried to express his desires to be a father, but in a really creepy, overprotective kinda way. There was also the problem that it was incredibly hard to buy. If a fic takes place in Equestria, I'll accept just about anything (except Derpy having two daughters, that's just plain stupid), but if it takes place on Earth, you'll need a better excuse for strange occurrences than 'because magic'. I guess the ending was pretty sad, but nowhere near the tear-jerking brilliance that people make it out to be.

(Don't even get me started on Rainbow Factory)
