dear princess celestia.
today i learned that bronies are way fucking good at TF2 and will carry your ass through the hardest difficulty of Mann vs Machine.
also i found a robot head wrench so pretty much good day, important friendship were made
John de Lancie signed my The Friendship Express DVD. Heard him narrate The Magic Flute (opera). Could not unhear Discord. Hung out with Fifths most of the time. Ate at some really fancy restaurant.
It was a good time.
Also, look at this. Specifically, the URL/post number. And the characters in the picture.
Y'all gonna get enough of that Fluttershy stuff one day.

Yep.
Notice how Fluttershy can "f### up a n####". No site, no matter what grammatical error, does not warrant that. So, what happened was that the descriptions were either shopped or the site was hacked. Probably shopped in all seriousness.
I was trying to get people discussing and over-analyzing a troll attempt. You foiled my plans Popper! But I'll get you next time!
@BSOD
I actually found that in this site's pony image gallery. I checked Derpibooru hoping to find the sauce but I didn't see it there.
Geez, this post of mine here could use more pony.

At least take a pic of your signed dvd.

Alright, I feel refreshed. Here are the events of Saturday and Sunday for anyone interested.
The Train: I woke up early on Saturday and began the transit to Ravinia. I brought my guitar, a blanket, and some snacks in preperation for the long day ahead. On the train, I found myself seated next to a pretty girl and was about to strike up a conversation with her when my ears picked up at something that sounded suspiciously like "Fluttershy". I look over to my other side, and sure enough there are four bronies seated right next to me arguing over best pony. This presented me with two appealing, but mutually exclusive options: Talk to the sexy lady or talk to the bronies. Well, I figured the world is full of sexy ladies, and this is the first time I've ever run into bronies before, so I shunned that pretty face and began to demonstrate that Rainbow Dash is in fact best pony.
Ignoring the fact that none of them seemed able to grasp the simple fact that Dashie is best pony, they were actually pretty cool. There were two musicians and one artist amongst them. One of them actually brought wine and cheese for everyone, so that left me feeling sophisticated as fuck. We got off at the train stop and many bronies began to conglomerate as we made our way to the Martin theatre.
Before the show: The group of bronies I had ingratiated myself with gathered at the entrance to the park to gather late comers. I whipped out my guitar and began to sing a few pony songs while we waited, which I think was enjoyed. I even got some of the staff dancing along to my songs of magical ponus solving the problems of life with friendship, which made me feel really good. Verbose showed up and there was only a short awkward period before conversation started flowing smoothly. Once it seemed all the bronies had arrived (about 50 in total, exceeding my initial expectations 10 fold) we made our way into the park and set up around a tree and waited for the show to begin.
The show: Ok, first thing that needs to be realized is that we all had lawn tickets, meaning we didn't actually get to see the opera. We heard it played over speakers scattered throughout the park. Now the thing about The Magic Flute is that it isn't really an opera proper, it's a singspiele, basically a musical that uses classical music. Large portions of it are supposed to be acted out regularly in front of the audience, and since it's in German, just being able to hear that would leave most people wondering what the hell was going on.
Hence why they brought in John de Lancie as narrator. De Lancie basically replaced all the non-sung parts of the opera with a spoken summary of what was happening. Yes, he did sound like Discord when he did it (There was a part in the beginning where he mentions the word 'harmony' and you could hear the entire group collectively squee while the rest of the people in the park looked at us like we were fucking lunatics.) The thing that I really appreciated about de Lancie's narration is that he did a really good job of making the play accessible to modern audiences. The story of the Magic Flute is extremely convoluted and rife with sexist undertones. John simultaneously poked fun at these and did his best to help the audience follow and have fun with the narrative. I read a review of the opera and it described de Lancie's narration as "Amused and amusing" which I think hit the nail right on the head.
As far as the music itself was concerned, ya it was pretty good. It was Mozart so of course I enjoyed it. I will say I did have one major disappointment and that was in the Queen of the Night aria.
This is one of my favorite pieces from the Magic Flute, and I had been humming it all week in anticipation of getting to hear a professional rendition live. Most people wouldn't notice it, but it's obvious to someone who has listened to this aria a number of times that the singer was doing a bad job of it. She ignored notes in some of the quicker flourishes and she sounded ready to break apart on the aria's infamous "High F". I didn't have any complaints with the rest of the opera, but that aria rustled me slightly.
After the opera: After the opera was completed, we all went and hunted down de Lancie. The guy was…really cool. What really made him shoot up by twenty cool guy points was when someone said to him "Thank you for inviting us out here." and he replied "Well, you guys like sharing your stuff with me, figured I'd try sharing my stuff with you."
Inside my head: "What a boss."
The Verbose: I hung out with Verbose the rest of the day and he was a real pleasure to be around, interesting fellow and good conversation. We even met again on Sunday and hung around the city a few more hours before he had to leave.
It was a kickass weekend.
So for some reason I thought I would check out the MLP board on 4chan to see what all the fuss is about.

@Lyra: …
You know what, now that you bring it up it kinda does. Then again, I imagine they'd have difficulty finding a blue brighter than your coat color, so ehhhh, forgivable error.
@Iamslow: Applecest is now canon. God help us all.
(lol, fake)
@Maplejet: Because it's a clopfic. For God's sake you should have known what you were getting into.
@Popper: Oh please. Everyone knows it's canon that Fluttershy ain't afraid to slap a nigga if the shit goes down. You see the stuff she did to that bear? She can fuck yo ass up. She can fuck my ass up. Ain't no-one messes with Fluttershy. Ain't no-one.
@Omni: You made a mistake. You made a terrible mistake.
Only the hardened should go onto /mlp/.

I was at the Magical Flute on Saturday where John de Lancie did his narration and autographed stuff. Unfortunately, I don't buy MLP Merch, so he signed my wallet. At first he was like "Black on black, let's see how that ends up." and then we laugh, but somepony handed me a silver permanent marker so I was happy. :D

That is amazing.
They should really bring him back on the show.

But in all seriousness, I would have been pissed to just get lawn tickets. It's eithier in the Opera or Bust.
Good to see you had fun though. I'm surprised something could convince Verbose to associate with a bunch of ponu fans.
Though I guess he has a ready made excuse "I was there to listen to the Opera". He probably says it in a posh English accent to convince himself that he didn't integrate with the unwashed pony autistic faggot masses.
@Fifths, great to see you had a fun experience like that. I hope I can do the same someday.
Also it's bronies before honies so glad to see you honor the code. /)
Rather interesting
@Bruno:
Noticed 'Eternal' wasn't on there.
Anyways, good to see I didn't miss much, other than Fifths and Verbose having secret sex and trying to cover it up.
@Bruno's chart
I personally like FOE:PH more than FOE, i find the characters more interesting
and FOE didn't end very well.
FOE:PH is also longer and still not even complete yet.
I have read most of those other stories.
Still need to finish IDBGOYD though.
Why do I have to show pictures? I suck at taking pictures.
Anyway, I drove into Chicago on Friday, and slept at a hotel. That morning, I watched Puss in Boots. Fifths texted me and asked where I was. I figured I shouldn't tell him "watching Puss in Boots."
Anyway, I left and got there a while before the performance started. Fifths had given me a description of himself and a photo, so I spotted him right away (he also waved, so that helped.) I was the only black person there, so…yeah.
Anyway, we talked (about Derpy, the show, the fandom, music, etc.) while we were waiting for the performance to begin. It was nice.
Also, @burning_phoneix, I sang in choruses in high school. All-State chorus for a few years, at my university chorus for a semester, in quartets, etc. So I'm used to hearing choral pieces. I am no real stranger to opera, even though I don't regularly listen to classical performances.
Anyway, Mr. de Lancie (I feel odd about just calling him "de Lancie" or "John" or "John de Lancie") did sound a lot like Discord. The use of the words "harmony" and a couple of others certainly helped. It was great narration, the music from the orchestra was nice, the composition of it was alright, and the singing was OK. I did like the harmonizing from the female parts.
Afterwards was mostly chatting with Fifths. We went to this fancy restaurant, and the next day was mostly wandering in the city proper. It's good to talk to someone who knows a ton about the show and the fandom, but can also talk about other things as well.

@Verbose:
I find it interesting how you forgot to mention the secret sex you and Fifths had after the 'dinner at a fancy restaurant'.
Also, this:
I remember when she touched my summon sign.
'Twas an odd day.
@Verbose
What makes you think that I'd ridicule you for watching a kid's show when we're both fans of magical pastel colored ponies? I mean, I totally would have, but you have no reason to suspect that I would. I'm offended.
@Solaire
There was no secret sex. We went Dutch at the fancy restaurant and therefore had no way to determine who would go on top.
Also holy shit, that's a nice drawing.

@Fifths and Verbose
Nice!
That's great you got to see DeLancie.
Though, for some reason, I've always seen more of Q instead of Discord in him. But he did both excellently.
Anyway, that was great that you got to see him. Wonderful performance I assume.
@Solaire's remark about Fifths and Verbose

@Solaire
Well if they mentioned their secret sex, then it would not be secret now would it?
Not that their love affair ever was a secret. C'mon, we all knew Fifths wouldn't pass up such an opportunity
@Solaire
Anyway, here's Blossomforth.
Now, if someone could direct me a good Blossomforth fic, then I would greatly appreciate it.
probably a few "good" Blossomforth clop-fics out there… I'm not going to go looking for them though.
Speaking of clop-fics, I had a lucid dream about James Bond and Shaq fighting the Yakuza.
It wasn't sexual or anything, but I still came everywhere.
And with that, my new OTP is born. I support Fibose (rolls off the tongue, don't it?)
What have I been doing, you say?
No really, I've been busy with 2Bit Studios making a pony RPG. We got original story, original ponu, original canon-f*cking action.
Since I haven't been in here in… a while, I told myself "Hey, Slinky, why don't you exploit this place for shameless promotion give everyone a heads up on what you've been up to?"
So here I am sharing these sprites that newly appointed pixel artist Pix3M, affectionately dubbed 'The Pixel Dude', has made so far:
Click image for sauce
And this drawing of Slinkpony from fellow writer guipiment:
So with this… I am off!

Guess who's back!
How's everyone been?
Got back from my family vacation this morning, but I've been fighting the dual demons of 'exhaustion' and 'gotta catch up on four days of pony' for the past few hours.
Anyway, for my grandma's 80th birthday, she decided to treat her sons and some of her grandchildren to a three-day Carnival Cruise!
The trip was very fun on its own, but we're here for the ponies!
I did manage to bring some of my pocket ponies along, but getting away from everyone on a boat carrying ~3500 people was a little difficult so I only got a couple good shots.
The one time I was able to get them out during the daytime didn't end so well for Derpy.
She seems to have the worst luck sometimes…
It took Dash and I almost ten minutes to get her out of that rigging. upload picture
To avoid any weird glances, I had to wait until 1:30 a.m. to challenge Dash and Scoots to a game of chess, but the boat's set was not exactly… 'conductive' to ponies their size… photo upload
We just called it a draw and moved on.
We tried playing some mini-golf next, but Scootaloo slipped and the others were laughing too hard at her predicament to help her. upload picture
Needless to say, she was a little ticked at them afterward, but they all made up pretty quickly.
I believe someone once said 'Bath towel elephants solve all problems.'
…or something like that. upload pictures
So, all in all, a great weekend with family, but I'm glad to be back, too!
Onward!
To PONY!
@Verbose & Fifths
Glad to hear that you guys enjoyed the show!
Sounds like one heck of a time!
Meeting Mr. De Lancie in person like that must have been awesome!
(I'm still waiting for Equstria L.A. which will be my first real-life pony event so I always like hearing about successful meet-ups. It gives little social-phobic me some confidence about attending.)
@Deadparrot
Dat chess set…
Oh, you tried to play Dash? Not a good idea. She picked up the game pretty damn quick after I sat her down and taught her the rules and now she's giving me a serious run for my money. Come to think about it, she wins roughly half the games we play… (shut up, it's good excercise to play against yourself and it's funner to have a plushy staring you down)
Glad to see you had a good time and even better to see you back! I had a bad feeling all weekend that you might lose one of your plushies overboard and jump in after it!

I would find that awkward as hell, meeting someone on the internet IRL (lol online dating), and probably close up faster than a unsanitary Indian restaurant, but you know, whatever suits you.
And lolwut a bunch of bronies gathered up at an opera that had nothing to do with ponies for the sole reason of John de Lancie? Seems legit.

Inb4 massive pony hater backlash.
@Twins
you know, I expected meeting an internet person to be awkward as hell as well, but it really wasn't. Might be that I'm just such an affluent personality that I can pretty much get along with anyone ya fuck that, my default position towards any human being is fear and blinding hatred
Also, I got through Tiny Wings in one sitting. Just sayin (Protip: Skim through the corny melodramatic parts, aka all of it)
@Fifths
You may notice that none of those pictures are anywhere near the edge of the ship.
Yeah, I was damn nervous about dropping them, too.
The fact that those ships go deceptively fast and kick up a surprising amount of wind kept me quite far away.
Have an obligatory Derpy with muffin that was completely safe (and also very blurry, annoyingly):
@Twins
You again?
Get over here!
(These jokes about forcing you to read are fun enough that I almost don't want you to actually read it just to save the premise! Oh well. All thing must pass… once Twins stops being lazy…)
@Weird Al
I've said it before but I'll say it again: Al would be great!
He has a fun sense of humor and I'm sure he would want to write (or re-write) a song just for MLP which would be hilarious to hear.
Make it happen, Hub!

@Twins
I think meeting people IRL is about as awkward as meeting a person for the first time with a few differences. I think one difference is that you begin to have more open and free-flowing conversation more quickly, because you already know each other. I've met Fifths, opspe, Bob, olivia, Brad, Don, and amanda (have I really met 7 people from KYM?), and I think they were basically the same person they present themselves as online. Once you get past how that person looks like, you just start talking. I think I was fortunate that the people I've met have good, basic social skills, so it wasn't really uncomfortable at all.
If you get a chance to meet someone IRL (it may be different, because you're a girl,) then I would take it (if you think they'd be fun to hang out with and talk to.) All of my experiences have been pretty cool.
And I guess I also met semehammer and aphexangel. They were also cool people, but I didn't know them before hand.
Yes, that was just an excuse to post Fluttershy in the same pose as my Pinkie Pie print and Scootaloo in a bucket.
Warhammer 40K Space marine is coming in the mail today.
yus
I already play like the Dawn of War series, made a space marine chapter based on Luna's color scheme :3
actually looks alright, ice blue and necron purple.
Music time!
@Vikingbolt
I haven't played Warhammer 40k SPESS MAHREEN! In a while. We may lag as shit because of the distance but we should try extermantus mode together.

(Yeah, sorry I have it on Steam.)
@Warhammer 40k and shit:
Bronies that also like 40k.
4chan would have a field day with that.
As for why Viking has it on console, he did buy it on Steam originally, but it suffered from a fuck-ton of glitches. Like, seriously, it turned all the faces into grotesque mockeries of nature that would drive Stephen King to the brink of insanity.
I wonder where Ric is, speaking of Warhammer. All things considered, he should be going insane over the two Spess Mehreen players here.

Also holy crap that's a lot of plushies that's like five more than I have and maybe three more than I'll ever want.
@Weird Al:
I very much want this. On the subject of Fifths, yeah. That's going to happen. He's probably going to lose a small-ish chunk of his fanbase on this one.

Technically, air planes stall because of lack of airflow over the wings due to excessive angles of attack rather than because of weight :P
