Not gonna lie, referring to an actual couple as a portmanteau of the names of their My Little Pony original characters is kinda weird.

But kinky.

Huh, that is so funky. I dont think many communities can brag about this much of a crossover between fans and staff. I mean shit, actually dating.

Yeah, and according to Sibsy, she was actually the one to initiate it.
She reached out to him as a fan of his music first.
Gotta say, they make a cute couple (in pony-form and real life).

One thing I find really funny: I could swear that there was shipping art between their two OCs basically from the moment they were first seen hanging out together at cons and stuff.
(Brony artists have a tendency to do that.)
Could this be the first confirmed case of a crack shipping coming true?
What does this mean for the world of shipping?!
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE NOW!

On the toy front:

Looks like we're getting more of those three-piece sets sometime soon!
I think this will be the first Chrysalis that people can buy, but it also adds some other unexpected things.
Octavia's last name is apparently 'Melody' (which is ironically a rather unmelodious name/surname combination in my opinion) and what the heck is Twist-a-loo?!
Wait, don't answer that, Internet!
Don't!

Damn it…

So, I found this while browsing Derpibooru.

I think the answer's obvious…

Oh, and some more Equestria Girls news/drama/stuff to rustle your jimmies

I can already tell June's gonna be fun.

Isn't this supposed to be a made-for-tv movie?

Twist is Scootaloo's sister, it is now Canon! Maybe THAT explains why Scootaloo can't fly, she's really an Earth pony!

@Equestria girls in theaters. I think that is a horrible idea…..to have it in theaters at least. I think most bronies would watch it if it was a TV movie but now you're going to make bronies pay to go see it. And hell it's not like ALL bronies are quite out in the open about being a brony, I can imagine the spaghetti stories of 14 year olds wanting to go see it "Hey mom, can I have 11 dollars so I can go see Equestria Girls in theaters?" Hell, as excited as I was for this (not very, in fact I was only looking forward to it to give it a fair chance) I'm not paying to see it in theaters…..there probably won't be a theater within 50 miles around me playing this (I HIGHLY doubt this will get a huge ass Theatrical run like say Iron Man 3, this will probably only be in small theaters that show all those indie films).

I think Hasbro are seriously going at this in a wrong way, I'd POSSIBLY go see it if it was an actual MLP FiM movie in theaters where I'd have a 95% chance of loving it no matter what, but Equestria Girls…..this could seriously go either way, I'd hate to drive out 50 miles to see a movie I possibly won't want anything to do with honestly.

Inb4 Strawberryshortcake-guy HASBRO IS TRYING TO KILL THE BRONIES!

EDIT: Hell I found this picture on the image gallery a while ago

One is a picture of Rainbow Dash from Equestria girls and the other is a picture from one of those cancerous comics from Palcomix. People say the Equestria girls is worse because it's real compared to the comic that's made by people who make literal child porn comics. Yeah, this movie will do well.

Maybe that dream of yours is becoming reality…

Guys. GUYS.

I was looking through my email to see if any of you entered my contest when I found a letter from BronyCon. Now, a few months back, I suggested a Brony Karaoke panel for the convention, and I thought it wouldn't go anywhere. Now I get an email from DudeBro saying they want to help me get it to the con.

This is like the best day ever.

Well, we all did want a theatrical MLP movie. Be careful what you wish for…

If you're referring to strictly design, the porn design wins easily with its more realistic body proportions (although Dash's head is huge) and non-girly outfit. If you're referring to plot, if I had a choice between a clopfic and a High School AU fic, I'm picking the clop every day of the week.

@Jimmy Lethal
Reminds me of this picture

@Equestria Girls in theaters
I'm sure all of these highly skeptical, tech savvy young adult men will gladly pay $11 to go sit in a theater with a bunch of moms and their young daughters (a.k.a. the intended audience).
That sounds like a perfect plan!

Pfft- Nope!

To those of you who were involved in my little contest, you should be expecting a little surprise in the mail some time soon!

No no no, just a 'surprise,' not a Surprise like the pony.

Well, it will be a pony, but not Surprise… but it will be a surprise!
… except that I'm telling you all right now so I guess it won't be very surprising.
(Yeah, basically the packages for everyone who gave me their address went out either yesterday or today. Standard shipping said that they should be getting out within 7-8 days, but they could be faster in some cases depending on distance. Pretty much expect them sometime next week.)

Continuing the pattern:

Stallions love them some tail!

@xTSGx
See, I took it as evidence that Twilight and Shining simply take after their parents from their youth, but if you want to interpret it as some weird type of role-playing…

So they're expecting us to watch the movie in theaters now? Do they really think it's that good? Fine, if I can watch Dragonball Evolution in theaters, then I can watch this in theaters too. Although I had a friend with me when I saw DBE, I'm not sure if anyone wants to see Equestria Girls.

Hey guys, my [school / job / asylum] has given me a task that I could use some help with. The task is to create a 30 minute radio show about anything I choose, including a solid plan for it. Other than a few small restrictions (max of 2 music breaks, no references to anything offencive, etc) I can really make it about anything I want.

You guessed it! A 30 minute radio show about DeadParrot PONIES!
That's where you guys come in. I need material to fill this slot with, and I want you all to help me come up with it! So what would you want to see in a pony radio show? What would be good points to mention for the non-brony listeners? Who here is a good content producer or brony expert who would be able to hold a short interview? What 2 songs should I use in my music breaks? Can you explode twice? These are all questions that need to be answered.
And by the way, yes, it will be aired on the actual radio for random people to listen to, no it isn't a major station so it isn't really a huge deal, and maybe I'll post it here once it's done, but it depends on how much information about me personally that I will need to include.
And so not to break the pattern, have some tail rubs.

Oh, wait, I think I did it wrong.

'Sup plebs!
I said that I'd post my philosophy essay, and here it is! Feel free to worship me critique my work and give feedback regarding whether or not the arguments I pose hold water. Normally we'd do this in class, but since this was the final I never got the chance to bounce my ideas off of others. Ergo, I'm turning to you guys.

It was a lot of fun to write and I hope that I can be your new cult leader philosophical authority for all things pony.

@Windigo

You asked for it man.

I think your main thesis that mlp contains some measure of philosophy is just patently false. You seem to have confusion concerning what exactly philosophy is. Philosophy examines things like egoism and the concepts of virtue, but it is not equivilent to these things. Supposing that mlp is philosophical just because it contains things like ethics and egoism which philosophy traditionally studies is like supposing that something is scientific just because it contains water and light, things which science traditionally studies.

What philosophy is is a discipline, a methodology, by which we endeavor to study reality. It is the use of rigorous logic and reasoning to examine the strengths, weaknesses, necessary presuppositions, logical implications etc. of holding a given proposition or set of propositions. Mlp might touch on some of the objects that philosophy likes to traditionally examine and it might even vaguely parrot the findings of certain philosophers, but it does not contain the rigorous argumentation which defines philosophy, ergo it is not truly philosophical.

Really, your paper shows more how there are certain psychological/sociological elements in mlp and how these appeal to its adult audience. Examining that idea isn't completely without merrit, but it isn't philosophical.

Last edited May 08, 2013 at 02:44AM EDT

@Fifths

I understand what you are getting at, but that's more of an issue of definition rather than ideas. When I say a work contains "philosophies" I mean that in a way that is synonymous with "ideologies". I.E. You have philosophies, I have philosophies, Weird Al has philosophies-- but that does not make us philosophers. The entire class was one built around taking literature, music, and television and discussing the philosophical values the media portrays. (I.E. the use of stoicism in the Star Trek franchise.)

My essay is meant to portray the philosophical underpinnings of a seemingly mundane cartoon a la "Tao of Pooh"

I'm just kidding. I wish I had the guts to do a pony essay. Closest I've come is one on how 4chan's redefining what the word "faggot" means (and also how the word "nigger" is being redefined, although I don't think I did a good job on that one, considering it nearly caused the two black students to ragequit my English class for that day).

I do have a WC page. I didn't post it because I assumed that no one would give a flying feather one way or the other. However, if you really want the sources I'd be more than happy to supply them. Spreading the knowledge around and whatnot. :)
Though, I prefer the following reasoning:

@Windigo

Yeah, I kind of figured. I guess I'm just annoyed when people go calling every wishy-washy belief system out there 'philosophy.' Just a personal irk as it results in me, an academic philosopher, getting equated with every pot smoking dumbass who goes spouting unreasoned gibberish.

Anyway, I feel like you missed the ideology that mlp is most strongly influenced by: Aristotellian virtue ethics. Virtue ethics argues, in opposition to duty based ethics, that the purpose of morality is the perfection of personal character, the health of the society, and just general flourishing amongst peoples. The point of the morals in mlp is to get everyone to get along harmoniously with each other because in this state, the society is strongest and everyone is happiest. The prime evil, says the show, is social discord. The idea that the moral in Putting your hoof down is a mean between two vices is also very Aristotellian.

What is this?

On May 1st, 2013, The Round Stable[77] shared a synopsis of the film, noting that it will trace the challenges that the Mane 6 would encounter in a high school setting. They also noted the film would be shown in a number of select theaters in the US beginning on June 16th, followed by its official release at the San Diego Comic Con in July.

I… I can't…

Is this the end? For real, this time?

Last edited May 08, 2013 at 06:04PM EDT

@Bruno the Rustler
That's actually incorrect. The actual synopsis says:

When a crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle pursues the thief into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl who must survive her biggest challenge yet… high school. With help from her new friends who remind her of Ponyville’s Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy, she embarks upon a quest to find the crown and change the destiny of these two parallel worlds.

The Mane Six won't be going to Earth. Only Twilight will.

Quitting? You can't quit. The pony ride is never ending. You're trapped here forever. We'll slowly evolve into the Sonic fandom, complaining about each new installment as our hopes and dreams are crushed, while we desperately cling onto the only remnant of our shattered canon we have left--the comic. Then, we'll become the Transformers fandom and watch as Hasbro continuously reboots ponies and our fandom is fragmented into fans of the various new generations, only to collectively recoil in horror when Hasbro releases the live action MLP movie and uses the revenue from it to reboot Transformers into something that will have a weird adult fanbase of thrity year old women who launch sites like "Unicron Daily", and fight over the name of the Transformers General thread title.

I have everything planned out.

@Equestria girls

Look guys, it's coming and there's nothing we can do about it. Just lube up your assholes and get ready to take it.

Check out this artwork by Faust.

@Equestria Girls synopsis

I knew there was something fishy about Andrea Libman not being in it. I KNEW.

BRONYCON UPDATE: I will definately be there, hosting "Equestrian Karaoke with Jimmy Lethal"! If you see me, let me know it's you so we can party.

@Serious Business
It won't be live, It will be pre-recorded, so we won't have any callers. You are, however, free to send a recording of whatever you want to say and (if it's appropriate) I can use it as a sort of "what do the fans have to say?" sort of thing. Maybe a few voice clips of why you guys like the show wouldn't go amiss. Plus getting an interview with someone here would be real cool.
I don't know at this stage exactly how, when or where it's going to be aired, but it won't be done for a while so don't be looking out for it just yet. It'll probably just be a local thing so chances are you won't be hearing it.
And yes, we WILL be mugging people for th- oh, wait, you mean coffee mugs. Uhh, no, but I do have this PICTURE of a pony drinking from a mug. That's close enough, right?

Oh, by the way guys, I'm working on the lyrics another song parody about the users here (just the lyrics, not any music or anything). It's been a bit of a mission so far but I like how it's turning out and I'll try to mention as many users here as possible, though keeping it rhyming is going to stop me from getting everyone so sorry in advance.
"Oh, Stunthead, please tell us what it's about! I can't stand the wait!"
Oh, wait, you don't actually care? Oh… Okay, well I'll shut up now.

Last edited May 08, 2013 at 07:13PM EDT

@Stunthead

I better be in it too

So…

There will be an Equestria Girls movie, it's going to be the hottest topic in the fandom, it's probably going to be terrible and then it will probably blow over and everyone forgets about it,

So here's my question for all of you:

Will you still watch it?

(My answer: …mmm…nah)

Last edited May 08, 2013 at 10:37PM EDT

@Stunthead

I'm down for whatever. I'm actually considering applying for a summer gig at one of my own local radio shows, funny enough.

I am not particularly mad.

Hahaha I forgot she did the design for Sawyer in Cats Don't Dance. I fucking love you, Faust.

@Equestria Girls:

You can not even comprehend how unrustled I am right now. Am I gonna pay money to see it in theaters? Hell no, I'll just wait for it to show up on Netflix or something.

In non-pony news, I just spent $10 (including shipping) on a pair of stockings for a cosplay, and i fucking cut a big ass hole in one of the legs when I was opening the package ;A; you can not even comprehend how salty I am right now.

Well, at least I can stitch it back together…

About the Equestria Girls thing, how big of a part is this gonna play in the canon? Is it gonna be referenced on the show when the next season gets started up? Is there gonna be some kind of relationship between earth and Equestria now?

Remember, even if it is the most horrendous, cringe-worthy, intelligence-insulting sellout fathomable, it'll be little more than glorified fanfiction as long as it doesn't affect the main show. Also, some solace can be taken in the fact that just about every major fandom in history has gone through something like this and has still come out on the other side.

I heard somewhere that Equestria Girls is a spinoff only and isn't really canon to the show. Or at least thats the reason why I am not worried about it.

Really, I think the only reason why it concerns people at all is because we are wondering if it affects the original canon or not. If it doesn't, no problem.

Well, I don't think that's entirely true, Blue Screen. I think a lot of people are concerned about EQG despite the fact that, as far as we know, it will have nothing to do with the show's canon because they fear that Hasbro will start getting a little crazier about what they are willing to force into the actual show and the license, and EQG is just the first step.

That's just my speculation/hypothesis, though. As I have said, EQG does not concern me very much.

Blue Screen (of Death) said:

So here’s my question for all of you:

Will you still watch it?

I've sat through sixteen seasons of Ash Ketchum being an idiot. Five seasons of Misty being a bitch. The indescribable agony of a dubswitch. The horror that was Jhoto never ending. Everyone and everything promptly being forgotten the moment they go to a new region to pimp out the next Gen. Repetitive episodes that have enabled me to not only predict almost every Pokemon battle, but also dialogue.

My jimmies have never been more ready.

Bring. It. On.

The call of badass Screwball themed brony music has summoned me from my pit of productivity! (that and it's literally gunna take 3 hours to finish rendering this shot) Greetings my Brony Brethren!

By the way, this doesn't look dirty does it?

At least… not overtly?

Looks cool to me, Giga!

Over here, I've been drawing characters in a Hirohoki Araki-esque (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) style because I'm bored and free time is a virtue. The latest character I'm doing is Applejack, but this also the first time I'm drawing a Jojo-esque woman, so I'd like some feedback on my progress. Here is the lineart:

If you're wondering why her hat looks like that, look up Gyro Zeppeli.
