Welcome to the site, Cannibal Squirrel! You'll find it quite enjoyable here if you hang around long enough. This site is one of the self-proclaimed friendlier sites of the internet (because it's true). If you know your memes, then this is the site for you. :3

To answer your question, we've had a lot of random threads lately and most serious threads are getting choked up. So, for now, I'll just say it's best if you keep making random threads to a minimum.

I think it has to do with the fact that we're still on one general discussion board with no subforums for separating all the random discussion from the meme research that used to go on. Most of that has gotten drowned out by these general threads.

Sorry if that sounded like complaining. I'm just excited for the forum update that's going to solve exactly that problem. 4 Forums.

  • Meme Research Workshop This is where people collaborate on meme research, the main topic of the site. This is for users that are serious about writing a meme entry that recounts a meme's history, development, spread, mutation, origin, and whatever other factors are relevant.
  • Just For Fun/Games/Tikibar (I don't know what the name is yet) – This is where all of the "Add four words" and "Shop this" and "draw this" and other creative time-wasters go. We love them, but keeping the games in the games thread is a best for everybody.
  • General Discussion/Off-Topic – People posting about movies, music, viral videos that aren't memes, and probably a piece of copypasta or two.
  • Site ideas/issues/feedback (I forget what that's called right now too. It's getting late.) – Report bugs, other site-related issues, post your ideas for features and improvements to the site, etc. A lot of the upcoming features we have planned are based on feedback from our current users, and we still have a lot of plans in the works, but if you've got an idea for improving the something, we'd like to hear it.

Meme research threads take longer because people collaborate on looking things up. They're the kind of threads that shouldn't be in the same forum as the "add 4 words" threads.

We're also adding sage and lock features soon. The new version of the forums is undergoing some testing to make sure everything works first, but Jamiedubs and Gleuch have something put together that is going to be huge for the community once it's ready.
