I haven't been following the TPP stuff (a fella's only got so much outrage to spend in one day) so what do you mean? It's implementation got delayed or it's now harder to stop it?

William Usher writes an article on IGF's Chairman Brandon Boyer's ouster in IGF Chairman Brandon Boyer Steps Down Amidst Corruption Allegations. I wonder what we'll see from his replacement Kelly Wallick. I'm going to go ahead and say, nothing good.

And because Anti Gamers still try and pull off this old song and dance, Re-Used Halo 3 Study Completely Skews Results to Frame Sexist Agenda. I'm still waiting for the day they bring back the classic "D&D causes Devil worship". Jokes on them, I play Pathfinder.

You can find the study here

The talks couldn't come to agreement, Australia left the treaty membership, New Zealand outed themselves as the ones responsible for the existence of the TPP like the moustache-twirlers of yore, but the juiciest part is Wikileaks coming in at the eleventh hour with an article and tweets showing how the US has been spying on Japan (which the Japanese reasonably find a SHAMEFUR DISPRAY) and France is angry at Capital Hill for being filled with ineffective narcissists. You missed quite a night.

Comparing us to Cecil's hate-mob: Once again, the grand irony of projection rears its ugly head.

Of course it'd be New Zealand.

I wonder if countries only get indignant about other countries spying on them for appearances. It's hardly a surprise at this point.

the Cecil's hate-mob is definitely the SJW type of internet outrage. Talk about some massive projection

Massive Happenings People:

Hat Man has been busted false flagging the /ggrevolt/ board on 8chan.

Hot Wheels has checked the IP and confirmed.

Hat Man has claimed he's been suffering from dissociative episodes and is now making an appointment for his mental health.

/gamergatehq/ thread.

So Hat Man is now either our counterpart of Brianna Wu (faking "harassment" for personal gain), or Tyler Durden (doing things he can't remember in a psychotic break).

Needless to say, that's not good.

Especially considering Hat Man is tight with Koretsky, Airplay is a blatantly obvious trap, and Hat Man wants to be a journalist.

Hello everybody, I have been a long time lurker here on KYM for as long as I can remember, and only recently made a profile, though I don't have anything I can really contribute. Anyways, I'll get to the point, though I'm not sure how well it'll be received.

Before GamerGate happened, or was even slowly being formed. Never in my life or all the time I had spent on the internet, I have never heard the big name aGGros and SJW's like Brianna Wu, Anita Sarkeesian, Jonathan McIntosh, or Ian Miles Cheong (though if I remember correctly he did one huge U-turn). Heck, I've never even heard of the big name Pro-GG's and Neutrals like Milo Yiannopoulos or Pakman until GamerGate happened. And even when it did happen, I still didn't know much about them.

Simply put, I was just wondering if anyone has had the same experience in not knowing who these people are until GamerGate happened, or if they knew some or a couple of these big named people before GamerGate happened.

(This probably isn't the best place to post this, but I figure it couldn't hurt getting some insight.)

Back when this all started, the only Anti-Gamer name I knew was old Wacko Jacko himself, Jack Thompson, plus a few no name Republicans I couldn't care enough to remember

That was one of the reasons why some people were caught flat footed when Anita Sarkeesian and Jonathan McIntosh started their shtick. Most attacks came from the political right. It was the right who said games were murder simulators, it was the right who went after GTA San Andreas and Hot Coffee, it was the right who attacked games because they would let the player engage in gay relationships.

But slowly but surely the left jumped on that band wagon, Hilary Clinton went after games when Hot Coffee happened and now here we are with every two bit clickbait writer taking shots.

Well, I guess the political right attacking games is nothing new, but I never knew about the left attacking games as well (I don't pay attention to politics enough to care, it's all the same after a while). Games have been attacked since DOOM became a center of controversy, either by it's graphic violence, satanic imagery, or the school shooting that happened because of it.

Side note though, I have NEVER heard of Wacko Jacko (who I just learned is Michael Jackson), or Jack Thompson until you mentioned both of them.

The few people I knew before GG were Sarkeesian, Jack Thompson, Chris Kluwe, and David Pakman. The first two were already pretty famous, I knew Kluwe since I follow sports a lot and knew him from his political leanings and him being into gaming, and David Pakman after having seen his show once before. Every other big-name person was completely new.

I personally had only heard of Anita Sarkeesian before this, and even then only very few times. The thing is, and please note that I may be wrong about this because I do not social media at all, outside of GG, most of these people seem fall majorly when it comes to importance, especially people like Brianna Wu and McIntosh.

Nothing wrong in not doing social media scout, I don't do it either. I just got a twitter and tumblr, and I follow very few people.

Regardless, I would like to thank those that replied to what I posted in the forum. Though it would've been nice to have more input to the discussion of knowing big names before GamerGate, I can say that some big names were much more relevant then others.

I'll help promote the thread on occasion.

Have we posted this thread on the front page? Well it is there, but its kinda in fine print. Maybe we should put in bold and have fireworks shooting out of it. Especially given how most comments that would count as shitposting if posted on the main article would count as legit here.

The KYM Forum Thread link brings you to this thread. We don't exactly frontpage threads often.

I knew absolutely none of these people before gamergate happened. You are not alone in this regard.

I think its because I've set my screen resolution really high because "KYM Forum Thread" looks really really small on my screen. Oh well I'm just afraid that new people who want to participate won't be aware of this thread.

To be honest, I would have posted that in a disclaimer above the entry, people are most likely not going to see that

Wambamsamman wrote:

Woah, that was fast. Though admittedly, that's probably because of that semi-massive argument that was going on in that Kricketune guy's comment chain.

Since I'm looking to gain more insight, I was wondering about those that we just refer to as SJW's, Feminazi's, and whatever else you call them.

A good handful of posts in the GamerGate image gallery literally has an SJW sending death threats, and a more popular post in the gallery is one where someone was sent a syringe and a knife and was told to kill themselves. Which paints none of them in a good light.

Since GamerGate has been going on for a year now, I was wondering, since we have many examples of what was said earlier happening, I was wondering why Anti-GG hasn't changed tactics from death threats, name calling, and just about every terrible thing that doesn't paint them in a good light to better tactics?

(This is assuming they the bulk of Anti-GG hasn't went for better tactics yet, I don't keep up with that side of Twitter)

Arrogance, complete lack of self-awareness, lack of empathy, you name it.

I expected that I guess, but is there any particular reason for doing so?

My guess is that lying has gotten them what they wanted before and unfortunately it still getting them what they want now. I mean look at Tim Hunt for example. No one in his company or his field or even the actual members attending his "controversial" lecture wanted him to leave. The end result was he still fired because… well no reason at all.

"However, as a result of the furore, Hunt was told by UCL that he would have to resign his honorary post at the college. “At no point did they ask me for an explanation for what I said or to put it in context,” he told the Observer. “They just said I had to go. There has been an enormous rush to judgment in dealing with me.”

"However, several senior female scientists last week came forward to defend Hunt, including the physicist Dame Athene Donald, the biologist Professor Ottoline Leyser, and the physiologist Dame Nancy Rothwell. All three, although critical of Hunt’s specific remarks about women"

For some reason, people just keep letting these people get what they want. If lying gets them what they want, even if only for a brief moment, then that's what they'll keep doing.

From how you put it, it's a literal ride that will never end. Unless there's something I'm missing here.

TOSO wrote:

Well you are technically right. This will never end because there will always be ignorance. Saying you want stop outrage culture is equivalent (in terms of difficulty) to saying that you want to stop all traffic accidents. Short of doing something really counterproductive, there's no way you'd be able to 100% stop the problem you are dealing with.

But while the ride never ends, it does get better. I don't think I need to list all the countless causes that will never 100% succeed but are still making people's lives better (Gay rights, Black rights, Human rights in general). The sad thing is that developers already have crappy job security so getting fired because "a group of people yelled really loudly" is just the icing on the cake in a job where you can get fired because you did your job or because you made a crappy product because the exec wouldn't stop ruining it.

But people are getting more and more aware of it. Game Developers are starting to realize just what exactly they're dealing with and ironically, trust in the mainstream media is dropping just as fast as it was already (trust in the media is roughly 20%, I'm not joking, if you want me to I can cite the study, I'm really tried right now so I'll edit this post tomorrow). So really if gamergate was about getting people to not listen to the media… they were already beaten to it.

But I digress, its not about whether the ride ends, but who we help along the way.

Um, you guys are for ethics right? So, I'm gonna ask you this, isn't what you're doing, censoring?
Is taking the opinions of others and trying to hide that just because its its not to you're liking or not factual censoring. These people have the right to say all this stuff in their domian, and you're nearly forcing them to stop posting their opinions because you don't like them and they are "convincing" people who would otherwise or already believe this stuff regardless of what you say. Its not hurting most games you play and even the ones they do it doesn't ruin much of the game. Aren't you against this? Aren't you against taking away what people can or cannot say?

Anyone can read those opinions if they want
we aren't stopping them

Can't seem to edit the post but there's been a series of studies and most if not all of them say the same thing; no one trusts the media.

So from how you put it (And don't take it the wrong way), while the ride never ends, it does get better. If the ride continues to get better, wouldn't Mr. Bones end the ride at some point in time?

TOSO wrote:

Well the ride could continue until most the occupants are satisfied. At which point the ride will probably keep on going mostly empty or entirely empty until people decide they want to get back on for whatever reason. It's not like you could ever make the world free of corruption and outrage culture you know.

The ride goes on forever, but the occupants can get off if they like. You don't have to be on the ride 24/7. This of course assuming Mr.Bones is the driver of said ride and this is entirely a metaphorical discussion.

They've changed a bit (mailing syringes, etc. and Swatting has stopped), presumably because they realize that the cops take that stuff very seriously.

But overall they are incapable of changing because they are cultists for whom self-reflection & admitting they fucked-up is impossible, thus they can't learn from their past mistakes and are doomed to repeat them:

When they lose they just double-down and attack more.

Now combined with their power that sort of mindless attack-attack-attack mentality can easily overwhelm their enemies at first, however since they are incapable of changing tactics on more then a superficial level it requires far more resources then a less willfully blind group and it means that they only improve at a glacial pace.

Think of them as some invading alien empire locked in near-stasis while we & everyone else against them are the new species on the galaxy. They were far more advanced but we grow almost as much in 20 years as they do in 1000. So their advantages are only temporary.

We're seeing that now, SJWs are at the turning point. The events of the past year (Shirtstorm, UVA-Rolling Stone, Rachel Dolezal, Sad Puppies, Caitlyn Jenner, & of course GamerGate) mean that the normies are waking up, and they don't like what they see.

The future for SOCJUS is very bleak as the entire entertainment industry turns on them and the world at large tells them to fuck-off.

Yeah about that entertainment industry thing, are there any other sources? It might go over a lot smoother if support for the industry's stance was…bipartisan

Chris Rock, Bill Maher, and Eli Roth are definitely not right-wing.

Edit: And besides, the people calling the Iraq War a colossal stupidity weren't very bipartisan. Still didn't make the result any nicer for Dubya & friends.

Now that I think about it (and this is probably not the best place to ask that question), how exactly did they manage to ship knives and syringes to the houses of those they were sending death threats to without any red flags popping up? Surely someone at the shipping companies were like 'oh that's a syringe with some unknown substance, surely we can't ship that!'.

Regardless of that, I am glad for all the insight that various members of this forum has given. And I think all of you individually with upvotes to your posts.

Well those people are just gonna get suspended so there's no real worry unless everyone is having trouble understanding the simple concept that the comments section is for updates and this forum is for talking.

Generally speaking mail companies don't check packages, it's why letter bombs exist.

And if they miss bombs a syringe isn't going to be very noticeable.
