Strange…I missed something from the regular comments section of GamerGate, even before the shitstorm and the thread. I really don't know what happened to Generaal, can someone kind enough to remind me what happened?

He's retired to work with Mark Kern on League4Gamers and burning DiGRA to the ground.

Also trying to assassinate CaptainWeeab00 so he can be the prettiest Dutch semi-Anarchist in GamerGate.

Does he have a "report-in" schedule? I'd like to hear what progress he's made.

So what happened? It dragged out for too long? So has GamerGate done its job now by exposing everything, showing how deep the rabbit hole went and now all that's needed is to not forget things that have been experienced over a year to keep the same corruption from happening?

He'll be back.

People don't change what they believe in overnight, and GamerGate is really more a set of ideals then a hashtag.

Besides it's not like it's the first someone has decided to leave before coming back. It's how these things go.

Moving on, remember that "GamerGate terrorist"?

Funny story about that BS.

It seems that rather than explaining to others what GamerGate is, it is better to not mention GamerGate by name at first and talk about situation about journalism, cronyism, censorship, dishonesty and sensationalism first.

This thread was literally made for the GG community, and there hasn't been a single music-containing post yet?

So recently, I googled "what is gamergate" out of curiosity, and, wow, search it for yourself! Considering Google's history with GG (which is, as much as I know, this and this), it's surprising. If you look it up and don't immediately see something positive below the search bar, it was probably changed – here's an archive of the search's results presently.
Funny thing is, the description is from an aGG article (making this the second time I've seen aGG accidentally promote GG via Google's system). Good job spreading the word there, Eric!
… For some reason, I'm worried that Eric is going to eventually take the article down after somehow discovering this post…

I asked him if he was ever going to come back. This is what he replied with:

Looks like he's definitely not coming back.

Meh, I'll believe it when he doesn't say boo for months on the subject.

I'd say go ask him yourself. You may not believe him, but from what I could tell, he seems serious about leaving.

I just gave a search, and there were about only two Pro-GG or Neutral results – and that would be KYM's article, and a portuguese version of the GamerGate article on Wikipedia.

Maybe I didn't search hard enough, but it seemed like little has changed.

Man this train keeps rolling on. Mostly from stubborn srhbutts and Wu doing more to make it relvant for themselves if not to hide the overwhelming skeletons that keep popping back up. Kinda surprised people didn't jump to much on how Metal Gear 5 was reviewed by "professionals", but so far it's been an OK game, but the open world of Afghanistan sucks when doing missions while the gameplay starts dulling 3/4s of the way through.

Glad to see people still digging and hypocrisy questioned. As long as we keep a close eye on those trying to warp scores and make shady deals, the better the products might be from companies not able to influence the consumer through simple scores, but actual farther developed gameplay and storytelling.

http://tosche-station.net/the-persecution-complex-of-bring-back-legends-rears-its-ugly-head-at-dragon-con/ Hello, we've got another GGdrop here. The language looks familiar, doesn't it?

I'm kinda torn here. On one hand, this behavior doesn't sound good at all. On the other, the way this guy's writing this reads like smears of the past.

Also, dem comments. Dem closed comments.

I'm talking about the box of text that appears under the search bar, which contains the "angry gamer" picture (it's highlighted in the archive).
Eeh, now that I think about it, the description isn't that good. It just says that GG is upset with journalists saying games are sexist (it's accurate, but not complete), and if someone new to the controversy reads the article it came from, they'd be reading it from a heavily biased aGG perspective. The reason why I thought it was good at first was because the description isn't wrong, and at least it's a lot better than "Gamergate is a misogynistic hate group".

Vlad Chituc writes Gamergate: A Culture War for People Who Don't Play Videogames

"I don’t doubt that there’s a culture war happening, but it’s not a conflict between libertarians and authoritarians or freedom and coddling, as Haidt and Breitbart supporters seem to think. Instead, I see a fundamental clash of sacred values: between a camp who places highest value on free expression on one hand, and a group who values equal protection of the marginalized on the other. This is what happens when the First Amendment crashes against the Fourteenth; conflicts between such sacred values are notoriously difficult to resolve."

"openly infiltrating"

they seem to even fail at understanding the concept of infiltration

Considering what Jack the Ripper did back then, could this rustle any SJW jimmies?

I'd expect we'd get the usual "Using depictions of violence against women for shock value" or maybe something like "Glorifying the work of a serial killer"

Normally, I'd say not alot of people would really care, but assassin's creed seems to have earned alot of ire from the SJW crowd. So, I'd put money down on seeing an article or two.

There is no conflict between protecting free expression, and protecting "the marginalized".

Because when free speech is restricted the censorship is not going to be targeting those in power.

It's why the Civil Rights Movement only caught fire after McCarthyism had started its long death spiral.

I got a perverse thought this morning, when i saw the article with the daughter. What if Nyberg's defenders aren't on her side simply because of aGG (not the only reason, anyway), but because they are pedophiles themselves? Wasn't there at least other one who shared photos of a familiar? (i didn't track a record)

If correct (i'll give myself the benefit of doubt), instead of exposing a pedophile, people unwittingly uncovered a whole ring. Gamergate was searching for a dime and instead it found a 100$ bill by accident.

Reminds me of all those plots (many of them in vidya) where a small investigation uncovers a larger threat by accident.

"Cracked.com, for which Rouner is a contributor, once ran a piece titled “5 Ways We Misunderstand Pedophilia."

…..Nope. Not even gonna try and tackle that right now. I’ll read that mental scarring when I have a bottle of Captain Morgan in me, but not right now.

This is potentially controversial statement here, but one of the problems with organizations and groups that refuse to clean house is that it actively attracts people that society would otherwise deem morally wrong.

What I mean by this can be illustrated by someone I've met; I know it's cherry picking as hell but it illustrates a point: a crazy nutter I've talked to once in a while that said person actively argued that the age of consent should be abolished they just so happened to join aGG at the same time as this happening, I'll admit I don't have any proof of them being that sort of person but it's hella suspect. I'll admit I have no evidence of them potentially doing anything wrong, but it's very suspect for them to just happen to join aGG right after srhbutts getting found out..

I wouldn't say that it causes them to join or that aGG's members are, but considering the sort of people that just happened to find themselves on the aGG bus recently is very suspect.

It's purely theory at this point, but what might happen to aGG is that as time goes on they'll be forced to focus more and more on sweeping things under the rug than actually trying to fight gamergate. If gamergate continues on for another year or more I wouldn't be surprised if anti-gamergate just implodes in on itself cause rather than shoving these sorts of people out of their group they cover things up for them.

To be honest I think you're being a bit hard on your politically opposed opponents. After all, GG has no more control of who joins its ranks as AGG does.

Gamergate went through the same thing when unsavory people began to join the movement and hashtag. Nobody could tell them they weren't part of GG, because they did the exact things GG supporters do, use the hashtag and post their support, and nobody could stop them. It was treated as unfair back then to go after GG for these individuals because like I said, a loose collection of ideologues working towards a common goal with no set leader or command structure can't be expected to regulate who is or isn't "In".

AGG is like GG in how it is organized and operates. Try to remember that, as you bust out the knives and prepare to carve into them, okay?

@Black
The difference is that pro-gamergate the second a sick fuck pops up we run them out of town. Anti-gamergate on the other hand actively defends sick fucks and will do anything and everything in their power and money to defend them.

Does this mean I have to read that Pedophilia article sober? Because I really don't want to.
