It's not the first time AI deepfakes have been used by Trump and his followers in this election cycle, in a more normal time period this wouldn't have been glossed over. I guess when violence is in the picture, more lying (even with technological aid) seems small in comparison.

Tomorrow's voting day for the Americans and the results will likely be known by the end of the week. Do most of you wait at home or go to bars/friend's/somewhere when awaiting election results? I'm for the latter for the ones I care about.

Well, I did my part and voted. I'm gonna prioritize my mental health and stay off social media and turn off the news until the results arrive. I don't have the mental fortitude to be constantly up-to-date on the latest campaign news and controversies.

That sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately for me, I work for Walmart--so the MAGA stuff is unavoidable. Pretty interesting illustration. From the author's viewpoint, tribalism is the source of tons of societal problems as it is related for desire to win and confirm their beliefs over a desire to find out more truth to make a world to be a better place.

However, by having tribalism equally at different levels somewhat keeps it in check. In the 1960s, the US had a lot of inter-party conflicts for both republicans and democrats. Meanwhile at international levels, the US was in conflict with the Second World countries. Both that helped to alleviate the conflict between the republicans and democrats.

However, as the time went on, the parties became less fractionalized, and of course the USSR collapsed, causing the tribalism between the two major parties to become more pronounced, as there was less distraction.

As it turns out, I was right about Trump winning. Looks like Project 2025 is coming to pass with all 3 branches in Republican hands. I was hoping to be wrong, but I hate that I now need to worry about going to jail for my lewd drawings and having a harder time commuting with the incoming car-centric policies.

Well then, I guess that's that, bar some miracle. I suppose now we'll get to see first-hand how much of the fearmongering was true for the US. Before it all ends up being normalized or downplayed, my fears were of slashing of regulations (in both business, environmental), greater power and rise of oligarchs, policies targeting the LGBTQ & women's rights and breaking down (further) of separation of church and state. Basically, a lot of this was mentioned in Project 2025.

As well as in foreign affairs the sabotage of aid to Ukraine and meddling in Europe's politics and a possible trade war (or worse, we'll see if there actually will be geopolitical realignment). I'm not expecting aid at this point, I just hope there's no sabotage. The Trump administration seemed to thrive on having a new enemy of the week, so I guess we'll have to see who they're going for next (their media is normally a good indicator for that).
