Democrats don't seem to be reacting well to not getting universal support, either. Endorsements are apparently an obligation these days, rather than a compliment.

The good news is, we may be seeing a piecemeal return to less-partisan journalism. The bad news is, our politicians and their sycophants are very entitled.

Bezos faces criticism after executives met with Trump on day of Post’s non-endorsement

The multi-billionaire owner of the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos, continued facing criticism throughout the weekend because executives from his aerospace company met with Donald Trump on the same day the newspaper prevented its editorial team from publishing an endorsement of his opponent in the US presidential election.

Senior news and opinion leaders at the Washington Post flew to Miami in late September 2024 to meet with Bezos, who had reservations about the paper issuing an endorsement in the 5 November election, the New York Times reported.

And the Post on Friday announced it would not endorse a candidate in the 5 November election after its editorial board had already drafted its endorsement of Kamala Harris.

Friday’s announcement did not mention Amazon or Blue Origin. But within hours, high-ranking officials of the latter company briefly met with Trump after a campaign speech in Austin, Texas, as the Republican nominee seeks a second presidency.

Those reported overtures were eviscerated by Washington Post editor-at-large and longtime columnist Robert Kagan, who resigned on Friday. On Saturday, he argued that the meeting Blue Origin executives had with Trump would not have taken place if the Post had endorsed the Democratic vice-president as it planned.

Sure, but there's a difference between angry people aren't picking your side and the stuff Trump is saying.

My dad was seriously considering unsubscribing from the post because of the refusal to endorse anyone for president

As least we have confirmation that Lex Luthor was responsible

Honestly, Trump's a pathetic joke, but some of the shit he's been saying lately is…worrying.

On and on and on about how journalists who won't cover him positively are 'the enemy of the people.' Talking about using the military inside the country to restore order, this, that- I mean, it's all the usual strongman feel-good shit, sure, but.

It's still worrying, you know? Worrying in a different sort of way than his usual. The usual is just spewing racist bilge and propping up big corporations more and fucking with the judicial system- and like, all of that is terrible, but it's damage that can be undone.

What worries me is, you know, what if it's /not/ the usual strongman windbag shit? What if he's legitimate about it, and tries to swing at US citizens that piss him off?

It's not like his base would stop voting for him if he did. It's not like he can be convicted, either, considering the supreme court's given the president immunity. Shit like this is starting to stress me out a little.

He is an old man. That is the problem.

@KZN02

A multi-billionaire buying a newspaper and twisting it, because nothing says "less partisan" than that.

As an aside for Elon Musk, there was also his own blatant quid pro quo with the Trump team, the fake PAC, his own buying of media and fight with democracies while buckling for authoritarian regimes and his contacts with Putin. Each on it's own was a scandal at the time, taken together and it's pretty damning.

If nothing else, look at how Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and other "techno-authoritarians" treat their employees, those in their power. They mistreat with their dystopique practices and complain about "regulations" because they get caught polluting, undercutting competitors, strike-breaking or surveilling people.

dude this is clearly manic behavior, you have access to a head doc?

Anyway, starting to get a bad feeling there's going to be militia incidents during the election. The doomer brain in me thinks the fire attacks broke the seal on "action to 'save' the election"

A republican CNN panelist just said live on tv that he "hopped his beeper doesn't go off" live on tv to a pro Palestinian panelist, in reference to israel rigging the pagers that blew up. He said, live on tv, I hope you die, and then tried to pretend he said it because he "thought he heard him say he was pro hamas", and then that he didn't say what he literally just said, then went on twitter latter to claim it was just a joke.

It was so bad they had to kick the guy off the panel over the commercial break. The republicans have just decided to go completely mask off, it seems the October surprise is just going to be them being incredibly loudly racist on public tv for the run up to the election now, cause they have just completely decided to stop pretending.

Their mask is falling off
guessing they're prepping the backup plan of having the sc throw out the results they don't like

This guy will realize Trump will give all the money to Israel and then give up.

Why is Trump's director of white house personnel saying they wanted only men to vote. What is the joke here. Why are they saying this.

Are they just like, going insane?

Maybe they see some data and realize it's not looking good for their chances at winning the election?

They might think it'll get more votes among the "Christian Nationalists", who are basically the Christian Taliban. What's more frightening, is if that's actually true.

There's a long list of recent incidents from the Republican CNN Panelist, the Trump campaign on Puerto Rico and before that the Haitians in Springfield (and there's likely a much longer list up to 2016 and beyond).

It's not unrelated incidents anymore, it's just part of Trump & his followers platform.

I feel sorry for that woman that was paranoid over Haitian until she found out her cat was okay because that Vance fag used this against Haitians and now Trump might start deporting Balkanites just because some retard didn't know we, Balkanites, eat lamb meat.
If I were a Balkanite in America, I would shove lamb eat up those moron's mouths.
Sorry for being dramatic. I just don't like how these idiots would fall for something this stupid. Now I see why some Republicans would vote for Harris, despite her not having enough knowledge for geopolitics.

Yeah, it really blew up from what was a local Facebook post up to the national and even international level, what a way to have your 15 minutes of fame. I almost forgot that the Americans there also shit-talked eating lamb, guess they wouldn't be able to tell good BBQ, so no Cevapi for them.

Seriously speaking, that "freedom fries" crowd is always looking for their next target, I do think that a central strategy of Trump is to paint a target on someone/a group and let his horde descend upon them, it's happened too many times, and it's tiring. If there was anything funny about the stupidity, it should have run-out years ago

Americans need to stop nominating anyone for President that was born before 1965.

If only that were enough, but I'm pretty sure J.D Vance was born in 1984. It's not just a Gerontocracy.

Say, which accusations towards Trump are true? Hard for me to trust some of them.

Honestly? There's so many of so many different types and different severity (from the petty to the genuinely bad on an international level) that you'd have to go by a case-by-case basis of "which one", not to mention that a lot of his current and former staff are responsible for their own (Scott Pruitt of the EPA) or have been the scapegoat for what Trump asked.

Just pick one from the wikipedia list and that could be a debate in itself.

There's even some issues which aren't listed there, personally I like the saga of the Trump administration and Boeing. It's dry, but costed a lot of money and it's a story of sheer incompetence, thoughtless regulation cutting and greed. It's a story of Trump & Boeing trying to brute-force a monopoly and failing. It's pure boring mismanagement that is difficult to spin politically, and I think that's particularly damning.

How Boeing vs. Airbus Became Trump vs. Europe

How Boeing lost $1.1 billion on Trump Air Force One contract

The Boeing scandal is an indictment of Trump’s corporate America

The Supreme Court just allowed Virginia to continue purging voters from its rolls within 90 days of the election. Which is against established federal law. No reasoning was made for the justification.

They really are pulling out all the stops to rig this, huh.

Thank you.

@Toasty
Aw, man. I just remembered how Karl Marx was rude back then. If you know what I mean by rude.

On Monday, a Trump supporter was arrested for encouraging Republican voters to stay in the early voting line repeatedly and block the line in order to discourage democrat voters. This happened at Delaware County in Pennsylvania. The woman was cited for "disorderly conduct."

RNC committee chairman called it "voter suppression." The person who was arrested went to social media said that she was doing it because she believed that the Democrats were the ones discouraging in-person voting.

Also, an 18-year-old Florida man was arrested for brandishing machete near a polling station.

so where exactly is the line for Republican projection? clearly stupid bullshit like lying about crowd size isn't off the table and we keep seeing more and more. Like election interference.

Are they eating cats?
Are they murdering newborn children?

A Halloween parade display in Westmoreland County depicting Vice President Kamala Harris handcuffed and leashed to the back of a golf cart drew outrage from bystanders and the Pittsburgh branch of the NAACP, which denounced it as a symbol of racism and hatred.

Daylon Davis, president of the local NAACP chapter, said the parade entry goes beyond Halloween satire or free expression but rather was a harmful symbol of the history of racism in the country.

“In allowing this display, the organizers have sent a troubling message that demeans and dehumanizes Black and Brown individuals,” he said in a statement. “This kind of imagery reinforces a dangerous narrative, implicitly suggesting that Black individuals belong in chains. Such a display has no place in our society today or any community that values inclusivity, respect and human dignity.”

The parade was organized by the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department. Held the night before Halloween on Main Street in the community of 4,250, there were all the typical entries -- fire trucks, Boy Scouts, high school football players and dance groups.
