Mod AMA Series – Space Cowboy

Some people call me the Space Cowboy, but you can call me whatever you want. I'm into playing video games, anime (mostly JoJo), art, and pro wrestling. Go ahead and ask me anything, and I'll answer to the best of my ability or outright snark, or both.

Front row seats to one wrestling match between two people of your choosing. Who do you pick to wrestle?

Why do you like watching pro-wrestling?

Where the heck did THE GAY COMMUNITY?! come from?

Last edited May 11, 2017 at 06:43PM EDT

You say you're mostly into JoJo, but your name tells me Cowboy Bebop is your true passion.

You've watched it, yeah? How about Space Dandy?

As for video games, have you played the JoJo video games? I'm not talking about Eyes of Heaven or any of that shit tho, I mean the "Persona" (JoJo) games.

Do you follow the Zabaitsu by any chance? (Super Best Friends Play)
If so what do you like about them?
I swear I could've seen you posting around somewhere, I mean you fit a lot of their likes and interest, but I could be confusing you with someone else.

What's your favorite aspect of the KYM community in comparison to other online communities?
And of course, what sort of skills would you say you have?
Would you see yourself using them in your career, if you aren't already?

@3kole: Here's what I think.

Hmm, as far as my ambitions go, they're honestly pretty simple and shortsighted (that's how I see them anyways). I'd like to finish university within the next 2 years (finishing my 3rd year a week from now), get a decent in my field (which is animation), and later in life have my own family.

In terms of site improvement, I do believe we should rebuild our gay community here. The community's been through some nasty things in the last several months, particularly involving users spiting each other or repeatedly throwing shade. I think things like this Mod AMA series we're doing is one step in the right direction. The 2hu site wide avatars matching thread is also another good step.

@Tito Dick Guy: I discovered JoJo through KYM actually, right around September 2014. I don't know, I saw all these images, got curious, and then started watching the series on Crunchyroll. And I got hooked instantly. Flash-forward to now, and I'm currently waiting for the next JoJolion chapter to come out (and a Part 5 anime).

@Twist: I honestly don't know why I chose "Space Cowboy" as my name. To answer you and @TheMagicPyro, I love Cowboy Bebop and consider it among my favorite shows. The "See You Space Cowboy" phrase always fascinated me, and evidently "Space Cowboy" caught my attention. Also, I couldn't come up with a better name, so I just chose my current name.

Favorite JoJo is a toss-up between Part 4 Josuke and Joseph. Favorite villain is David Bowie and his Queen references. Favorite part is a toss-up between Part 4 and Part 7. Part 7 is a great epic journey from start to end, but I love the sort-of "slice of life" approach to Part 4, and it's overall theme of community and your hometown.

Favorite video game is prrrrobably GTA San Andreas. I love that game to death. Favorite series is probably Kirby, though GTA is also up there.

@Rivers: Oooh, good question. You're basically asking me what my dream match would be. I think Shawn Michaels and AJ Styles would have a fantastic match. They're two of the best performers, excellent selling, excellent ring psychology. Kenny Omega against AJ would also be an interesting match-up. Hell, put anyone with AJ , and you'll get a great match.

My history with pro wrestling is an interesting one: I originally started around maybe late 2010 – early 2011, whenever Edge retired. Anyways, back then, my little brother was the one into wrestling, and I was like a lot of people and initially dismissed it. Eventually, I'd find myself watching Monday Night RAW and, while still being somewhat dismissive, I actually dug it. But over time, I just stopped watching, and never considered re-watching until early 2016. By that point, I became all invested into wrestling, and now I stand here today as one of KYM's Top Pro Wrestling Analysts (whatever that means). But to answer your actual question, I enjoy pro wrestling because it's all around fun, it can be silly and humorous, and it can also be really emotional. The technical aspects of pro wrestling also intrigue me, from the concept of "selling" to in-ring psychology to telling a story in the ring. I dunno, I just enjoy pro wrestling because it's really fun.

THE GAY COMMUNITY?! thing came from an old interview, where Dave Meltzer was interviewing AJ Styles and taking in phone call questions. Basically people would call in to ask ridiculous questions. One guy called in to ask AJ about his thoughts on his large following in the gay community. AJ was astounded by the question, and now we have this golden treasure of a wrestling meme.

@TheMagicPyro: As I've mentioned in my Twist answer, yes, I've watched Bebop. And yes, I've also watched Space Dandy, and I love it.

I have not played the Persona games, though I do plan on buying Persona 5 later in the year.

1) Your questions guys?

2) Is your username a reference to the song "The Joker" where the lyrics are "Some people call me the space cowboy" or to Cowboy Bebop where the ending line is "See you, Space Cowboy…"?

3) What is your favourite modern non-anime cartoon (i.e. anything made past 2009)?

4) Do you prefer shepard's pie or sausage rolls?

5) Why did you want to become a moderator?

6) Is this a joj?

What do you think of the following?

Hanazuki: Full of Treasures
Persona 5
My Little Pony
Pokemon
and 3kole5?

Also what is your favorite anime besides Cowboy Bebop and JoJo and your top 3 least favorite video game villains?

Last edited May 11, 2017 at 08:20PM EDT

You should try and get your hands on Persona 4 Golden at some point, it's pretty much just a Part 4 visual novel with more emphasis on friendship and dating cute girls. And, like, some random RPG dungeon crawler mini game in there or something.

Got a favorite wrassler? Least favorite wrassler? Do you emember in 1998 when the Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell in a Cell, and plummeted 16 feet through an announcer's table?

Thoughts on the Scooby Doo/WWE crossover special?

@SweetAndDelicious: I occasionally watch the Zaibatsu from time to time, though I don't watch them regularly anymore. If I see a new LP from them that looks interesting, I'll go watch it. I dig their form of humor, and yeah, they're a lot like me as far as my interests go. Better Woolie is better than Woolie, remember that.

Tbh, I've only dabbled in a few communities, and usually it's been anonymous lurking. I suppose KYM is one of the few online communities that captivated me enough to make an account or something, I don't know.

Hmm, as far as skills go, I suppose I'm competent enough at art. Hopefully all my art skills land me somewhere in the animation industry. If we're talking personalities, I'm easy to approach, and I'm typically able to adapt to new situations. Sorry if my answer isn't up to snuff.

@NeonWabbit: Your questions guys question your questions. Question.

Honestly my name could go either way. I do like a couple of Steve Miller Band songs.

Does Korra count? I really enjoyed Korra during its airing. As of now though, I don't watch many cartoons, except a few Rick and Morty episodes and the new Samurai Jack.

Sausage rolls. I don't like pie.

Not really sure tbh. It wasn't something I actively desired. But it also wasn't something I'd reject. It was an offer I didn't refuse.

Yes, this is joj.

@Gnairly: Bowser, Senator Armstrong, and whoever's dominating me in a TF2 match

@After Shock: Never heard of Hanazuki, so I've got no opinion of it. Persona 5 is a game I'll buy somewhere down the line. MLP's alright. Pokemon's enjoyable, and I'd like to get the Gen 7 games. As for 3kole, I don't watch his videos because he's black he's good.

Aside from Bebop, another anime I'd consider a favorite is Samurai Champloo. Top 3 least favorite video game villains would be Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3, Master Kohga and the Yiga Clan in general from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and whoever's dominating me in a TF2 match.

@HEAT Maple: As I've previously mentioned answering Twist earlier, favorite parts would be 4 and 7. Check it out here fam.

@TheMagicPyro: Favorite wrassler is A. J. STYLES. AJ is all around an incredible wrestler: he's got the high-flying moves, he's got a technical, amateur wrestling background, he can tell a story in the ring, and he's an amazing seller. Pretty good on the mic too. Least favorite wrassler is maaaaaaaaaybe Juice Robinson over at New Japan. He's got a decent moveset, and it's great that he's getting over, but I don't really dig his look. But don't let my comments on Juice Robinson distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcers' table.

I'm aware of this crossover special, and I have no plans to watch it, unless Vince is hamming it up in all scenes.

@TripleA9000: IBO and Unicorn are the only ones I've seen, and that's because they're on Toonami.

Who is the GOAT and why is it NXT midcarder Tino Sabbatelli???

<

Some non meme questions:

1) Do you think meme culture has done much to change people's attitudes towards wrestling over the past year?

2) What's something the userbase at large can do to make the galleries better?

3) What's a piece of advice you would give to a Brand New Member™?

who wwe wrestler is better right now to a push?
what do you think about this oversaturation of political and controversial entries in KYM and the polarization of this??
What do you think about modern wrestling?
what do you think about the differences of the forum community of this site to the comment section?
do you think that roman reigns is very overrated or overhated
what anime or cartoon have you watched lately?
AJ styles or finn balor'
what dou you think about the jojo's fandom lately????

@Eglamore: tfw GOAT showed up on NXT TV this week

Possibly. I think the memetic affairs of Broken Matt Hardy have certainly opened non-wrestling fans to the beauty of sports entertainment pro wrestling. I do wish we'd get or cover more wrestling memes though, and possibly get more people on the site into wrestling.

Stop uploading there softcore porn into the galleries Learn how to tag images better, and also learn how to properly source.

Brand new members, just follow the rules, don't be dicks, and find your setting on the site. Seriously, don't be dicks.

@Wkc19: I discovered KYM through the old KYM videos. I was part of an old community back then, MLP was the hot topic, there was a link to KYM's video on MLP, and boom, now I'm here. As for favorite meme, well, my favorite current meme is "You're the Big X, Roman."

@NekothePony: Opinion on CZW? What are you, blind? JEEEEEEEEEEZUS!

@Artichoke: Sorry Todd Howard, I chose neither.

Doing AMAs like these, which I consider really fun.

@Mr. JL: Down at NXT, I think La Sombra Andrade "Cien" Almas could use a push. Guy's a great worker, has a good look to him, and tranquilo af.

I don't consider this political over saturation to be mutually exclusive to KYM, since it's basically spread all across media. That being said, I'm not exactly a big fan of it. As for controversial entries, well, that's always been a thing here on the site, so eh, I'm whatever to it.

Modern wrestling is fantastic. Looking at the WWE, both main and developmental rosters are filled with absolutely talented people. And outside of WWE, like in New Japan, you have some of the best damn wrestling going on.

I've never been a fan of the condescending attitudes both sections have for each other.

I think Roman is overhated: he's not a bad wrestler (actually most of his matches tend to be pretty good). He's got a good move set, he's got fundamentals down. Sure, he could work more on his selling and his promos, but I don't entirely place the problem of his promos on him. In my honest opinion, the only reason people hate Roman is because of how poorly and inconsistently WWE Creative has booked him. His character work is inconsistent, his promos are poorly scripted, and like Cena before him, he's almost always booked to win. If Roman wasn't pushed so early following the disbandment of The Shield and instead gradually worked his way up from the mid-card to the main event scene, then I think he'd be pretty over right now. Because honestly, I consider all the boos Roman gets to be Pavlovian.

Haven't actually been watching too many anime lately, at least online. I do watch Toonami though, specifically Dragon Ball Super and Z, Attack on Titan Season 2, Tokyo Ghoul, Hunter x Hunter, and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. Also on Toonami, I've been watching the new Samurai Jack.

THE PHENOMENAL A.J. STYYYYYYLES

If we're talking KYM's JoJo fandom, I guess it's been alright. If we're talking JoJo fandom in general, my thoughts remain the same. I'm not one to hate on fandoms tbh, even if bad apples start arising.

Well, people have already asked similar questions, but I still think it's interesting to hear a mod's view on this, so what do you think, from a moderator's perspective, can the average user do to alleviate the site or atmosphere of the community?

In other words, what are the best qualities, traits, and behaviors you think people should follow? Thank you!

@Jaune Arc: I used to watch Achievement Hunter a lot back in the day, and I used to watch a bit of RvB, but these days, I only ever watch RWBY. Regarding RWBY, I like it for what it is. It's not a perfect show, but then again, no show is.

Aside from classic rock, I'd say I'm into some hip-hop, which can mean 90's gangsta rap like your Dr. Dre to alternate hip-hop like Nujabes or MF DOOM. If we're talking modern hip-hop artists, I'd say that Kendrick Lamar is one I listen to. Jazz is pretty cool to listen to, though I can't exactly cite specific artists or anything (unless you count Nujabes or J Dilla, who fall under jazz hip-hop). I've been listening to some Japanese jazz fusion recently, which is pretty neat.

@TripleA9000: Favorite cartoon show ever is probably Avatar: The Last Airbender.

@Xin: If users would like to help provide a friendly, comfortable atmosphere in the gay community, for one being friendly is a nice trait to have. Being cooperative would be another: cooperative in the sense that you're willing to adapt and learn to tolerate whatever changes the site may go through, even if you don't agree with those changes. It also helps to not have a large ego, but then again this is coming from a mod, who are said to have fairly large egos (according to them anyways). I think being willing to accept that sometimes you may be wrong about something is also a good trait: no one likes to admit they're wrong about something, especially on the internet. But at the very least, be cooperative enough to listen to others instead of shutting them down instantly or telling them straight in their face how wrong you are and how right you are. Sure, it can feel good to try and prove how right you are about something, but at the end of the day, all you've done is wasted time and energy that could've been better spent on something else.

Basically, in a nutshell, don't be an insufferable dick.

Alright, seems like the thread's dying down, so I'd say it's last call for any additional questions. You guys can ask me more pro wrestling questions, I really do like answering those. And it can be anything from fantasy booking to Backlash predictions this Sunday to why no one can throw a good working punch these days.

Sorry for the double post because of a typo

Hmm, only one question? Well, that's kinda a bummer.

@NekoThePony: I think having a lariat as a finisher would be sweet. Lariats always look so cool and stiff. Give 'em a good ole' LARIATOOOOOOOO like Stan Hansen.

Alright, I guess that's it for questions (unless someone posts quickly enough). In a few hours I'll have this thread locked, and the Mod AMA series will continue with Rivers. Again, last call for questions, then it's WWE Roadblock: End of the Line.
