Picking up the torch from Space Cowboy in the moderator AMA series…

Hello there, I'm Rivers. I'm a database moderator and I like making and running surveys and other things involving lists and numbers. A big list of that can be found on my profile under "Things I Did on KYM". I'm a Christian, and socialist as heck. I'm obsessed with politics, often being a source of info for people like my parents. Ask me anything!

What sect of Christianity are you a part of?

I don't particularly adhere to any denomination as of now, but I feel drawn to Methodism, Episcopalianism/Anglicanism, and I have a bit of a fascination with Eastern Orthodoxy. I like Methodism's focus on action, I think Anglicans probably get fairly close to what I think is right (although I still have a handful of notable issues with it…), and eastern theology is just amazing.

What is it about politics that has you so interested in it?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think I'm just kinda suited for it – I'm able to take in and account for streams of information, every single day something happening, and for the most part I don't really get stressed out about it. I'm able to learn a lot and articulate it to others alright, I think, so it's a nice thing for me.

Why is statistics such a shit tier science?

Because people don't understand it.

How did you discover Shantae, what was your first game from that series and favorite side charcter?

I… honestly have absolutely no clue how I stumbled on Shantae. I do know I played Risky's Revenge first, and then Pirate's Curse, and Half-Genie Hero. I haven't finished the first Shantae. My favorite side character is probably Rottytops.

1) How did you find KYM?

As a youngster around 2012-2013, looking for memes, stumbling upon some of the KYM pages. Then I found the image galleries and the rest is history.

2) From all your side projects, which one is your favorite?

Make KYM Great Again was an absolutely gigantic thing for me. It taught me so much and it was awesome to have it frontpaged. While I started with a small image gallery analysis, this really pushed me towards loving stats.

Do you have a favourite philosophical idea/philosopher? If so, then what/who is it?

Bonus Question: If you had the ability to grant marriages, what two people from KYM would you officially get together?

When will you denounce socialism and become a neoliberal?

That sounds stupid. Why would I do that?

Do you have any hobbies off line?

I like to read a lot. I go through cycles of interests, and as of right now I'm on comparative theology and patristics (study of Christian "Church Fathers").

Do you read many Sci-Fi/fantasy/etc books?

Not particularly, I prefer non-fiction myself. My recent readings have involved theology, philosophy, and politics.

Does your love flow like a river?

Like a fire that'll light your way.

there's a good chance this is the wrong song.

Do you have a favourite philosophical idea/philosopher? If so, then what/who is it?

I really like Bastiat's conception of the state, saying it is simply a bunch of people acting out their very basic rights. It's the theory of state I've been most favorable towards.

If you had the ability to grant marriages, what two people from KYM would you officially get together?

Blubber x Lisa. I know they're both dead but they live on in my heart.

1) Best political compass?

Fuck it, no one else has gone there yet

2) Do you feel the transphobia of the site is gradually decreasing? Coz recently I feel like gradually, some of the really uh "traditionalist" parts of comments section are getting more used to the idea.

I’m gonna ask a simple, standard question, spiritualism or materialism?

Spiritualism. I believe that there is a God, and an afterlife, and that there is a bit more to the world than what we can directly see.

Do you read much about History? Local/regional/world/ancient/modern or any combination of them?

I don't, although I do like the Greek city-states. The History of the Peloponnesian War is on my reading list.

Favourite meme? and why?

History of Japan. I just think it's hilarious and a work of creative genius.

What form of Socialism appeals to you, any influential writers/theorists?

Mutualism sounds to me like the most viable option in the near future. Beyond that, in my ideal world which may or may not be possible, everyone would collectively own the means of production and create a public stock of all surplus items (what you don't need yourself out of the stuff you make) that anyone who works can access.

I guess this is probably not the best, but I haven't really read any books through on it. A bit ironically, works by libertarian Thomas E. Woods Jr. and ancap Llewellyn Rockwell primed me for it by introducing critiques of how the state has been running, the importance of freedom, and how what we have isn't our only possibility.

Do you have any favourite Bible quotes?

There are two types of Bible quotes I love. First, verses that sum up everything simply. Second, verses that are friggin lewd. The Bible isn't clean, and I love the contrast it brings with how I was taught the Bible.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? – Micah 6:8, ESV

She lusted after their male consorts, whose sexual organs were like those of donkeys, and whose ejaculation was like that of horses. She relived the wicked days of her youth, when the Egyptians touched and fondled her young and nubile breasts. – Ezekiel 23:20-21, CEB

Have you sucked dick yet?

Unfortunately not.

Have you any desire to suck RandomMan’s dick?

Fortunately not.

What’s your favorite food?

Stuffed shells with alfredo sauce. Absolutely love it. In general I really like Italian food. Spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli, that stuff.

What kinds of themes that you like to statistically break down the most i.e. favorite programs, interests etc.?

Humans. How they are, what they believe, and what they do. It's so interesting to learn about people on a deeper, mathematical level.

Whats your favourite movie?

Inception takes that spot. I should watch that again soon.

how can my feet smell if they don’t have a nose?

They can't, duh.

Why are blue-haired animu girls perfect?

Are you hitting on me?

Also, what happened to the survey?

Sorry, it's not dead, I've just gotten distracted with things. I'll work on that here soon enough hopefully.

Best political compass?

If we're talking just political compasses, I like spekr the most myself. If we're talking all political tests, I'm fairly fond of 8values.

Do you feel the transphobia of the site is gradually decreasing? Coz recently I feel like gradually, some of the really uh “traditionalist” parts of comments section are getting more used to the idea.

I feel like it's more it hasn't come up as much lately. If Don frontpages the Manning entry again (because she just got out of prison today) I'd bet we'd see more of it.

Why did you pick Rivers as your user name?

It's a mutation of a mutation of a username I came up with when I was like, 11, on a forum long ago.

Is our NationStates region kill?

It's dead, Jim.

I lost interest, sorry about that. If you wanted I could just transfer ownership to you or something so you could run it.

So, what usage does the FBI have regarding a bunch of pre-teen humerous memesite users, you data mining spy? Because whatever it is, I didn’t do it! Your surveys don’t fool me!

As always, what do you think users can do to help out here? Help freshen the community? What do you think are the best traits of a user, both with personal friends and on the general scale?

>nationstates

Ha, I forgot you folks set up a region. Shame it died, but that site is tedious work for little/unimaginative yield. A region requires active commitment and interesting community events, but maintenance isn't worth it when people come and go so easily.

I love that you love Inception too, I watched it more than I can count.
I saw it 3 times in theaters, once in IMAX, and the rest on Blu-ray.
What did you like about it?

Asking everyone this, it seems you have a certain set of skills, how would you list them in a resume if you can?
How would you go about using them in your career?

What are your favourite aspects about KYM?

It's filling a niche better than anyone else can fill the niche – recording internet phenomena. It's an important thing. As much as we like to make fun of what KYM does, it really wouldn't be good if KYM didn't exist.

Kirk or Picard?

Even while I do like Star Trek, I don't really know much about it. I think I prefer Picard, but I've only ever watched a few episodes my dad has had on.

What’s your favourite river in the world?

Me. Humblest river in the world.

Also what’s the best hair color for an anime waifu/husbandu

It comes down to personal taste, but I feel jet black myself.

You dating?

I have a boyfriend.

If I want Stoffe to gain a desire to suck my dick, how should I up my game?

Act racist. It's Stoffe's mating call.

So, what usage does the FBI have regarding a bunch of pre-teen humerous memesite users, you data mining spy? Because whatever it is, I didn’t do it! Your surveys don’t fool me!

You silly civilian… do you think this is the end game? No….. this is merely the beginning, the foundation for a much greater event……. you are just a pawn in this game, to be used and sacrificed for a much greater cause.

As always, what do you think users can do to help out here?

Make entries, or at least start them when you see we're missing one. PLEASE.

If you don't want to do that, be a calming, thoughtful, and positive force in discussions. Join in, make nuanced and respectful posts, and try to keep discussions going nice.

Help freshen the community?

Games and events. That's a gigantic thing, games and events. The more unique and interesting games and events that show up, the better it is for the community.

What do you think are the best traits of a user, both with personal friends and on the general scale?

Helpful, kind, thoughtful, active. The best users have used the site a good amount, and have made quality contributions.

Can I fuck you?

screencapped ? ? and emailed to my lawyer ??. She will have filed charges ?? by tomorrow ?afternoon . By law We must allow you 48 ⏰?hours to remove ??the ?offending material?. If not?, you will be charged ??with defamation of character?, libel?, and criminal mischief?, all misdemeanors?. You will face a judge trial.
Don’t think you won’t??be ??found ??either. That email with the cap also includes your Dox?, which will ?not?be shared publicly☠️. I’ve also forwarded ?this material to the local ?FBI? field office. They take internet thirst ?VERY seriously?. Especially when your uncle is a ⬆️⬆️high ranking ?Homicide Detective? with good friends ??‍❤️‍?in the ?FBI?the ??US Marshals ??Office, and the ?NSA?.

What did you like about it?

1) Concepts. I love the lucid dream idea (I worked on intentionally lucid dreaming for a while) and how it applied it.
2) Visuals. I'm a sucker for this kind of trippy stuff, which is part of why I absolutely loved Doctor Strange.

Asking everyone this, it seems you have a certain set of skills, how would you list them in a resume if you can?

I would say that I have basic knowledge of statistics and surveying that can be used to help determine the likelihood of things and what people desire.

How would you go about using them in your career?

Hopefully, my career will directly involve statistics. If not, I could probably make some rad-ass visualizations for meetings.

Where does your fascination with statistics come from?

It's a personality thing. I like numbers.

After discovering KYM, what made you want to create an account and join the community?

Unless my memory is off, I made an account to make a comment on one of those images that were like "You are in a combination of the last two games you played" and I thought I had something pretty good. It wasn't an impulse thing though, as before there were a few instances where I had something to say but just didn't feel like making an account. Kind of the straw that broke the camel's back, I guess.

Favorite…

* pokemon

Hard thing to answer, but I really like Sylveon.

shiny pokemon

I rather like Umbreon's shiny.

legendary/mythical pokemon

Manaphy, not for any great strategy or anything, but because of the emotional attachment I have to it given I beat Pokemon Ranger several times over just to get it.

pony

Applejack.

video game character

NIKO!

My baby cat boy girl cutie pie <3

anime character.

Don't really watch anime a lot, so I don't know tbh.

Also are you familiar with the following:
  • Hanazuki
  • other semi-obscure Hasbro properties
  • Persona 5

No, the most I know is that I know Persona 5 exists.

Yeah seriously, who the fuck would want to do that?

Only nerds would.

Are you hitting on me?

No, unless you want me to.

Sorry, it’s not dead, I’ve just gotten distracted with things. I’ll work on that here soon enough hopefully.

That's good to hear.

Hard thing to answer, but I really like Sylveon.

You have good taste. Sylveon has become my favorite Eeveelution, with Vaporeon falling to a close second.

I don't have much in the way of other questions, but how about your favorite Grass-type and Steel-type Pokemon?

No, unless you want me to.

Pls no

I don’t have much in the way of other questions, but how about your favorite Grass-type and Steel-type Pokemon?

I like Chesnaught, because it forms part of the few pokemon I've really trained to be competitive. It's really good. As for steel – and yes, I'm aware of how unoriginal a choice this is – I really like Lucario.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate your life.

π^-1

What was the original username and its following mutations?

I'd prefer not the original, since I was a cringey little kid, but after that came ProfessorRivers, which was my original name here. I changed it to Rivers after a while. However, on Discord and IRC, I'm known as MomRivers.

why did you change your profile pic from the iconic Shantae to your current profile pic?

Neato group 2hu thing on KYM – you're welcome to join in if you want.

It’s raining.

It’s not a question, just something you may find interesting.

It's raining somewhere.
