Hello everyone! This is a special, extended version of my opinion survey which asks about extra things. Recently it's come up that we're lacking in a lot of truly useful demographic data. This survey hopes to remedy that by asking more questions among a more diverse group. Of course, like the other opinion survey, there's also some fun and interesting questions. This also asks about various interests in media, for example. Note that it is entirely anonymous. You need to be logged into your Google account to take it, but nothing about that shows up on my end. The only things I see are what you input.

Lastly, my regular privacy policy, which you can read in the spoiler below, applies.

What It Says On The Box: What I say is what will be done. The information provided for the birthday list goes on the birthday list, and I won’t put it anywhere else. Of course, I can’t guarantee that everyone else will do the same. Remember, you are making the information public.

Others Above Myself: I will never use any data I collect to benefit myself at the expense of others. For example, I will not use the data to shame, dox, embarrass, or otherwise hurt others in such a manner.

Individual Privacy Is Important: In some cases, it’s obvious that the information you provide will be made public (e.g. the Birthday List). In other cases, however, I will strive to make sure that the information is anonymous. Should you make it clear who you are regardless, public releases will have it censored slightly.

Please take the survey here!

Edit: Please don't put in joke answers. It ruins the entire purpose of this and makes my role harder because I have to weed out all that stuff to get accurate information. Thank you.

you are just going to haunt me forever with this whole Trans Marco thing, aren't you…

I'm the whipping boy who made the entry and you get to laugh and laugh.

but on a serious note, glad i can help.

Apologies for the delay. For about a week there my internet had serious issues, to the point where it was a challenge just to load KYM.

Among all respondents, the image galleries were the section people were most satisfied with, with a 3.68/5 satisfaction. This is followed by entries (3.54) and moderators (3.49). The part most people were dissatisfied with was ads, with 2.27/5. The only other section to have a satisfaction below 3 was the frontpage content, with 2.95.

Sometimes it comes up that there is a split between forum goers and the rest of the site. The data validates this. The biggest difference in satisfaction between forum goers and non-forum goers was on the forums, with forum-goers being much more satisfied with the forums than those who do not user the forums. The next biggest divide is on frontpage content, with forumgoers much more satisfied than people who don't use the forums. The smallest difference of opinion was on ads, with both groups effectively equally despising them.

The average respondent to this survey was 21 years old. This hardly differed between forum-goers and non-forum goers. This suggests that half of all active KYM users are 21 or older.

This following part was done pre-popup controversy, so take it with a grain of salt. About 80% of respondents have adblock, and 70% of all respondents used adblock on KYM. This is a lower number than I expected, but still plenty high enough to explain the visceral reaction to the popup.

On the gender side, the results are… very male. 100 males, 2 transgender females, and 1 cisgender female reported their genders on the survey. Regarding sexuality, about 3 out of 4 respondents were heterosexual. About 1 out of 5 respondents said they were bisexual. The remaining ~5% were asexual, homosexual, or reported something else.

On the topic of religion, I had to greatly simplify the results to make it presentable – however, I think the end is still informative and not misleading. A plurality of the 76 respondents to the question of religion did not notably identify with any religion or religious beliefs, with 32 giving that answer. 29 identified as a Christian. 4 said they were Jewish, and 2 Buddhist. Another 9 gave other responses.

Like religion, I had to greatly simplify the answers to the topic of ethnicity to make it presentable. 55 of the 84 respondents said they where Caucasian; another 12 said they were Asian. The remaining 17 were Black (9), Hispanic (5), or something else.

Regarding education levels, the below chart explains it all much better than words could.

The results of the open answers sections won't be released here, but have been taken into consideration among the mod team.

The KYM community decided that Sans is definitely Ness.

Regarding OW mains, Reinhardt came out on top. D.Va, Lucio, and Mercy tied for second place.

3/4 respondents preferred video games to any other forms of media. Music came out in second, with 15% picking it. The preferred genres of video games were RPG, Platformer, FPS, and Strategy, while the preferred genres of music were Rock (by far), Electronic, Metal, and Jazz.

For shows and movies, the preferred genres were Comedy and Action by far, respectively. There was little consensus on favorite pieces of media; however, Gravity Falls stood out as the most popular show.

Lastly, Speedwagon is best husbando confirmed.

If you have any specific questions, I may be able to answer them. If you are into stats stuff and want to do deeper analysis, I may give you a spreadsheet with some of the data if you contact me.

Hope this was informative, and thank you for your patience.

good job Rivers. I am actually a bit shocked on how few females are recorded on the site. I am not going to deny the numbers are obvious but for how few and far it is is staggering.
