I'm curious what the community thinks about this. But I say reaction faces and emoticons.
But more interested how you guys feel. Thx

I would have to say It Is Wednesday My Dudes but only because Reddit is so persistent about spamming it every Wednesday and Twitter helps keep it alive too. Not only that but whenever an event or holiday happens to collide with a Wednesday it gets a shit ton of edits.
Reaction faces and emotes are more a general concept than a meme imo.
Loss is timeless.
JoJo references.

I was too pissed at your outrageous claim to realise it was a YouTube link. I haven't been rickroll'd in ages so thank you for that. I got a little nostalgic there.

Let me hear your thoughts, not your attempt to downgrade me.
I feel like Wojak will be able to persist due to its excellent ability to transform and adapt to the current time and stay relatable.
Some memes make a quick entrance.
Some memes don't get a good reception.
Some memes try to explain themselves too often.
However, some memes are still not a total…loss.jpg.
I feel like if I say anything I'm gonna jinx it…
LOL @RandomMayne…. if you look at the entries I linked it clearly says MEME and CONFIRMED daedae
I think also 60's Spider Man is Legend and always will be funny.
Please ppl, think about it…
Doge is definatly one that will always have a place in my heart
Rickrolling
Spongememes
I'm pretty sure I asked a simple fucking question in the OP.
Not to be an ass, but answer the question. sorry dudes, but WTF
Loss
Loss will never die
Expand DONG and its variants.
Any game that features Donkey Kong will likely have some kind of edit, as well as the fact that making immature jokes about dicks will never go out of style as long as teenagers exist (not that there's anything wrong with making immature jokes mind you).
Also the whole collage style of creating a phrase by taking letters from various sources is part of this, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.
Team Fortress 2 memes and reference lives on forever.

At the lack of a better term. They don't fall within Culture or Subculture, although looking at it this might be up for debate. Who knows, I might change it.
Look at this way: It's like saying Image Macros are timeless. You don't say Advice Animals, you don't mention a specific image macro meme, you just say the general existance of image macros. Too broad, 90% could die and you'd still be right.
You didn't need to spend 3 posts on this, I am not attacking your choice, I simply choose to disagree and you get your panties in a knot.
Spongebob memes
They're always relevent
Does getting angry at comic sans being used in public count as a meme?
@RandomMan.
lol look at me getting all serious about memes again. my fault, You are right. I probably should have named the thread better.
Kind of what I wanted to discuss was "memes" that won't go out of style, I guess and adding Subcultures/Cultures as well. Also, just stuff in Meme Culture that we feel will always be relevant and aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
You were just trying to stay on topic and now I really understand what you mean.
Speaking on subject, because I can't edit this nonsense out, I do feel like the reaction images are timeless. Kind of the "essence" of a meme.
What I want to hear is from researchers and people that have been documenting this for quite some time. But anything will do as long as anyone thinks first.
I do in fact see Anniversaries of memes being selected by staff, but from the community point of view I'd like to understand how a group of people feels about an idea more than one person or tight-knit group of people.
Aside from loss, one kind of meme that doesn't seem ready to settle down ever are word replacement videos (X but every Y is Z, etc).
I first saw these when the Nutshack Edits were still popular and ever since there has always been at least one video at any given time that's given the same treatment. Right now Steamed Hams is the most popular version. I think Steamed Ham edits will eventually wane in popularity but it will likely be replaced with new edit, continuing the cycle.
Image Macros with its many offshoots are the most basic of memes.
YouTube Poops and YTPMVs will keep inspiring generations to make more in the future.
Loss just because of how inane the original comic strip is.
Spongebob because it's "always relevant".
Fittingly, "what year is it" doesn't seem to be losing any ground.
Depends on what you consider a dead meme. Is a meme "dead" once it stops being spammed on 4chan? If so, I don't see Pepe ever dying. As for long-lasting relevance, "All your base are belong to us" is basically the prototype meme, thus it is eternal.
