Can impersonal opinions affect emotions?

Hello everyone
I don’t know how to word that question correctly, but what I mean is that I’ve had times where I see opinions on movies, games, etc. that contradict mine and somehow make my heart feel weird, as if I need to vent it out--yet my mind keeps coming back to it all the time after the venting.

I’ve notice this happen to me whenever it involves my disinterest in Jojo and my liking towards Fire Emblem Fates. I see people praising Jojo all around or bashing Fates every time and it makes me feel like I’m in the wrong for contradicting them. It’s why you guys keep seeing my comments towards Jojo or Fates, I always wanna express them to vent but somehow I can’t seem to ignore it.

It’s nothing too serious, thankfully but I still want your thoughts on all this.
Thanks

I think what you're talking about is the a-typical "someone is WRONG on the internet!" feeling when you see a contradicting opinion regarding something you feel very strongly (and knowledgable) about.

I get that way when people sit there praising TF2 like it was something innovative and amazing when it is nothing more then a shiny looking game with less features then TFC. Before I get too off topic here, the more you know and enjoy something the more you tend to perceive (as negative) and/or (over)react to opinions regarding whatever it is; games, movies, literature, hentai, etc. Look at how some fandoms descend into epileptic fits over minute details like possible ship-mates or whatever, or how divide communities become after a sequel to a popular game is released.

I suppose when you realize people are able to enjoy many a thing for many a different reason then the need to tell them their wrong and their opinion stinks and they should feel ashamed of themselves tends to fall by the wayside. Goes for you as well, no need to let others opinion influence your emotions on a given subject because whatever reasons you have are just as valid as theirs.

This is normal. Over time your interests become part of your identity, so when you feel they're "attacked" it registers as an attack on you. Just try to internalize that people liking different things is okay. As long as you don't attack people for their interests you're already 1 step ahead of many internet dwellers.
