So, I can't help noticing that you can't search for Hentai Quotes any more. And all the links that Google gives me come up 404. So, what's up with that?

Admins decided to hide it. So far the stated explanation is:

We've locked any image galleries associated with entries using the tag "loli" "lolicon" or "pomf" due to NC content and are in the process of figuring out what to do about it.

EDIT: Right now it appears Admins are working on revising content guidelines, though it's unclear on what exactly the revised guidelines will look like at this point.

Several galleries have been locked (though some of these were entries that do not appear legitimate that just happen to have a Loli/lolicon tag), this tag has also been removed from some entries that arguably do not need it.

Wait what's with this sudden clampdown on loli? Did someone threaten to send the Party Van to this site?

Thanks, Jacob, that was satisfyingly thorough, albeit disheartening. I should have thought about tracking the money, I saw the same thing happen at TV Tropes when Google's ad income threatened to dry up. Oddly enough, that's why I gave up Tropes and came to KYM! I'd get all angry and pretentious about this but it's not like I'm paying KYM's server bill, you know?

The issue seems to only be in regards to sexual content involving minors, so no.

Um….they're fictional characters and KYM hosts much viler content involving fictional characters.

If advertisers threaten to pull form the site and that threatens its existence, then the site will have to abide or have no funding.

Removing the only reason why people visit isn't a good business model.

Odds are the galleries will get unlocked after things get sorted out. The hides+locks were more a preemptive measure to sweep a broom where necessary until staff discussion is done. Shouldn't take more than a few days tops.

Don't panic and be patient. Don is keeping mods updated quite well so far.

Don't touch kids.

To be honest, why does "Flat is Justice" have lolicon as a tag anyway? I thought it was supposed to be about grown up characters who are still flat, do people honestly post prepubescent girls then fetishisize their flat chest in that gallery? I mean the lolicon gallery is right over there.

BTW, I notice that you can Google "Hentai Quotes KYM" and find links to the individual postings. You can also click on the "You Might Also Like" photos on each page. That shouldn't affect Google ad income since they already linked to them. It ain't much, but it can give you a chuckle and keep away the withdrawal DTs!

So, any news about this..? The only change I see so far is the Pedobear entry open again for submissions. One week and still the same situation… well, this would not be the first site where I see this, so I would aready start to get worried.

On a related note, this really seems to be an internet-wide situation. Just about every hentai site also added a warning of sorts to anything "containing loli or shota", which I also assume to be pushed by advertisers. Pretty much the closest equivalent to YouTube's adpocalypse in the hentai world. Sounds like something I would make a frontpage update for, specially if it escalates further, point at which I predict there will be some very heated debate about online censorship everywhere. Again.

As usual, I'd suggest you stop jumping to conclusions and stay patient. Once the admins have finalized a solution, they'll most likely post an explanation.

This is sort of what happened to Tv Tropes and their censorship and self-censorship prevents them to catalogue tropes in the first place, the very thing they're supposed to do. And that's because a few people think that cataloguing them is "wrong" without showing any evidence to back their arguments up.

Staff is a bit short staffed (pun intended) because of vacation and shit, while also things like the daily entry quotum and secret staff agendas *wink* require priority.

It's taking a bit long than expected. If any of the hidden/locked entries require to have that undone, Don can give em a quick overlook and do so if mods ask him. He's cool like that, but this is reserved for emergencies. Related to topic: Hentai Quotes might remain locked, because of a multitude of reasons.

And it better be the last. I'm all for less loli, but the users of KYM better not have a policy of appeasment with the Admins if they take anything else.

KYM is supposed be a catalog of internet culture. This is like IHOP not having banana pancakes, and they tell you to buy them somewhere else.

You're aware that no one can ever post any new ones, right? Heck, why don't we just stop posting memes, there's tons on them!

"Go get it somewhere else" is the business equivalent of "if you don't like, don't watch", and I would be severely concerned if an actual mod or Staff member ever said this at any point regarding KYM's content. Telling your customers to go buy it somewhere else is generally not a good selling point or PR move.

The content that was hidden is going to be addressed after we finish the Two Decades of Memes event this weekend. We just hid it for now since we haven't been able to go through that entire gallery yet. We are currently in crunch time for our event, so please be patient.
