This is certainly unexpected, and quite sad to hear. When it comes to celeb deaths that you don't expect, he was the last person in my mind to hear about.
Believe it or not, I actually had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago. I met him while he was on vacation with his, I presume, girlfriend at the time. Back then I was working as a tour guide for an outdoor activity company as the head tour guide.
They went ATV riding with my tour group, although it was pretty slow that morning so it was just the two of them and 2 other people, for about 4 hours so we hung out and chatted. I'm not really the type to get starstruck, or care much about celebrities so i kept it pretty professional and didn't want to pester him about his work.
Still, from our conversations we had I do remember him being very genuine, and passionate about his interests. Grant, to me, came off as a super nice dude who really was quite pleasant to talk to. It was cool to learn that he really was as nice in real life, as he was behind the camera. I even still have the photo I took with him on my phone.
Rest in Peace Mr. Imahara, you will be missed.
This is pretty terrible. You'll be missed, Grant.
I enjoyed Myhtbuster in my late kids & early teens. While I admire Adam and Jamie more, Grant is a pretty chill and cool guy. Helps that his knowledge on effects does help aid on the experiments and I get to know some of the more technical stuff.
Farewell, Grant. Thank you for all your hard work on Mythbusters.
My condolences to his friends and family moving forward
Another great mind taken from us too soon. Rest in Peace, Mr. Imahara.
