So the 2020 US Presidential election page has an… interesting layout.

By interesting I of course mean ugly and bland layout that does nothing to actually make the site better, as well as completely abandoning any resemblance to the old one.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't be a new thing.

I've noticed that happening every now and then with some of the bigger, better known memes.

Although a fresh coat of paint can be a good thing, I've got to say that I really don't like the new design because it feels so antiquated; like something you'd expect to see from five or so years ago.

It just makes everything unfocused and hard to read. It also hides the forums in a small drop-down menu in the corner which is really unintuitively placed.

If they do go forward with the new design change, it would be nice if there was an option for those of us who prefer the current layout to keep it that way.

It looks unintuitive with lots of dead space, not really aesthetic either.

It's a surprisingly common trend for a lot of sites to just throw everything out the window and force a minimalistic design onto everyone. However, since KYM is a more tightly knit community, I hope this means the staff will be more inclined to listen to feedback.

Just yesterday, I was thinking about how nice it was that KYM had yet to suck up to the "minimalist website" trend like most other big sites in the past couple years.

It would honestly be amazing if we could actually get one of these sites to not go through with a minimalist redesign for once.

I'm not entirely sure the new design is worse, I can say with certainty that it isn't any better.
