-A fishing fleet of canoes makes its way along the Black Sea coast, bringing Syserror into contact with a number of small coastal towns.

-Bimonthly meetings have been arranged in order to assess how the government is running things, and how satisfied various sectors are with the ruling party. It also acts as a science convention, in order to gather together the nation's brightest to share ideas and lobby for public support.
-A stealth-based militia group is put together, armed with melee weapons used primarily in stabbing, and trained in ambush tactics.
-Salt is dug up from the former sea floor and illegally exported into Japan, where the stuff is hard to come by, fetching a high price.

-Coastal fishing increases, and fishing villages rise in prominence as people flock to docks to get a job in the lucrative business.

-Areas west of the empire are claimed, but few choose to permanently move into the new land. There is no real reason to settle there.

-A militia is put together using scavenged materials for weapons. Immediately following its organization, the new force is sent north to attack the rebellious city states. One of them is captured.
-Various unspeakable crimes against humanity are committed, in the name of science and the master race. Because of the high mortality rate associated with it some minorities, especially twins, are becoming scarce.
-Nationalism is inspired in the military groups. Commanders push the idea that the soldiers are united like brothers by their loyalty and service.

-Farming begins to largely replace foraging and scavenging as a means of getting food.
