After lurking through lots and lots of stuff, I found this.
It's just part of a big story about a game prototype that was never released and unleashed a giant hoax and urban legend as well.
Long short story, everything you need to know aboout the backstory is on the link. The thing is that after I found the story, I found these:
The Butter Monster is part of the hoax, but it got a bit of spread.
There are even YTMNDs based on the monster.
JA I AM MADE OF DUR BUTTER
The Butter Monster had ONE WEAKNESS…
I even found these videos:
And here's the real gameplay:
Should we make an entry for Bio Force Ape/Dur Butter considering that's all I could find? (If we do, it would be an Event entry for sure).

Well, I've seen some confirmed articles that have been notable and of high enough "quality" that has less information and posted media than this post, especially in the earlier entries. It seems fun though (the only requirement I need to get involved with an article.)
I'll try to do some research today and see how the butter monster/dur butter itself has been used and how much it's been used. It certainly seems like an event type of entry, but I don't know too much about Events.
I won't say anything on whether there should be an article on it though. I'm still learning the order of things here.
Meme-worthy for sure. As a religious follower of lost levels AND retro prototypes, this is hilarious. Make sure you don't overdose on that communism though. Here's some more schtuff: http://durbutter.com/

Found more bits:
I AM MADE OF DUR BUTTER
A website made to conmemorate the Hoax thread

It's also worth mentioning that the hoax received some attention online beteen 2005 and 2008, and eventually on 2010 when the game was finally discovered, dumped and shared on the web.
The hoax stroy was actually used as an argument in the debate whether it's good or bad to dump prototypes since doing such a thing devaluates them, but not doing that at all is like burning documents.
I think there's not too much to search. I know this is small and obscure, but there are at least some entries related to minor events that had an online spread.
I'll make the entry around this week, if you want to help, you're welcome.

I've already done the entry.
It needs ALOT of work.
I would request editorship, but I'd never fucking get in. Ever since the Oshino thing, entries and I have stayed FARRRR apart.
I registered only to point out that the "existence" picture is my work, and it flatters me to see anyone post it… even if it was just a drop in the ocean.

Neat. I guess I'm speaking mostly on behalf of Silver Chariot, but we were glad certainly it was out there. Thanks. There were only about 40 or so images, so any piece is important. He's uploaded all of the media, and I'm having trouble finding new stuff.
If you followed this hoax and/or game (or anyone else,) I was looking for info to add about the purchase of the game on the eBay auction and the subsequent dump. I've got the name of the person who bought it and supposedly dumped it, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get in contact with them.
I've gotten that much information from the article Silver Chariot posted earlier, but I'd like to find something specific (eBay information, site/forum/thread on which the ROM was first linked) to add to the external references. I doubt Lost Levels would just make the dumping information up, but you never know. We just know the ROM is out there.
And, of course, moar butter-related media. My arteries aren't clogged with lulz just yet.
You've missed this: http://lostlevels.org/bio-force-ape/ ?
Or are you speaking with that in mind?

Yeah, speaking with that in mind.
It's what Silver Chariot used to get us (us being his team of researchers, and me being the team of researchers) oriented to the event. I'd like to find an actual log of what happened (e.g., eBay page, forum where it was first dumped.)
I may post the Lost Levels link in the external resources, but only after I can better confirm the information in the Lost Levels link. Thanks, though. I can very easily miss a good source of information like that.
