So throughout the last decade, there has been plenty of pop culture parodies of the popular U.S. college basketball tournament known as March Madness. The most well known examples include Memebase's Meme Madness, MTV's Music Madness, brackets involving popular fandoms, and brackets involving toys. I think this would be worth documenting.

Well, if we're going to do in that direction, I did hear about people coming up with brackets to elect the new Pope (back when electing the Pope was a thing).
nice topic. from own experience, the MTV musical march madness has a pretty big impact on certain parts of the internet: when /mu/ found out that one of their most precious bands My Bloody Valentine had just 1% of the votes in the competition against Tokio Hotel, they started using macros to bombard the poll with votes. They're on 49.4% now and the poll closes today, it's gonna be interesting..
