"Ima keep it real with u chief" (roughly translated as "I'm going to be honest with you, man") is a quote attributed to Kermit the Frog when talking to fellow Muppet Pepe the King Prawn in an image macro series.
The original macro, judging by the watermark, was posted by Instagram user @icyunvme_echols, but the account is private. It reads "Ima keep it real with u chief!! / U ugly as fuck brah !! U gonna have to pay for some pussy".
At some point, a popular "deep fried" version was made that would become the basis for most edits.
The macro (original and deep fried) had some spread on its own, but it gained traction as a reaction template on Twitter (where I've seen it at least) where users crudely edit the bottom text into something else. The first and most common of these was one edited with a white brush and black text that reads "Ain't nobody clicking that shit". Most subsequent examples are further edits of this one.
