"I did something worse" / "I trusted you"

What started as an unironic quote format like Hey Girls, Did You Know became a recurring phrasal template in ironic memes parodying them. They usually take roughly this form:

Character 1: "I'm sorry. I cheated on you."
Character 2: "It's okay. I did something worse."
Character 1: "What?"
Character 2: "I trusted you."

I don't know where exactly it started, but this text conversation seems to be its first widespread unironic appearance. It has several copycat screencaps and I can't say which came first, but most have the same top caption "this fucked me up". If the timestamp is to be trusted and this is the true original, we can say this meme started February 3, 2016.

After this (and/or possibly before), cheesy, generic quote images began appearing.




Then came the 4 Panel Cringe style parodies.
