Simulation results for slapping a chicken at 3275.95 mph

So this meme flooded my engineering-related social feeds last week and being the bored engineer that I am, I fired up ANSYS to see how well this meme actually holds up in the real world.

tl;dr

Yes, you can technically cook a chicken by slapping it through the amount of plastic deformation that would occur if you were to execute this meme correctly.

A few caveats:

  • the chicken will turn into a mist in less than 500 microseconds
  • your hand will disintegrate regardless of material (I used steel in this simulation)
  • don't tell your family what you did with tonight's dinner (or your hand)

I might also write a report/paper on this so be on the lookout
