Since nominations were starting to take up the New Boards discussion, I thought it would be a good idea to move them here.

This thread will be for both making nominations and discussing which nominations should move forward – at least until we can come up with a more formalized system (if we ever do).

Context:

RandomMan suggested a new forum consisting of the following:

Hall of fame (needs a clever name): a place to highlight great threads that have run their course. all locked, like a museum for lols.

Suggestions put forward so far include:

-This Goat (Platus)
-Samuel L Jackson (Harshwhinny)
-Come Bakc Gamzee!!! (BSoD)

And a whole bunch by Captain Blubber:

-Community Building Experiment Test Chamber 1
-Know Your Meme has the best T-Shirts! Get some!
-This yes. Mod fanart?
-Wheel of Fortune!
-IM A SHAAAARRRK!
-I'm just going to leave this here….

Keep in mind that I haven't been vetting or passing judgement on any of the nominations or anything. I just wanted to make sure that everything in the old thread was moved to this one so the discussion didn't lose anything.

also, i will nominate all 4 cbc threads because even though i made them they only worked because people participated.

I'd nominate the CBC threads. It was/is a really good idea that should be held in high regard.

I'd say the first Pony General thread. Maybe not all (although I wouldn't be opposed to all of them being "archived",) but if I remember correctly, it was the "KYM X General" thread that started the rest of the KYM General threads. Also, it's the only thread that hit 200 pages and was pressured into being locked (and perhaps rightfully so,) because 200 pages in a thread section takes up a lot of space on a screen.

Finally, it serves as a bit of a documentary of the goings-on regarding the show in "real-time" as opposed to hindsight like the main article does.

Bob's 2013 April Fools thread scavenger hunt. That was fun. And his personal coaching thread.

Suiseiseki's Drawing Thread. The thread that pretty much made the popularity of drawing threads explode from that point forwards.

If I'm not being too immodest, since Wheel of Fortune has been suggested, how about MEME JEOPARDY!

Also, if someone can find it, the very first KYMNatRP might be good.

Alright, with the creation of the new boards, I think we should move this thread into the Hall of Fame.

Or should we make a new thread there?

Maybe we should be looking through forum threads that were featured on the front page in the past?

I agree that at least the first pony thread should be moved, if not the first few.

Post that thread where Troll King had a big KYM election and it turned out to be an elaborate ruse.

Well, we can either move the first one, or all of the locked ones. If we are only going to do some, we would need a criteria for deciding the cut-off.

I vote for the latter. It's not like we don't have any space, and those threads are a pretty comprehensive record of the brony fandom's impact on the site.

Though I am also super duper biased on this question, so perhaps we should open the floor.

For the sake of brevity, I say only the first three.

I may also be biased but I'd like to see the poni archives there too.

I've immortalized as many of the images from "The internet can now find stars" thread into this video. Maybe someone can unlock that thread, add this video and then relock it? I'd like to see it end on a good note.

The issue with moving that thread Alex, is that while Riff-Raff does not require users to be decent to each other, the rest of the site does. Moving a thread to Memeory Lane simply to shame a singular user very much conflicts with that, and even if such a rule was ignored, with the vast quantity of threads where a single user acts stupid, that thread being moved alone would be quite odd.

Restricting memeory lane to only "fun" threads would be extremely…boring. There are some serious discussions that deserve a place in memeory lane.

To be honest, I agree with adding the HOH thread to memeory lane.

Yeah, I say go for putting the HOH thread in there. It's something worth remembering, so it belongs in memeory lane.

I think it may be questionable. While it's certainly "something worth remembering", you might want to consider what it might mean for the community to have a thread like that saved for posterity. It could easily be taken the wrong way.
