God every time i watch these 9/11 documentaries it always shakes me down to my nerves. I actually have a challenge for you guys. In honor of the ten year anniversary of 9/11 i ask that someone make a pony fanart commemorating that day.

Everypony, I've changed my mind after some browsing of pictures and I've come to the conclusion that human ponies don't creep me out anymore. In fact, I even drew this quick human Fluttershy fanart to celebrate.

Anthro ponies still scare me shitless though o_O

That's pretty good, and I don't mind the anthro ponies at all, if I could get some of the usual artist to respond, I'd have them as anthros, probably wearing the GB equipment and outfit.

Well yes that is very good but i was hoping for like a drawn picture but i do appreciate you participating. And sorry if i go a little over board with this stuff but since my birthday 9/11 i like to get all this stuff out of the way early so i can at least celebrate it.

Oh, geez, had no idea, honestly. Sorry if I made u feel down man. Must be tough. My true apologies.

Oh no dude its not that your making me sad its just i like to get it all outta the way early so i can feel good on my b-day theres no need to apologize.

Sorry to be complaining about something once again, but something about mixing ponies with the 9/11 attacks really doesn't feel right. Mixing colourful ponies from a children's TV show with the most devastating and tragic terrorist attack in history just seems wrong. I don't even know why, but I have this gut feeling saying DO NOT WANT.
As my way of apology for making you read through yet another complaint, have this pic of Fluttershy which is so cute I'm surprised it's not illegal.

I'm trying to draw a pic of the new york skyline, but without the towers' silhouette, plus a little shadow flying over the whole thing with a rainbow following it
sound good to anyone?
oh crud, i didnt read the post above this one >.<

ok time for a new discussion, the most serios discussion so far…
HATERS

im not talking about the people not liking the show, im talking about the haters.
i want to get the best understanding of them as possible. what drives people to spew so much bullshit and hatred on something that they never watched?
sure my little pony was considered a girly and shitty show for 30 years but if so many people say it's good, why aren't they giving a chance? at worst he will just say 'not a bad show i just don't like it'. instead they invade brony threads and scream about how gay and stupid my little pony used to be.
i could never hate someone for liking something. so how come so many people are flaming bronies even when completly unrelated?

They are Memes and / or funny pics thats all. the one I did (and got -1 for) is from this meme
and here is another pic (not done by me)

Some people think the best way to deal with tragedy is with comedy and some people (like me) have a sick sense of humor but after every disaster there has been a meme to go with it. Check the many pages on KYM (not just the pony page) and you will see for yourself.

Let's not get into this discussion. Some people just can't have a civil discussion about this subject.

Where as I can act civil in this discussion…. Other comes short.. and don't know where to stop. So It's best not to get into THIS Discussion.

why people can have a civil discussion about this subject? what could possible go wrong? we are all friendly here right?

I'll leave Daniel to answer that, as I really don't want to go into this.

I don't see anything wrong with discussing this. Yeah, it could lead to a stupid argument, but that's a risk you always take when you say something on the internet. I think I'll risk it this time.

Verbose wrote a short essay on this topic a while back. I'll summarise some of his arguments here, but there's a good chance I'll get some of it wrong. You'll get a much better answer from him. Basically, the idea that adult males like a show such as MLP conflicts with the hater's personal understanding of masculinity and/or maturity, leading to cognitive dissonance. Often it's easier to fight against an opposing idea than it is to accept it, since a person's understanding of these basic concepts may determine their actions or their personality, or it may be the basis of some of their core beliefs. It can be wasteful of time and energy to uproot a long-held belief, so it can be advantageous to someone to hold on to it in spite of the opposition. By fighting against the opposing ideas, they are able to solidify their own views and prevent further cognitive dissonance.

Of course the most mature reaction is to ignore the conflict entirely, and just accept that others may have different views. Unfortunately, humans are naturally inclined towards conflict, and in an arena such as the internet where people can state their views with the protection that anonymity offers, there are few consequences for attacking somebody else's beliefs, interests or actions.

I've probably just made a complete mockery of some aspect of the social sciences, so ask Verbose if you want a better answer. Hater attacks may not always occur for a reason as deep as that though; some people just enjoy trolling.

I'll post my thoughts on your wall or by other means. It's true: we're all friendly, but I believe that conversation is best held elsewhere.

But I gotta get to work too. I'll do that later for you.

Looks at post above
@Algernon
You get an A, sir. I'll go into more detail about it later, anyway, but that will definitely work for now.

Eh, some people get quite 'verbal', I guess is the polite way of saying it, when trolls are brought up. Not everyone has a short temper when talking over the subject between other bronies but some people just get far too 'verbal'.

On another topic, this is what happens when my 2 obsessions collide:

TF2 and ponies work far too well together ponyshrug

I was going to name my Machina "Low Orbital Friendship Cannon"… and I see you have a Bills… I gave one of my friends a bills for free. But I'm pretty hatless without it. But hey, I want it that way, don't want him to stress like I did to get me a hat.

I think this pretty much sums it up. To me, it seems like the haters seem to think that once we hit a certain age, everything that kids like should be off limits, and we should stick to things like M rated games and such, but you know, that's just my opinion and whatnot.

I'm also glad that I got that page saved in my favorites, cause now the unthinkable has happened.

Nah, not really. This might become the norm, but that doesn't really bother me much. I'm a bit concerned that we might see a decrease in new bronies signing up or that some current ones might leave due to the lack of activity on the main page, but I guess it's only fair to the rest of the site.

Personally, if EqD had a forum, I'm sure most everybody would migrate over there.

Yea, its actually kinda good to see ponies not on the trending bar to give others a chance to shine and take first place without it continuously ending up as a deadpool.

Yeah, but my question is, would any of those memes get as much s*it as we did if they hung around on the top trending bar as long?

And I might be exaggerating a bit, but this is probably going to wind up being a death sentence for ponies on this site.

Huh, nice to see that I'm getting negative karma for my opinion, that was of course to be expected.

Yes. Yes they would. And if another meme stays trending for 6 months straight, then I will definitely step in and make them stop. But I don't really see that happening any time soon.

Someone really has to have words with Sethisto about that. I've seen this recommended quite a few times. I know I'd use it.

I would as well, we wouldn't receive as much grief as we do here. I don't understand why they don't, they have most everything else, so I'm kinda not understanding why they don't have a forum.

I think Equestria Daily is technically a blog, which is why it links to content rather than hosting it. I'm guessing there's something to do with the blog style of the site that makes it difficult to introduce forums. I still wish they'd find a way though.

So do I man, so do I.

Not to derail the thread but have some racecar:

I want to say thanks to Omni for inspiring me to finish this project. It's been sitting in my WIP folder for a month, so I'm happy to have it finished. Shouts out to all the guys on the Ponyville TF2 server as well.

Well damn cuz i sleep till twelve i miss some of the best convo's. On the the topic of haters the only reason i get angry with them is cuz most of the time they mess with other bronies and i have a real problem with people who mess with my friends. On the topic of the trending bar I dont have a problem with that nor do i have a problem using the forums. And yes that is forza 3 and yes i am very jealous of your race car skin
