Okay I would now like to pose all yall a question:

If in the new season of MLP they made one [subtle] reference to anything at all… What would that 'thing' be?

For me they would either be some sort of Zelda reference (Remember that scene from Powerpuff Girls with the Mayor playing OOT? It wouldn't be big liek dat but…) or an Evil Dead reference. I have no clue how they would do that and make the show still for children but I would be nice if a character had to remember three words and they forgot in a comedic fashion. (that would be great because it would also be a reference to the day the earth stood still)

Nazi Zombies. Twilight opens some old chest, and takes out a music box while looking for something else. The music box would sound like the Random Weapon Box.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if there was a Powerpuff Girls reference.

NGE, just because the thought of a MLP/NE crossover makes me very happy.

I had always thought "Wow, I don't get it: why are there so many people watching this show? I mean, is it really THAT good?"
So I lurked on Know Your Meme for a few days, and I eventually cracked and watched it.
Aaaaand… now we're here.

Also, Gigatoast, I haven't been taking part in this discussion for long. If you don't mind me asking, I'd like to know what the episode is.

First I saw a few image macros of cute ponies referencing other memes on an unrelated site that I liked, then I started seeing ponies everywhere as well as people saying the show was good now.

I was intrigued by how popular ponies had become because for one thing, overhauls of old shows almost never seem to go over well and two, in previous years, it was only regarded as a 22 minute long commercial who's primary objective clearly wasn't to captivate an audience but to sell peculiar looking pony toys to girls. I figured "but if it wasn't good before and got an overhaul, that could make sense, especially because it looks like a lot more work went into this series than the others!"

So naturally I was all "now the show has actual entertainment value and the ponies are adorable, not to mention it's widely enjoyed by dudes my age? Yeah I think I better check this out, and soon I just wanted to keep smiling FOREEEVEEER!

Long story short. Some forum died. Admin came back. Made a thread saying he's back. Thread gets about 300 spam posts in the next 24 hours. He says he loves that forum because it's like a worksafe 4chan, but there wasn't any ponies. he demanded someone post some god damn ponies. I looked into it, found ponies on KYM. Ye olde forum went to hell, now I spend my days here

I got into this by accident. I found out about the show through KYM. I saw how much other people love the show and decided "Hell, I'll give anything a shot." Watched one episode. I liked the animation style, characterizations and the show in general. So I watched another episode checking for a fluke and next thing I knew i watched the entire season. I had a KYM account before I joined the herd so zip bang-boom, I'm here.

hmm, I was on Memebase, saw a bunch of pony pictures, got annoyed, somehow got to Know Your Meme, saw all the pictures and videos and comments, saw an episode, wasnt hooked, saw another episode, and then i was hooked.

Yay! I finally finished my newest pony drawing, so I decided to share it with you guys. Hope 'ya don't mind the image spam. Next time I've gotta draw something more badass to avoid a serious case of diabetes.

The whole thing is based on this one.

I once wrote out the full story detailing how I became a brony, but it's pretty lengthy (it's on page 15 if you're interested). Long story short, I discovered the fandom through this site and tried watching the show just to see what all the fuss was about. After a few episodes of feeling uncomfortable I got hooked. I did a fair amount of lurking before actually getting an account here and getting involved.

Then was Pony Day on MEMEBASE, I wondered why they had such low votes for being so funny.

Followed the link on MEMEBASE to the KYM article.

Almost fell completely in love with ponies.

It's episode 2, I simply can't STAND that episode.

The characters don't get developed much. Nightmare Moon doesn't so much antagonize them as she does provide incredibly contrived ways of having them display their "Elements of Harmony" which (thankfully) don't ever get referenced again in the season. And the whole thing makes me feel like I'm actually watching a show for little girls, not the well thought out cartoon for all ages that it actually is.

Oh, and it gave rise to my least favorite "character" in the canon. SHE HAS ONE FRIKIN' LINE! Not a smart move Studio B, now you've let the internet have their way with her instead of developing her yourself!

The one upside is that it's got my favorite Pinkie song, in fact Pinkie's just awesome in general in that episode. So there still isn't a single episode I can say I hate from start to finish.

I always liked cartoons so I wasn't exactly taken aback by the fact that people where really into the show. I was hanging out on The Escapist forums when it was taken over by bronies, so I just said "f**k it, I'll check the show out" and the rest is history.

It's also been surprisingly easy to convert my friends and family to ponydom, I've probably created at least 4 more bronies since I started being open about it.

I was just on their webpage and I didn't see this shirt. Also, wasn't this a stolen design, or was that another design?

That's not a flaw. the animators have said they use the same ponies over and over especially in crowd scenes to save time and money.

That was a different one, they look kinda similar though.

Yeah, I noticed that for some reason the stolen design was back up, but not the one in the picture I quoted.

Of course the guy might've gotten that shirt from another site. I may have to ask.

I think they contacted the guy who made it and got permission to use them, they also payed him for 3 or 4 other designs. I think there are Twilight, Applejack, and Pinkie ones on the way, at least that's what I heard on the Bronyville podcast.

I'm getting so much pony merch for free. My brony friend said he would buy me a plush for my birthday, my non brony friend said she would get me the plastic molded ones if I would open them at school (which I will) and my parents will buy me a tee-shirt. Insert flutterrage laugh here.

I've been meaning to get involved in this community at some point
this seems like a good way

firstly I noticed a lot of ponies on memebase but i just thought "OH INTERNET!" and sort of ignored the fact that loads of adults were obsessing over ponies
i chuckled at these pony images for a while and found them interesting until eventually a comic appeared on the webcomic VG Cats about the ponies (a comic which has since been removed) so I thought "okay it's time to see what the fuss is all about"
so I searched on youtube and watched the first few episodes
at first I was like "yea this is pretty cool" and then after I was a few more episodes I was completely obsessed and I'd watched through all of the episodes that were out until Party of One which I had to wait for (which was agonising for me as I was on a pony binge)
I think by that point I considered myself a brony and started regularly visiting Equestria Daily

Funny story… Around early July my sister's friend (who is arounf 20) asked us (me and my sister)if we watched My Little Pony. mfw she said that:

We just replied with: "Well we don't watch shows like that…" Then she said that a lot of older people, even guys liked the show. That greatly confused me and I never really thought about it after that. Then one day on youtube a user by the name of "Chiptunecat" Favorited a video called "Pony Bepop". I had [barley] watched Cowboy Bebop a long time ago and thought it was cool but that isn't why I watched the video. After watching the uberly high quility video I then realised that my friend was right. I saw then a few other PMVs and then I saw one with Captain Planet. At that moment I realised that there was no way in hell just little children were watching the show.

So with everything you just read, I found out about the show pretty much without knowing about the fanbase, or the internet following.

So then I called my friend (who has an account on this site now) and told him this: "Okay I'm going to watch this show, that appearently has changed so many peoples lives. So I need you to know what I am doing and how I will be affected by it, that is if I like it". Besides the fact he thought that was rather strange I saw the first (part one of the pilot) episode. My reaction went something like: "Huh? Okay… That was pretty okay" and then I called my friend again and said: "Okay there is another part to this episode, only then I will tell you what I think". He agreed and I watched the second episode. I still thought it was okay, the animation was great and such but I didn't see what the bug deal was, but then. Something happened when that episode ended. I had this urge to watch the third episode. I don't even know why, honestly I thought I saw enough. I could not control this urge, and it was very weird. I called my friend about that and by the end of that day I saw six some episodes. Did some reshearch on KYM and Wikipedia and I was loving this show.

I called my friend and said these excat words: "Hey [Assfro] (not his real name, no shit) I'm sorry it took a little while to call you back but I saw a little more of the show… …I have to say after learning more about it and seeing more episodes… oh about that, I got to watch about six or so and this is the conclusion that my brain has came up with…"

There was a long pause that lasted around three seconds but it felt like twenty seven.

"THIS SHOW IS THE MANLIEST THING SINCE DIE HARD"

He of course laughed his ass off from the positive reaction, and (mostly) my word choice. I showed him a few episodes, doesn't really care for the show. But I'm glad my best friend was tolerent enough for that. Many of my other friends were like: "…?..!..?…………..>.>………?!?…….wut………wow [skimaskkass]…." So at least from the start one of my friends accepted who I am. But hey, I was the person who infected Minecraft into my school, and who knows… The school year is almost here for me and who know what will happen in the months to come. :P (also getting a 20% cooler in 10 seconds flat shirt for school)

It's not the imbeds that annoy me. It's the quoting of those same images…all of said images…so that I have to look at the same pictures in order three or four times that annoys me.

I think you chose well. Most of the guys posting on this thread have broken the stereotypes I had of Bronies (not the usual "gay" or "pedophile" stereotypes, mind you) and of people that post on geeky forums online, in general.

Yeah, I saw that one via EqD. I didn't really like it, and I don't think most of the people that follow VGCats (Brony or not) liked it either.

No joke, I was playing a game frequented by military folks (ie hard as fucking shit) and I found bronies. Not just one or two. Everywhere. Our commander was one, two squad lead were, several rifleman and even the mod was one. That server officially became 20% cooler.

How many bronies here can draw a pony fairly well from memory without a model or picture?

I was able to draw Derpy at school the other day pretty accurately without looking at anything, but when I tried to draw Pinkie I couldn't get her hair right for the life of me.

i tried rainbow dash, but the face kept looking zany and the whole thing got messed up so I used it for spitwads

Even with a model or picture, I can't draw to save my life. I'd upload some of my awfulness if I had a scanner.
