For those who have seen Madoka Magica Rebellion, I made a post on tumblr concerning something Homura did. It's very long, but I would like to discuss it. Spoilers obviously.

Now are we trying to find ourselves the anime can suit our lifestyles?.. So, i am a maritime student. Is there any anime based on maritime or something?
(And yes. I know One Piece. Is there something different?)

I haven't seen it myself, but I have heard many good things about the Aria series, and it may be able to suit the maritime influence you're looking for.

Fucking lol! That was a glorious post.

Just read the latest chapter of Akame ga kiru, my heart can't take much more….

Have you seen Arpeggio of Blue Of Steel?

Just 2 minutes and hyped already.
But.. Animation is kinda weird. Never mind.. I can get used to it.
We generally refer ships as she in marine. In old times womans are forbidden to aboard ships because a ship could get jealous. So it is legit to see ship personas as feminine characters.

Fuck yeah i'll keep fucking watch it.

@Alex

Someone told me that maybe is going to be a second season.

There is also a manga, I recommend you to read it.

I'm watching Soul Eater.

Is fucking breath taking, the animation is amazing and the same goes for the music. I think I have a new favourite.

I just watched the movie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Anime is going to be the death of me. Too many feels bro….

The Mamoru Hosoda movies get progressively more feel destroying. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is sad, Summer Wars (My favorite move btw) is worse. Wolf Children is just soul rendering.

I am very excited for this. The manga is pretty darn good, not without its flaws though, but then again, nothing is perfect….except Gurren Lagann.

Sorry for the triple post, but I couldn't edit my last post.
According to google translate, Akame is actually called Snook.

"Snook kill the TV anime! "PV teaser
Takahiro Tashiro Tetsuya (monthly "pounding JOKER" series): Original

is katanagatari in any way linked to monogatari series other than that it's written by the same author?

i wanna watch it becasue the artstyle looks cool but i haven't watched this whole monogatari business yet (that's kinda like me postponing evangelion all the time, or the damn haruhi dvds that rot away in my shelf casue i don't feel like it)…

Found this on yahoo answers
"The Katanagatari series has nothing to do with the Bakemonogatari or Nisemonogatari, they just have the same sounding name at the end, if you're into Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari there's a prequel to them called Kizumonogatari coming out(no news on release…)"

No, both series are completely different. You can watch Katagari without having watched Monogatari and viceversa.

Also, do me a favor and watch the Monogatari Series RIGHT NOW. You won't regret it, trust me.

^
You really like that series, don't you?
I finished Bakemonogatari a couple days ago. It's beautifully animated for one. Also, despite being a show about kids in highshcool and vampires and shit, it still managed to feel fresh. The dialogue, while mostly really good, could go on for too long. All in all, great series.

@Akame ga Kill

Shit, looks fantastic. Is 2d or 3d animation? What's the story about?

Last edited Mar 06, 2014 at 10:12PM EST

It looked 3D for a sec, huh? Anyways, pretty sure its not.

The story is about a poor boy from the country joining a group of assassins to overthrow the empire and Its notoriously gruesome. Among the fighters in the series, they have super weapons that grant them powers. A sword that insta kills anyone who gets scratched, a sword that lets the user control those who have been killed by it, powered armor, guns, wings, etc. etc. Its set in the medieval times, but has some advanced weapons.

mwh, seems a bit too… generic, for my liking. It looks more like just a generic dime a dozen fanservice show, and that's not my kind of thing. I like a bit of substance to my shows.

^
I hope you aren't basing that on my explanation of the series. I know nothing about it except what I read. Unless you have prior knowledge on the series, I think it would be better to just wait and see. I mean, I wasn't excited for kill la kill because of the story, It was the pedigree.

Personally, I want to see it because of two things 1) Its trigger 2) It seems like it could be fun. I don't want all my anime to have high stakes and be life or death affairs. Especially with Akame ga kill on its way, I could use a funny light-hearted anime.

Nope, I base my impressions on the article. The designs seem to fanservice-y, and the premise, as stated by the article, seems a bit generic. So far, it doesn't catch my interest, but that's only from first impressions. I'll check out the first episode, but I doubt I'll enjoy it from what I've read. Then again, you never know, when this season started out nothing caught my attention, but now I'm watching like 11 or so shows. But I always read the full story before making a conclusion.

^
Fair enough. Speaking of designs, the designs look just like the devil is a part timer. That's the first thing that caught my attention, but I guess the only connection is that it's by the same artist. Just seeing the design and "triggers next anime", my first thought was they were gonna do something with that series, and i was a bit disappointed to see that wasn't the case. Anyways, I'm holding off all opinions on this until I see more. Speaking of The Devil Is a Part timer, I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would based on the description of the show and its style. Actually, I didn't expect much from it. Funny thing was that I ended up liking it more than the show I was excited for the most at the time, Attack on Titan. Actually, many of my favorite animes were ones that I never would have guessed I would like so much.

So right now, my list of Animes I'm excited for is

1. Akame ga kill.easily the one I am most excited for. I'm digging the manga and can't wait to see it.
2. Hanamonogatari. still on Nisemonogatari, but I really like the series and doubt that will change.
3. Trigger's next anime. Mainly because its trigger, but the description seems funny enough.
4.Gokukoku no Brynhildr. I did like elfen lied, so since this is an adaption of a manga from the same author, I want to see this.
That's all I got right now.
There are a couple others but those are the main ones.

Trigger’s next anime.

This one?

Mmm let's see

In the original novel series' story, the five members of the literature club awakened with extraordinary powers half a year ago. Although the members expected to be thrown into a world of super-powered battles (inō-battle) at their school, their normal daily routine continued. No secret organizations bent on world destruction, no super-powered wars, no braves or demon kings.
However, the members still look forward to the possibilities of adventure, and continued to believe that with each day, they were getting ever closer to those days of fantasy. Their days of romantic comedy and battles with extraordinary powers begin!

Sounds good and interesting. Let's see what happens.

In Trigger we trust.

@Dac
Devil Is A Part Timer is very very good, but Attack on Titan is still my favorite anime of last (beaten only by Samurai Flamenco). It's a good third or fourth though, depending how generous I am with Free!
As for the shows I'm looking forward to, they would be now:

Akame Ga Kill – I'll admit, it's caught my attention. It's probably going to be one of the next big shows by the looks of things
Mushishi Season 2 – I recently got into this show, and I fell in love. It has a very different tonw to most anime, which struck a chord with me
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Season 2 – What can I say? It's JoJo
Free! Season 2 – WOOOOOOOOO FREE!
Amagi Brilliant Park – I'll admit, even though most of their shows (besides Free!) don't exactly cater towards my interests, I am still a big Kyoani fan. I love pretty much all of their shows (Besides Beyond the Boundary, K-On and Lucky Star). This one especially caught my eye due to the connection to Full Metal Panic!, which is my third favorite show (even if the premise of this and that are miles apart).

@Random
Oh yeah, I can totally see Akame becoming the next big thing. It has a lot going for it. Its dark and violent with a lot of action, but the characters are still fun and full of character. One thing I also like is that the main cast is full of characters that are in their 20's and some possibly in their 30's. No 14-15 year old's, it's a bit refreshing is all. The Manga is pretty far along now, chapter 46, so if it is indeed popular, a second season would have plenty to work with in no time. Here is to hoping one of my favorite mangas at the moment can get a great adaption
The main reason I put The Devil is a Part Timer above AoT is because of one thing, I never felt like dropping DPT, I was incredibly close to dropping AoT though during the battle of Trost. I have other gripes about it too, but that having been said, I do like the series even if I've put the Manga on hold for now.

I would refrain from looking at anything on Akame ga kill unless you want massive spoilers.

Oh trust me, I'm a sucker for spoilers. I'll spoil an entire series before I've even watched the first episode. But yeah, this show does seem intriguing. I'll have to make a mental note to keep an eye on the fanbase when the show airs, just in case it's entry worthy. Along with Amagi Brilliant Park, there are some great new shows coming out, I just wish there were more I find interesting. The others are all second seasons (and Space Dandy's second cour, which I neglected to mention).

I fall in the camp of " I hate spoilers, but I need to know what happpens!" I hate myself for ruining everything like that. Still, I went into Akame completely blind so it really hit me in the feels and took by surprise. Every fight scene my heart was racing. It felt good not looking up spoilers for once.
Also, Its kinda cool that I can say I liked Akame before it was cool… I'll be a hipster.
I actually found out about it through the Random superpower game in the JFF thread.

I have a question for you guys, What anime trope is the most annoying to you?
Mine is the "character opens the door and sees two other in a compromising position, but its a misunderstanding". Don't get me wrong, some of my biggest laughs were from this( My bride is a mermaid does it very good more than once), I just hate when its overdone or when its played straight.

Last edited Mar 11, 2014 at 08:57PM EDT

In terms of what anime trope I find most annoying…..I can't really think of one. I guess the mouth movements at times get a bit distracting due to how static they can be, but that's about it.

Oh, in terms of anime coming out that I am looking forward to, I'm excited for Akame Ga Kiru, Parasyte, the new Fate/Stay Night, Aldonah Zero, and Terraformars.

Man, all of them are pretty mature come to think about it. Hopefully, this will silence people like this highly rated (seriously) IGN comment, lamenting the influence of anime on Western stuff:

"Could anime please stop ruining my American superheroes? Anime is awful. There is no tip toeing around it. It sucks."

Man, why do we anime fans get the most slack?

^
Bronies and Furries have it much worse than anime fans. Honestly, anime fans have it pretty good for the most part. IGN is a horrible, horrible community of commenters. Don't take it too seriously. Though I usually find anti-anime comments don't do too well on IGN.

I'm also excited for Kancolle and Date A Live 2. What can I say? I'm a sucker for fanservice ridden goofy shows. Tohka is best girl in Date A Live and Shimikaze is best girl in Kancolle.

I'm often sad that I'm gay, everyone is talking about best girl in shows, and I'm just stood here with my Bertholdt body pillow. I wish I could talk about best girls, and love Recently, My Sister is Unusual, but I can't. I just like normal shows, which is why I'm looking forward to Mushishi and JoJo so much.

I freaking loved Aria / Aqua.

I didn't actually watch it, but I have the 2 Aqua books, and have read through Aria. I thought me and Millenian Dan were the only ones on KYM who've even heard of it. Aria just seems to slip past most people.

I seriously enjoyed the feelgood, slice of life style of Aria. Breezy, peaceful atomospere, gorgeous artwork, unique sci-fi / historical setting, topped with a tiny bit of magic and mystery of life.

But I still have to bring up that Aria WILL NOT appeal to just anyone. Especially since there is no action, shooting, and stuff like that. It's just a wonderful slice of life story.

Fun fact. The vast majority of my laptop wallpapers have been Aria themed.

Hmm, should have payed more attention to the bible
" I say unto thy, men who bed with men will never know the joys of "best girl" while watching animu and mango"
Leviticus 1:34

Can't you just find them cute in a non-sexual way?

I guess kinda-ish, It's still hard to evaluate cuteness though. I guess Hiyori is cute, I guess. No one else out of that show is any good though, I stay firm on that..

Pics or didn't happen.

Which makes for a possible topic: Who owns anime-related merch? And pics if possible.

Do you really want to see that? Really and truly?

As for merchandise, I only really own DVDs, and even then just a few. I just really don't have the money to buy anime merch when Video Games absorb 90% of my money.

In terms of merch, I have the first Evangelion Rebuild and Akira on Blu-Ray. I am interested in obtaining some figures in the future, though. Not sure of what, yet, but I do really like the designs of the Angels and the Evas from Evangelion, so maybe I'll get one of those.

@Muumi
I have heard that Aria is a very well done Slice of Life. While I'm usually more into the dark, everyone dies kind of stuff, I do enjoy a more lighthearted show every once in a while, so I'll for sure check it out in the future. Actually, I just finished a pretty good supernatural Slice of Life called Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods. I'd recommend it a lot, especially if you have any interest in Shinto, as the show has a heavy focus on Shinto customs and traditions.

I have 20+ figures and some box sets, that's it at the moment. I have some more figures preordered though. My iPhone case I got custome made at a kiosk at a mall, it's the Night Raid from akame ga kill.
