In terms of merch, I have the first Evangelion Rebuild and Akira on Blu-Ray. I am interested in obtaining some figures in the future, though. Not sure of what, yet, but I do really like the designs of the Angels and the Evas from Evangelion, so maybe I'll get one of those.

@Muumi
I have heard that Aria is a very well done Slice of Life. While I'm usually more into the dark, everyone dies kind of stuff, I do enjoy a more lighthearted show every once in a while, so I'll for sure check it out in the future. Actually, I just finished a pretty good supernatural Slice of Life called Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods. I'd recommend it a lot, especially if you have any interest in Shinto, as the show has a heavy focus on Shinto customs and traditions.

I actually have a friend who is in love with Gingitsune, she can't get enough of it now. I gave it a try, but the whole shrine thing has never been my cup of tea. She's been crying at me ever since it ended because she wants a second season so bad (too be fair, I did the same to her with Meganebu)

I recently finished the anime Fantastic Children and I must say it seemed like the reverse of Evangelion in terms of comprehensibility. The first ten episodes are confusing as hell and nothing makes sense or has any context; then things start to get connected until, by episode twenty, you know exactly what's going on and when.

It also has this science technobabble device that I swear was lifted from the book/movie Contact. All in all, it was an enjoyable show that started slow before picking up. Once the sci-fi kicks in, that's when you know things are picking up.

As for Evangelion, I finished the first two movies and am awaiting the DVD release of the third (dubbed) so I can watch it online acquire it through various means. The first was kind of boring, being just a better animated repeat of the first couple episodes--although Ramiel was still a blast. I mean, how can it not be?

The thing makes me laugh every time it's on screen with all the angelic chanting… coming from a giant octahedron. It's like your reminder that you're watching something totally bizarre.

The second movie was a little more interesting, although that new chick seemed out of place, like I was watching a fanfic that had an OC in it or something. The ending was certainly different from the series and, from what I've heard, the third movie is where the shit hits the fan and people realized that just because it's a "do over" doesn't mean it's any less dark.

Also, is anyone else extremely irritated with One Piece's filler shenanigans in the Enies Lobby Arc? "Let's spend the first ten minutes of every episode going over the crap from the last episode." Just give me a filler arc if you need to pad things out. I don't mind filler. That G8 one was very nice. I'd say better than the crap with the Foxy Pirates. Dragging things out only drags the good stuff down.

Considering Recently my sister is unusual ended and Strike the Blood is ending tommorow, I need another romantic comedy to fill the void, I'll check it out. I'm also watching Nekomonogatari and Nisekoi at the moment. I love my anime rom coms.

Well Samurai Flamenco and Kill la Kill are going to be ending soon, so there's going to be a huge hole in my heart which cannot be filled. And besides, Recently My Sister is Unusual will get a second season as long as the sky is blue, so there's that. Really for me now, I'm just looking forward to Free!, Mushishi and, Most importantly, Durarara.

I can't wait for the new season of Free! it has some of the most accurate swimming animation i've ever seen. it's practically an exercise in technical animation, that show.

Which makes for a possible topic: Who owns anime-related merch? And pics if possible.

Super late reply. I mentioned I had some figures, but didn't post pics. Here are most of them.

Those Eva figs are pretty fuckin' sweet.

They are a bitch to balance though, and Eva unit 02 hands don't stay on very good. Other than that, I like them.

@Dac

How many goats have you sacrificed to have that collection? Just curious.

Also, is that a Tohka figurine? In the second picture, on the left.

DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT

2 goats.
It's actually Medaka Kurokami, but I have been contemplating getting this figure.

That will have to wait a bit though.

Also this one.

Hey all.
Seeing how the winter season has just about ended.
Any favorites?
Also any interest in the spring lineup?
Chart

Some of my favorites.
Noragami
Absolutely fantastic OST next to KLK's.
Mikakunin de Shinkouki
Heartwarming slice of life, it had a pretty catchy opening and ending
World Conquest Zvezda Plot
I had fun with this one, just about as much as Nobunagun another show that aired this season.
All three had some enjoyable characters and satisfying conclusions. I'm reading up the Noragami manga as well. Now just comes the empty feeling of not seeing them again. There's always hope for a second season though but I feel like some were pretty obscure so I'm not sure how likely it is…

I enjoyed Kill La Kill, obviously, then Sakura Trick and Space Dandy. I'm hoping that my picks for Spring will be able to fill the void those shows left:
Akuma No Riddle for Kill La Kill. More edgy, more yuri. Fair trade-off, I think.
Inugami-san To Nekoyama-san will hopefully function akin to Sakura Trick, though I don't know about that one…
Not sure if anything will ever be able to replace Space Dandy. But if I feel the desire for a third show, I might just go with Stardust Crusaders. Not sure, though. I haven't watched particularly violent anime in a fairly long time.

Priorities this season:

Date A Live II

Hanamonogatari

My favourites:

  • Tokyo Ravens
  • Noragami
  • Nisekoi
  • Kill la Kill
  • Space Dandy

@Dac

I wish I had the money to buy the two figurines…or 2 goats.

So, medaka box it's written by Nisio Isin? Damn, this goes straight up to my "Priority" list. I still need to watch Katanagatari.

I saw Angel Beats!

Damn, I tend to cry at the end of pretty much every anime I see but this time I was truly sad. The story is great, it amazed me how quick it goes from comedy to the most saddest drama in just seconds.

I have to say, the ending hit me really hard. [Spoilers] Shit, is really hard to see them go. Especially Kanade. [/spoilers]

If you want to drown yourself in a sea of feels and laugh at the same time, watch this series.

My Favourites:
Kill la Kill
Obviously
Nisekoi
Onodera is the best girl by miles.

Recently my sister is unusual

Looking Forward to:
Hanamonogatari
Gokukoku no Brynhildr
Date a Live II

Out of all the shows this season, I'd rank my favorites like this:
Samurai Flamenco
Kill La Kill
Tonari no Seki-Kun
Silver Spoon Season 2
Wake Up, Girls
Noragami
They're my top 6, in that order. Samurai Flamenco was definitely my favorite, and I'm probably sadder to see that go than anything else. Kill la Kill was super cool, but I only really started to love it this season rather than when it first started. Seki-Kun is fucking hilarious, you all need to go watch it right now (Watch Samurai Flamenco while you're at it, it needs more love). Silver Spoon and Wake Up, Girls were both cute in their own way. Noragami was really funny too, but I still can't get over the fact that in terms of voice actors, Levi=Yato and Eren=Yukine. Amazing otherwise though. And now with the next season starting, the only show I can find myself looking forward to is Mushishi, but maybe I'll be surprised by something else. I might watch Haikyuu too, but who knows.

Alright, after much considering, I now have a complete list of the shows i'm looking forward to for next season (ranked in order of importance):
-Mushishi season 2
-The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior
-One week friends
-Haikyuu
-Baby Steps
-Ping Pong the Animation
-Irregular at Magic High School
-Soul Eater NOT!
I'm actually pretty hype for The Kawai Complex and One Week Friends, both seem very interesting.

whaaaat, gokukoku no brynhildr, i might live under a rock, never heard of it getting an anime adaption…
…aaand it's made by Studio ARMS,
that's it, my hopes for this not ending in a disaster are pretty slim now…
however i'd be happy if i'm wrong.

Yeah, the only good anime ARMS has ever made was Elfen Lied. Everything else has been pretty bad (Masters of Martial Hearts. Brrr….).

On another note, I've been watching Madoka Magica Rebellion again. I just want to say that it has what I consider to be the greatest fight in all of anime (or at the very least, the best gun fight in all of anime).

yeah but elfen lied was also chopped up by ARMS in the anime adaption,
they replaced a character with a music box,
made rather weird choices in changing the storyline,
the characters looked rather stiff and were further reduced to 1 dimensional shells,
even the 'fan service' looked like something from 100 meters away in KLK,
although it's visuals are overall ok, but nothing great

So, I just found out about sword art online chapter 16.5 and read it. I am now slightly interested in seeing the anime even if that will not show up….

@thegreato
of course, this is on my high priority to watch list, i think it's so natural that no one felt the need to inform the others.
i wonder of jotaro's mum will change hair colour and overall appearance like in the old OVA haha

@arlon the serene
since it's the tv version that starts on the 4th there will be most likely mysterious shadows everywhere where 'serious' gore could appear ^^

@thegreato
I want to watch it, but I haven't seen season 1 yet. Whenever I go to watch it, I watch one episode, enjoy it, but can't be bothered to watch a second for a week. Mushishi, the kawai complex and One Week Friends remains my most hyped.

On a different note, I just watched the movie Paprika. It's really fucking weird, great, but weird. Kinda hard to follow to, I had to check the plot synopsis on wikipedia just to make sure I understood in correctly.

@Dac
At least with this one I didn't have to double check the plot while it was still going, I got to wait until afterwards. Now I've decided I'm going to watch Tokyo Godfathers, and maybe Millenium Actress or Perfect Blue afterwards if I have time. Then I just need to watch Paranoia Agent and the Satoshi Kon collection is complete. Hopefully I don't have to check Wikipedia with these.

@Random:
Mm-mm I sure do love me some Satoshi Kon. His works are great. Perfect Blue was personally my favorite, followed by Tokyo Godfathers. I wish they were better known than Paprika, which was good but not all that great in my opinion.

So I actually am sorta stepping back into the anime scene. Feels good man. I finally finished Attack on Titan after leaving the last three episodes hanging for months. And I finally got my butt into gear and started Kill la Kill. Man, I can't stop watching that show. Considering it was made by the Gurren Lagann team and TTGL is the only mecha that I've ever cared about I am completely not surprised that they made another immensely enjoyable series.

@Crimson
His other films seem a lot easier to follow than Paprika, it can get very confusing if you're not following it.
As for new shows you should totally watch, you should definitely watch Kyousougiga, Tonari no Seki-Kun and Eccentric Family. You may also want to check out Noragami, Silver Spoon, Meganebu and Wake Up, Girls (the latter has a movie preceding it, and the actual show is not fanservicey I promise you). Samurai Flamenco is also really good if you can handle it, but it was my personal favorite of recent seasons.

Heh, if you don't mind some surrealism and the like, do check out Mawaru Penguindrum. Also, I heard The Idolm@ster was surprisingly good, and much more smart than you'd expect it to be. Blast of Tempest is another good one.

And if you want something that's highly entertaining (for both good and bad reasons), I recommend Valvrave The Liberator.

I watch anime with my boyfriend and as it stands right now our list of things to watch are (in no particular order):
- Kill la Kill
- Panty and Stocking. I saw the first 7 episodes or so and really enjoyed it but stopped watching for some reason
- Fullmetal Alchemist (the original anime) I loved both the original anime and Brotherhood and my boyfriend loved Brotherhood but has never seen to original anime so we might as well give it a watch
- Pokemon Origins. This is more of a curiosity thing. Probably won't be invested enough to finish but may as well give it a go if not for the nostalgia trip.
- Space Dandy
- Inferno Cop
- Little Witch Academia
- Redline
- Free!
- Princess Tutu. Once again another series that I watched the first few episodes and ditched for some reason. Been meaning to finish this one for a while
- Cowboy Bebop. Yeah, yeah, I know, I've never seen Cowboy Bebop. There are a lot of classics I haven't seen. When things get such a high status and praise I tend to avoid them for fear of not actually liking them
- Baccano. Another series I never finished for some reason.
- Durarara! Rewatch for me, want to show my boyfriend how awesome this series is
- Black Butler. Another rewatch. This series was just so strange in so many ways I have a fascination with it.

Generally these shouldn't take too long to get through. Most of these things aren't any longer than 26 episodes if that. I'll take you guys' recommendations into account too but for now I have my own list to watch.

And since we were showing off our anime sw@g a few days ago I might as well show mine too.

Here's my manga collection that I collected through most of middle and high school off of a $10 weekly allowance

Hmm, I don't think I have any completed series in here. I particularly want to finish buying the FMA and Ouran Host Club volumes. I might have to get on that again

I also have a D. Gray-Man poster and an FMA:B poster I stole from a magazine at the library

Mmmmm, theft.

And an Attack on Titan print that I bought in artists alley at AB 2013

Allen Walker plushie next to a Pikachu plush I've had since I was like 8

T-shirts

@Crimson
Yay! Someone else who likes Durarara. Now there's someone I can hype about season 2 with. All the shows I listed earlier are worth watching. Tonari no Seki-Kun is only a short though, so it's not as much a commitment, but it's really really funny.

should i watch the movies immediately after it, or can i drown my sorrow in moe anime?

also:

there's a crona plush i made and a nanako nendo petit cheering me on on my desk

all the manga (elfen lied, black lagoon and chobits being the only complete series i have, soul eater is up to date. oh, and that 3 volume madoka manga) and anime dvds (azumanga, elfen lied and chrono crusade in slipcases, haruhi first season and gurren lagann single dvds without slipcase, hellsing, afro samurai, lucky star, chobits and soul eater in fatboxes) i own (just ignore the rest <.<), also the lucky star x street fighter nendo petits (the stands really suck…)

aand that single konata on my almost ancient 'flatscreen' TV, (apparently doesn't like it up there, often falls down…)

i also own a lucky star shirt, but the print was washed out really bad after the first wash D:
