Well, looking back at the last year in terms of movies and so, it's been really hard to see any memorable movies that have been made in the last couple of years or so that hasn't been animated or whatnot, but most movies that I see nowadays are so low in quality and are just pumped out for the cinema industry, that it makes me wonder if it's worth watching live-action movies anymore.
And how often is it to see a genuinely good movie at a movie theater nowadays? While this may just be a problem in South Africa, I feel that there aren't many that I'm willing to shell out money for. Many a times I would rather watch a television series than a movie nowadays due to plotlines and character development being allowed to be built up at a much more gradual pace than movies (not to mention the fact that watching series and movies online is a lot cheaper).
So, are live-action movies becoming a dead form of entertainment?

Definitely not.

In the past year just off the top of my head we've had The Grand Budapest Hotel, Birdman, the Imitation Game, Inherent Vice, Interstellar, Gone Girl, The Edge of Tomorrow, Guardians of the Galaxy, and a whole slew of indie films which account for just as many if not more.

If it means good ol fashioned 2D animation can make a proper comeback, I certainly hope so.

What are you talking about? Animated is hardly so big that it takes over live action. Just because you don't like any live movies that come out doesn't mean they're dead. Just look at the sales and the reviews. All the most popular movies are with real actors. The goddamn Avengers and Star Wars are coming out this year which both have a good chance to break records. Just watching or hearing about the Oscars for 2014 would tell you they're not dead. Them being "dead" doesn't even make any sense. It sounds like you just don't watch many yourself and the ones you watch you don't like. That's a personal thing. It seems to me that animation in films is more ignored, but even that's not "dead" and never will be.

Live action movies could never die. At least not in America. Why? Simple.

No matter how good or deep or mature animated movies will become, westerners will always view it as stuff for kids. Americans will probably never make an animated movie for adults because it would be seen as childish…

Also, it seems like your belief of live action movies dying is centered purely on what you think and your opinions. You aren't willing to spend money on live action movies.You would rather watch a television series.

It's okay to personally think live action movies are getting crappy, but they way you're wording things make me think that you're trying to say that live action movies are gonna die out entirely in favor of something else….and you don't really have the proper reasoning to say that….
