Polygon article
Interesting development i'd say. pretty shitty that adult swim refrains from hiring women because they are worried about a conflict of interest.

"The bottom line is that Lazzo’s explanation of why Adult Swim didn’t have more female creators wasn’t an apology and a promise to do better, but more excuses as to why he wouldn’t bring on more."
It's not really an excuse, it's a business decision. If he's not rejecting pitches on the basis that they're from women then he's not discriminating, he's just not going out of his way to meet any affirmative action quotas for females (which is the only "promise to do more" I feel this author would find acceptable). Queen Sugar on OWN was promoted by advertising that only women were hired to direct it, and 6 out of 7 didn't even have any professional directing experience. It was a business/marketing decision by the creator to offer them the opportunity. At the exclusion of men. Sexism, or business practice? The problem with the modern court of public opinion is that they want everything to be very literally equal. Women are 50.8% of the population so they should be 50.8% of every industry or it's sexist misogyny~
First though when I read the thread title was "Well fuck if that's true that's fucking terrible!"
and then I noticed it Polygon wrote the article, gave it a read through and that reaction very quickly turned to
Seriously, all he said was he was making absolutely sure to only hire women if they were actually talented, and not because he's being pressured to do so.
One problem I have with today's society is I don't like how companies, businesses, and colleges have quotas for minorities that are accepted/hired. In my mind, you should only get a job if you're qualified, not because of what's in your pants or what color you are. I'd hire you if you were qualified at the job in question, not just because you're black or a woman. Granted, I wouldn't refuse to hire you because you're black or a woman, but it'd take more than those qualifications to get farther.
It's when people start hiring others on this principle that people who are really bad at what they do get positions they shouldn't have because they'd completely fuck them up.
Another thing, it's rather hypocritical for them to have this stance, and then go nuts if a company started hiring white men just because they were white men.
B-but Polygon wrote that article. Is that even a reputable source?
Considering the weird shit that comes from Adult Swim, I'm not really surprised that there aren't many, if any women on the staff of that channel.
On a side note if you want to have serious discussion, try to refrain from using articles from sites like Jezebel, Polygon, The Mary Sue, etc. When websites like that have a pretty obvious slant, they'll write trite like this without even considering that what they're saying is a load of bollocks.
