Silly Hollywood, women don't make good protagonists. /s
Gee I wonder what's gonna happen when your movie addresses a girl as 'Piggy'. Not only will the "basement dwellers" hate this, but neo-feminists too.
Also is the release date out yet? I will start a countdown if so.
In regards to an all female adaption of Lord of the Flies, just look it up on Twitter and note the tweets that miss the point of what the source material is all about.
Whatever. The KYM community gets really pissed whenever stuff like this happens, and it's just not worth paying attention to anymore (to either side).

Betting money they will change her name to "Peggy" or some shite
Seeing what a possible female response to the circumstances in the book, which I doubt would be the same as the boys, is actually an interesting concept.
Of course it's this is just a another ham-fisted attempt to push for more female protagonists and is going to be terrible, but if competent people were to do something with this idea it might actually make for good media. Personally I feel an all female Lord of the Flies story should be tested in book form by an unbiased author before being adapted into a film.

I don't think we're so much "pissed" as we are "anticipative", if that's a word. After all, KYM is still a documentation site. Someone has to make an entry for it should it blow up.
Edit: there's already an entry for it, so let me rephrase: someone has to keep the entry updated.

Even when explicitly typed, people miss the sarcasm.

I'm going to stop replying to things after 5 AM now
I'll briefly repeat what I said about this on the entry page:
I don't care that it's an all-female ensemble just like I didn't care that the original book was an all-male ensemble (I know the author said that the fact that they are boys was a main factor to the themes, but Death of the Author and whatnot).
My main issue is that this is a Hollywood adaptation. As in I'm afraid they're going to neuter the thing to make it more "accessible," so not as brutal, violent, or uncomfortable like the source material, which is what makes the book so effective in my opinion.
Also they might give it a happy ending and not the bittersweet "we won't be able to fully re-integrate ourselves back into modern society after what we've done on the island," which would be the ultimate insult.

Y'know, I was just thinking to my self, "Self, you have far to much karma".
Let them have their movie, it's bound to show the dark side of females with backstabbing, gossiping, betrayal etc and have reviews of "This isn't how women act like in life!" or "This is an outright lie!"
I mean there was even a video show what happen if one was with men, the other women.
