so this is my first day on the forums, and i just have a quick question for y'all:
are we allowed to post fanfictions? They require creativity, and this is the creative board after all!

Hmm…
Well, I'd say that there are two unwritten "rules" of the forums that would apply. First of all, you can't create a thread strictly for self-promotion. In other words, no "look at me, it's my birthday/I got into this college/etc." Now this isn't applied too strictly, and you'll generally get the benefit of the doubt, but I'll tell you: When it's obvious, it's obvious.
Secondly, there has to be a good reason why people would want to post past the OP. A forum game would be the most obvious example of what I'm talking about, or a general discussion/debate on a topic. This sort of connects back to the first one, as to say "good job" probably isn't a good reason. (Now obviously, neither of these necessarily apply on Riff-Raff, but that's a whole different ballgame. Just do yourself a favor and stay away.)
With those two together, I come to the conclusion that just posting your own personal fanfiction to the forums probably isn't a great idea. Instead, why don't you do something like this?
Changed the title and moved it out from creative. If you want to ask anything about the site, a specific board or anything else, use the Q&A board.
There shouldn't be a problem with posting your fanfiction. However, bear in mind that we're not the best choice for posting and making fanfictions since the structure and the limitation of this site are different to that of a fanfiction's site. The forums have a limit of 10,000 characters and you can only edit your post before 30 minutes. Past the time limit, you can't edit it again.
In other words; yes, you could post your fanfiction, but I don't recommend it. Now, I do recommend making a fanfiction general in where you can talk, share your fanfictions, see other people's work, ask for help or advice and so on. Rather than posting it directly, you can share it with everyone in the designated thread.
if you wanted to make a thread about fanfictions forum users have made and discuss and help one another you could maybe get a semi-popular thread.
alright thanks alot! :D
