I've seen a few users, namely Irene and Chris Menning, hold the title "Early Adopter (#number)". Can someone explain why? Thanks.

I think it was given to the first hundred users registered to the site, but I'm not really sure about it

Could be, but I highly doubt that they'd all deactivate. I've searched for old users and only found two early adopters.

If you go to your profile page and replace your name with a number, it will show you to the user who joined in that time. For example if I chose 38, I'd get the 38th user to join.
Most of the original 100 users didn't do much, so they are barely linked to other parts of the site, making it hard to find them otherwise.

It's quite unfortunate as most the early adopters, even the founders of the website, are not active.
Only two of them actually deactivated, but many of them never actually became active and hog the title. Not that it matters too much, it's interesting but largely it's a meaningless reward for largely a set of meaningless people who never actually did anything outside the people who actually ran the site with maybe a few exceptions. Token really.
The Mod with the oldest account, Blah-Tan (not the oldest Mod, which is Blubber), might have actually earned the title if you removed all the Scientists and COMPLETELY inactive accounts.
