So what's the deal with KYM's mobile site?

So in case you didn't know, KYM has had a mobile-friendly version of the site for quite some time now. It looks like this and works great for browsing:

But once I log in, I get redirected to the desktop site:

What's up with that? This has been a problem since pretty much the day the mobile-friendly site was introduced, which I'm pretty sure was more than a year ago. Is this ever getting fixed or will it just be ignored for more years to come?

I'm using the official Chrome app on an iPhone 6s on iOS 9.3.4 for those wondering, although this has always been a problem no matter what iPhone I've used. Also, I just tried it on Safari and the same thing happened. Redirected to the desktop site after logging in.

As far as I can tell, the official answer is that the mobile site only became a thing because Google favours sites that have mobile versions, and punishes those who don't.

Of course, Google doesn't log in to KYM, so when they check for a mobile site, it's there. When you login, it is quite possible that features for people who are logged in are incompatible with the mobile site.

The switch to the desktop version when logging in is intentional, as things like the forum aren't accessible on the mobile version as those areas have no mobile version (yet), same for profiles and other features only useable when logged in.

It's not necessary, as most good phones can just request the desktop version, but it makes sense.
