i thought these ranks are given after some work…

first i was just 'gold member' for sticking around the site for a while
then i got 'JR. researcher' which makes sence since i am posting opinions about memes from time to time…
but now a full researcher? what did i do to deserve that? i don't even have a single submission yet…

It's not a matter of how much work ou do. I think it's all about how many post you make or how long you've been here.

It's all about how many posts you make.

It's a deceiving title as people who do no research can become researchers.

Based on observation:

RANKS ACHIEVABLE BY ANYONE:
0-1 contributions: Brand New
2-5ish contributions: Protomember
5ish- 10ish/15ish: Member
11/16-50 contributions: Gold Membership
51-100 contributions: Jr. Researcher
100+ contributions: Researcher

You forgot about "OVER 9000!!!1"

Although Katie Starshine was the only one to obtain it so far, I think it's possible for anyone to achieve if they reach 9001 contributions to KYM.

From what I know, that is something specific made for Katie Starshine only, as Katie was the first person to ever reach that number of contributions.

But, no one else has reached over 9000 contribootions, so (in theory) do you think someone else could attain the title too?

Although no one has reached 9000 contribs a second time, I believe that was a one time thing to commemorate the first time it happened.

What do you even mean by "contribution"? Is it how many comments you have made?

It means with pictures and videos.

Do contributions ever have anything to do with rank at all? From what I have seen and tested, rank goes up with posts.
(which I really find odd because a troll or spammer can become a researcher in days)
