Yesterday, the top comments on this photo were correct:

Today, the comment listed as the top comment only has five votes, while there are at least two comments with more. Not really a big deal, but someone should probably investigate it nonetheless.

Yeah, I've seen this happen a lot. I would assume it just doesn't want the same comment at the top forever (although that has happened in some entries).

It defaults to comments that have a net score of at least 2 from thumbs in the past day and if there aren't any then it shows the top comments of all time.

So then, it's not a defect, it's a feature?
