HAs any one ever made it to the end/bottom and gotten the little guy saying the winner is you?

My computer starts buggin out deep down so i've never made it to the bottom.

Welcome to KYM, first off.

As a head's up for the future, be very careful about posting Pony threads. Generally, just posting it in KYM Pony General will get one of the Entry Mods for the My Little Pony article to take a look at it.

But to answer your question, I haven't gone to the image gallery for months. There are so many images there that my computer slows to a crawl when trying to look at them. With the current system, I'm not sure if much can be done about it.

I've suggested deleting the oldest, non-crucial images to make more room for newer images. That way, there can still be documented proof of the trending status of the subculture without having so many images to sort through.

Unfortunately MLP has become one massive never ending Image Dump. I wouled personally like to lock it all together but… yea.

How about we limit the number of images uploaded to that entry to 25 or so a day? Along with Verbose's suggestion of clearing out the oldest ones? I wouled rather not have our image database be flooded like this.

These are all great suggestions. I actually did get to the end once, back in August, but it was before the bank hit 10,000 images, and it took an entire day to get there. I think it should definitely be cleaned out, if not locked completely. I think it's fair to say we have enough pony images.

As the admins have said to me, 'more is better than less, the image gallery doesn't take up enough for it to be a problem, we'd rather people submit stuff than unnecessarily lock an image gallery.'

And I pretty much agree with them on this issue.

That seems reasonable. If that is the admins' opinion, then it's fine with me. My only concern is that it might be interfering with site operation, but so long as it doesn't affect anything, they can add as many images as they want.

Honestly, if we must, then restrict uploads, but the only deleting that should occur is reposts.

This way, we hold true to a documenting site, and keep away from my MORBID FEAR OF FORGETTING AND LOSING THINGS.

great idea much better than deleting older images =D

i also like restricting the # of uploads on the gallery.

There really is no point in an image restriction as the servers can handle the amount of images uploaded.

And making a limit on the amount of uploads prevents documentation in exactly the same way as deleting older images, it prevents full documentation.

This was exactly my point back when the image section was locked last time. This site is basically Wikipedia for memes, and as such it works best when it is able to act as a one-stop location for all the available information on a given subject. The MLP meme just happens to be very big and constantly changing – so it gets a lot of documentation.

true……true

The quoted post has been deleted.

Previous Poster said, before deletion of their post:

Take Verobose’s advice: don’t post pony related questions outside of the pony thread. This is KYM not pony central. Its annoying to have everything around ponies, every image, meme.

Although the Pony General thread is for mainly pony things, it's definitely allowable for pony related content to be posted in other threads.

It's not like we restrict all tf2 posts to TF2 general or anything like that.

Also, any questions about how the site is run is allowed, even if it is about a pony related topic like the OP.

Their response:

ok. Got it. Its cool. All im saying is, posting outside Pony threads, means ur open to haters. Too much pony everywhere. Pony always trending, pony winning contests. Bleh.

(lol, getting neg karma for replacing responses that were deleted)

To answer Op's question yes I have but it's been a while since I did it. You can also look at it starting from oldest to newest. As Abra said we can upload and post as we see fit. For you pony haters, sorry but mods don't find it to be a problem. I think Abra has also answerd all questions here so I request a lock on this thread.

How about an option to filter out mlp images,if you don't want to see them?just,on the subject…

It would be too much coding just to give favoritism to or against a group, as Witch King pointed out.

"How about an option to filter out mlp any meme entry images and/or videos? Also, make the filter include Sub-Memes of memes you block."

Compromise I think?

I like Natsuru's idea. After all, it wouldn't be favoritism because you could choose any meme to block. If having the choice to post on any meme you want and posting on one of them isn't favoritism, then having the choice to block any meme you want and blocking one of them isn't either.
And some people might get sick of other specific memes, too. I was seeing people complaining about Operation Wall Street a lot.

If there was any filtering option, it would definitely have to be neutral, blocking whatever the user specifies.

Although, I doubt that it is high on the list of things to implement, so we probably won't see anything like that soon.
