I think you were right in posting his activity, Emi. It's obvious to me that he was trying to link to sites (probably somehow related to each other), because he never commented on anything without a link.

As you can see from the activity, what they did was put an unrelated image into Chemistry Cat's gallery. The image has a site address which happens to be the same as the username.

Coincidence? I think NOT.
