Popular Image Galleries popup. Whose ass needs kicking?

I'd really like to know what jackass thought it a good idea to randomly interrupt my browsing of the site with a screen-filling overlay of "today's popular image galleries." Sitting on a page for more than about 2 minutes throws that damn thing in my face even if I've already seen it. I have just one simple question for the person who thought this was a good idea:

I first saw it going into the forums, only to close it and see this thread. We already have a "trending image galleries" bracket on the homepage, come on KYM, how much more bullshit are you going to force me to adblock?

It does it for me with adblock on.

Just recently got it on the home page. I don't like it one bit at all since it's so annoying.

What it looks like:

I'm already on the site, I'm most likely going to look at a few images while I'm here so what is the point of flashing a huge popup that obscures everything else on the screen on my face?

Do you actually want people to hate this site? If the answer is no then please stop with this nonsense.

PS: I have Adblock and even that does not stop this.

KYM, if we needed that window we'd go straight to the right side of the front page. This shit is redundant and all it does is hurt the chances of KYM getting new regular visitors

This ain't a fix, it's just sweeping it under a rug. Those who can voice their complaints remain oblivious, and those that can't get something they don't want.

The galleries are already advertised pretty clear on the site, folks don't need a reminder.
