I seem to be getting repeatedly downvoted by a bot or by a no-life.

Recently my comments seem to be getting downvoted for no real reason. I'm not sure if it's the work of a bot or some no-life that's monitoring my activity just to downvote me when I post. If it's the latter, I think I know what user it is, but I won't say it publicly in case I'm wrong. Is there anything I can do about this, or do I just have to live with a -1 to all my future posts?

(I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. If a mod want's to move or lock this post that's fine.)

Allow me to present to you, the thread creator, a screenshot of a forum post. Not any forum post, mind you; a very special forum post. At the top, liking icing on this sweetest cake of incompetence, is the most carefully hand-crafted snark that not only leads you to other relevant posts, but kindly reminds you to use the search function before creating a thread in boards like Maintenance and Q & A.

Now that alone, while giving you all the information you could possibly need from making such a thread, is not why the post is so special. You see, the post is special because inside I have included another screenshot of another post. Now that post, too, is very special. Why, you ask? Because it, too, answers all of the questions you have posed here. If this information is somehow still not enough to quench your insatiable thirst for obvious answers, I have, in my tireless quest to make the KnowYourMeme community welcome to everyone except Mare, provided a number of links to threads long past, many of which were created by lost and confused users such as yourself. Think of them like your meme ancestors; you bear their legacy by making the same threads as they did, for no discernible reason beyond your own inability to use a search box.

So please, do not worry if this was the "wrong place" to post; there is no wrong place to ask a question. Instead, ask yourself if you needed to ask in the first place.

Thank you for the reply! Though the sarcasm was rude. I did use the search bar before posting, and I did find the very thread you made an image of. Unfortunately, I didn't read the whole post due the unhelpful toxicity, even from mods. I suppose I should think before posting next time.

Now all of that was just for appearances, because we all know anyone who posts about karma doesn’t have the patience to read other people’s posts.

A post so thorough it even took people like you into consideration, and you still somehow found a way to disappoint. I can't tell if you're looking for petty feuds on the forums, or if you were genuinely expecting some kind of notarized list about why your downvoted comments (which are completely untracked, making them even less important than the already irrelevant forum karma) are in no way your fault. Is it some kind of sympathy plea gone wrong? Do you want a second opinion that isn't included in the other 9 karma discussion threads? I want you to, if you will, imagine this situation from literally any perspective other than your own:

User has a problem.

User uses the KYM search bar to find relevant forum posts to his problem.

User finds that there is loads of information related to the issue.

User finds a forum post filled with links and information that spans 4+ years of discussion.

User sees that the post explicitly asks for users to read before posting about a similar issue.

User decides it isn't worth reading, and makes a thread anyways.

User did not expect a negative response to this.

I'm not sure what your definition of "unhelpful toxicity" is, but willfully ignoring answers right in front of you because they aren't laced with compliments and friendly emoji should be pretty far off that mark. The fact that one or two mods you happen to dislike also posted in these threads bears no relevance to the fact that you chose to be ignorant.

If you want to cite part of a post, rather than the whole thing (tall images, for example), try the <blockquote> and </blockquote> tags.

If it's one user obsessed with you, nothing can really be done about it. It's hard to distinguish if the user just genuinely hates everything you write or if they're being a troll.

If you have a feeling that you're getting downvoted, do the most neutral comments on very old entries. If they get downvoted, then there's probably someone who specifically checks your activity to downvote you.

Disregard the snark.

They very well could have just linked one image instead of entertaining themselves with the (admittedly clever but entirely unnecessary to the point that it undermines the message) post. But do remember you're working with people who frequent the forums of a site that documents memes.

…We are not well-adjusted people.

The best way to avoid negakramas is to get a good rep. In general, complaining isn't a good start. You might want to PM a user or mod that seems to have been on the site a while if you have a problem with an individual in the future.

But in your defense, you never know what mod or user is a butthole without researching them, and the search function (much of the site, really) is as cantankerous and as particular as I am.

You also didn't know that this is an on-going problem here and that we make new users look up the answers to everything, because we lack patience. Because millennials.

It's like customer service. You're the 100th person today to ask if a certain item is on sale. We've answered "No, it's not" 100 times, but you weren't here for any of those times. So unfortunately, you got the 100th response to a played out question you asked only once, and the answer was at the front lobby in a nasty-looking newspaper bin beside the sketchy-looking ads.

After a while, you can be inactive, criticize everything, be known for being a critical killjoy, and still get the glorious, sweet kramas.

(please note that only true memers user the term "kramas." It's kinda like the n-word for black people, so exercise caution.)
