Image Loading Problem

I've been having an issue with how the images load. Sometimes, the page will lock onto an image and prevent me from clicking out of it, with the only way out of it being to go back to the previous page. This also makes browsing on a phone much more frustrating than it used to be.
Here's a screenshot of the issue

Yeah, it looks like KYM's using a new image loading thing? I don't like it. I like having all the buttons beneath the images instead of to the side, and I like how clicking on an image would open it in another tab so I could keep scrolling.

The thumbnail issue is what the fixing what was not broken caused in the first place.

Seriously kym, you arent facebook circa 2012, your audience arent clueless 12 year old kids and 40 year old parents who've never heard of adblock and noscript. The interrupting twitter link bar and the popup? Your core audience isnt going to think twice about ignoring the intent, bypassing all of it and resenting you for interrupting thier day.

Just give up, revert to what worked and focus on building the good will required to convert people towards tolerating non intrusive sidebar ads, thats the only way to achieve sustainability.

We got a new coder, please give him some time to adjust to the site's coding.

Feedback is welcome but of course broken features aren't what was intended. The new setup works great on desktop but yeah isn't exactly tailor made for mobile.

But it's horrible on desktop too.

Opinions can differ. I browse the galleries so little and find this new method working just as easily (fills the screen better), but maybe exactly because I don't really browse the galleries. I guess gallery users might experience it differently, comfort zone and that stuff.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Seems like your new coder needs to learn to code or something. Is he doing this as a high school project, or did somebody pay for this garbage?

But can't they go by popular demands like NSFW filters, political filters and such like that? The Show Fewer Ponies button is still there in the image gallery despite MLP is long beyond dead and they didnt even bother to make Show Fewer Politics or Show Fewer NSFW ?

Not to mention the most popular demand is the edit button but I'm pretty sure they're gonna make excuses such as "it's gonna lag the server" or like that.

Plus, unannounced changes is incredibly annoying

Hi guys, we hear your feedback and yes, politeness goes a long way!

We may be making more changes, we may not. We'll try to do what is best for everyone.

There are lots of things we can do to improve your experience. We appreciate all of you and want to do the best we can with the memes.

As you may know, there are areas of the forum where these discussions (e.g. feature requests) are totally welcome. Obviously, it's best to keep each thread focused on a single issue.

I know some of the rollouts haven't been silky smooth, and that is what is being addressed next. Talk to you all soon!

Kudos to Jacob for this idea:

Something which this setup of image previews allows compared to the old version: Preview tags and sources. People love their sauce, and scrapbookers would love a quick look at the tags (if we can also get the edit button worked into the preview would be amazing).

As RandomMan requested, I'm sharing my userscript on this thread as well.

After fiddling around with the CSS of the new image loader, and after tweaking stuff with my limited knowledge of JS and CSS, I ended up with this:

I figured that having info and buttons on the bottom of the screen would be more convenient. As some people suggested, I scaled up the thumbs and favorite buttons to make them more visible and easily accessible, and I also made the background a little transparent instead of completely black.

The script also removes the "stay up to date" banners in the middle of the galleries and restores the size of the thumbnails as they were before, without the extra height (by popular request I guess).

After you installed Tampermonkey on Chrome/Firefox, click on the following link to add the script and try it out:

https://my.mixtape.moe/qpnsbz.user.js

While we wait for future updates, I'm rooting for the devs to make the best out of this website and I hope they overcome any issue they might face!

At a time of 2019 where the image gallery is filled with RWBY, Trump memes, political images, Fire Emblem, JJBA, NSFW images, and Steven Universe.
Plus, MLP isn't in the Top Images Galleries anymore, so I guess "beyond dead" or "not relevant" is an appropriate way to describe it in KYM.

I'm not saying that the Admins should remove the Show Fewer Ponies I'm saying that there should be more filter options like the two examples I provided.

I remember asking about getting more filter options too but answer always was something about site loading problems. If they would add more of them, site would have bigger loading times and just get really slow or something like that. I could remember it wrong though.

I also remember asking multiple times about Show Fewer Ponies button that why is it still there after all these years when MLP clearly isn't trending anymore and if site has some big issues, then why not just remove the button and add some other Show Fewer button for something else like political shit for example but i never got any answers for it. Does some of the site users and staff still have a lot of hate for horses and fear that it might rise again just like 4chan still hates and fears it? I really don't see any use for it anymore.

Before people complained about too many cartoon horses getting spammed on this site and these days people complain about too much NSFW, political entries, Trump entries and controversies getting spammed on this site. Seems like there isn't any winning here either.

The quoted post has been deleted.

That link is supposed to either show/download the script source or trigger a direct installation if you have Tampermonkey. Maybe some browsers see it as something too shady to let you go through.

Try adding the script manually with this pastebin link:

https://pastebin.com/raw/ULGQRsqq

The few steps to do:

-Tampermonkey icon → Create a new script
-Remove the 15 default lines
-Paste the whole thing and hit save

Nope, this is not working in desktop either.
